Strikes from Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor are not enough as the Baggies boing back to rescue a point in midlands derby clash. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A superb turn and an exocet shot that arrowed into Ben Foster’s net, handed Benteke his seventh goal of the season. The Belgian continues to be Paul Lambert’s key player and the sole Fantasy temptation in the Villa squad. With the Newcastle failing back four up next, Benteke’s chances of scoring back-to-back goals looks enticing.

Charles N’Zogbia
A former Fantasy favourite, at times in the first half, the former Latics winger sparkled and showed glimpses of talent that once made him a serious proposition. A brace of assists will immediately re-introduce him to the radar and, having made just his fourth start of the season, N’Zogbia he could yet emerge as a mid-price prospect in a Villa midfield that’s been bereft of Fantasy options.

Chris Brunt
Rather like the Norwich midfield assets, it appears that Brunt has been on a see-saw with James Morrsion as the main source of points for the Baggies in the middle of the park. A second goal in five games promotes Brunt’s stock this time around and arguably helps to oust Morrison as the primary target in Steve Clarke’s midfield.

Going Down

The West Brom Defence
With Gareth McAuley owned by over 8% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Ben Foster claiming over 6%, the Baggies rearguard goes on disappointing. Having started the season with three shut-outs in the opening five fixtures, Clarke’s side have gone six without defensive returns, conceding more than a single goal in their last four. It’s one clean sheet in 13 league outings, although McAuley’s assist for Odemwingie’s equaliser will sweeten that pill for tonight at least.

  1. I'm beginning to realise I don't really need the winter WC. My existing team doesn't need a lot of change. What more could you do with this side apart from useless tinkering?

    Begovic, Foster

    Rafael, Sagna, Cameron, Davies, O'Brian

    Bale, Walcott, Michu, Fellaini, Puncheon

    RVP, Ba, Tevez

    1. 1) Downgrade your 2nd GK for 4.5 or below. Keep eye on Begovic. Mignolet or Vorm could be a better choice.
      2) Downgrade Puncheon. He's now in 5.0. 5th mid is only needed in one game suspended or one game injury. I don't how much his selling price But you get a lot of advantage by getting Marveaux or Schneiderlin or Guthrie or Maloney.
      3) with those downgrade you can get aguero or upgrade your defenders

      1. So your WC still needed. But make sure you don't have 2 FT when you wanna use WC.

  2. Those who are going 5 budget wc defenders, who are you going for?
At the moment I have: Clark, Clyne, Harte, demel,Davies

    1. Why would it even be necessary to do that with such a good selection of medium priced attackers? Michu, Fellaini, Puncheon, Sturridge etc?

    2. Davies Harte Dawson Wilson Nelsen

    3. Sounds about right

    4. Cameron too. And if long term, Cuellar's a good option I think.

      Depends how budget we're talking.

    5. Monitor Wilson. Clark is a waste.

    6. And get Fabio. QPR will keep a lot more cleanies imo.

  3. My original plan was to have Power 5 + RVP Aguero for these 2 weeks
and then transfer out Fellaini and get Sturridge in GW 26.

Suddenly noticed Fletcher got 2 nice fixtures ahead (and team form is with him).

    Fletcher: SWA rdg
    Bale: nor wba
    Fellaini: WBA AVL.

Choose two out of Fletcher, Bale, Fellaini please?

*If I go with Fletcher (3-4-3), I can keep Puncheon as my 5th midfielder.

    1. Bale and Fellaini for me

  4. Cup opponent has same players except Luiz RVP and Lambert (+1 point). I have Gibbs Mata and Podolski. Who's favourite?

  5. What is the best options:
    A. RVP, Ba, Lakuku, Gerard,
    B. RVP, Sturidge, Flethcher, Bale

    1. B defo

  7. How many BAPS for sturridge do you think

    (rival has him)

    1. Hard to say, didn't see the game. Would be interested in baps for Gerrard though if anyone could hazard a guess?

  8. Kill mancini and benitez, if theres any murderers out there looking for their next target!

  9. Dzeko or fletcher?
