Champions League

Totel Football – The Scout Selections

With the Champions League Semi-Final first leg between Bayern Munich and Barcelona kicking off in just a few hours, it’s time to turn our attentions to TotelFootball as we look to European Fantasy football to hopefully earn us a few bob.

If you’re new to TotelFootball, you can still sign-up and enter our Fantasy Football Scout Private Pool in order to stand a chance of winning this week’s free bet prizes. In addition, any new sign-ups immediately get themselves a free £10 bet with which to play the Main Pool game, which tonight has another £500 prize pool to compete for.

Read on for details of the current Private Pool standings and more on how you can get involved and our player picks for the Final Series. For the full details on TotelFootball, check our earlier article.

Don’t forget that, with the deadline for tonight’s game 7.45pm, we can tweak with our squads after the official squad lists are published.

The Fantasy Football Scout Pool – Current Standings

Ali Kaz leads the way after racking up 86 points in the previous round. His decision to triple up on the Bayern backline paid dividend with a 30 point return, while Dortmund’s Felipe Santana mirrored Cristiano Ronaldo’s 13 point haul as Ali Kaz moved to 329 points, just one ahead of Optimus, who racked up 85 points last time out. He also picked three Bayern players at the back (Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm and Dante Bonfim) while Ronaldo, Marco Reus and Zlatan Ibrahimovic combined for a cool 33 points with three goals and a pair of assists between them. Jkane89 tumbles down to third, then, but is just two points off the summit on 327 points.

FFS: Final Series Selections

This evening’s deadline brings with it a tactical twist and one which is likely to have a significant say at the top of the Scout Pool. Once our 15-man squads are submitted for the semi-final first legs, Fantasy managers have no more trades available – essentially, our selections not only account for this Tuesday and Wednesday but for next week’s second legs and also the final, taking in a total of five matches.

The decision, then, is whether to load up on the two teams you reckon will progress to the Wembley showdown on May 25 or spread the risk in order to ensure you have a minimum number of participants. Given that all four teams have a realistic chance of reaching the final, achieving a balance looks tricky – at this point, though, it’s all or nothing and with that in mind, we’re siding with the Spanish teams to progress.

Now we’re down to the last four, Totelfootball have upped the player quota, meaning we can select up to six per team without incurring any points penalties. In goal, we’ve opted for Victor Valdes, with uncertainty still surrounding the Real Madrid keeper situation, this seems the safest option. Our 10 outfield players are equally distributed between Barcelona and Real Madrid, then; Barca full-backs Jordi Alba and Daniel Alves get the nod for their attacking potential, while Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane offer a security of starts for Jose Mourinho’s backline.

In midfield, once again we opt for two players from either side. Xavi and Andres Iniesta get the nod for Barcelona, while Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria are our preferred combination for Madrid. Up top, it has to be Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line. Messi is expected to be reinstalled to the Barcelona XI after a recent thigh problem and with the pair potentially having three games apiece to wreak havoc, it seems far too risky to go without either.

Although tonight is the final round for the Scout Pool, it’s worth noting that there will be a six-a-side competition for each remaining fixture – these are pay-to-play and have no bearing on the FFS competition.

To Sign Up to TotelFootball

New Players need to register their account via this link.

Once registered, click the “Home” button in the menu bar and select the Champions League Final Series and click “Play Now”.

Select your team for this weekly game and then click “Continue”.

You can then enter your team into the Main Pool game as well as the FFS Private Pool. Entering our Private Pool is free you can enter the FFS Private Pool without staking money in the Main Pool.

To play the Main Pool game you will need to add a stake for that game. Your stake affects the size of your prize should you finish in the top places in the Main Pool. See the Main Pool Game section for more details on this.

The Main Pool Game – Free Bet Offer

TotelFootball have given every FFScout signup a free £10 bet – this will allow you to test your management skills against the best managers in the main pool, without risk. This means you can participate in the free FFS Private Pool and also chance your arm in the Main Pool. Your selected team can be entered for both simultaneously.

Once you have your team Champions League squad chosen, you then place your stake money for the Main Pool. The amount of stake you invest affects the amount of winnings you claim should your team be amongst the to 10% in the final rankings.

Finally a reminder that TotelFootball is only available to those aged over 18 and over and, if you’re going to take up this offer and play, please gamble responsibly.

How do you compare Britain, Spain and France in terms of the most powerful nation back when they were colonising countries all over the world?

Can't believe Liverpool are keeping Suarez, sad how far that once great club has sunk. I remember how jealous I was of them in the 80's as a United fan growing up, now it must be the other way around. United winning the title whilst Liverpool are fighting off WBA for 7th place and more worried about a player's value than the reputation of the club.

I've even seen some 'Pool fans defending Suarez. I'm not joking!

If they get him into anger management and try to sort out that side of his game I'd try and keep him too. The lad is troubled, I think it's a sign of strength when a club stands by a player and tries to help him get over whatever personality issue he has instead of dropping him as quickly as possible. Personally I do hope Suarez gets therapy and comes back from this. While he's a filthy player when he loses his head he is also an extremely gifted footballer who I, as a United fan, immensely enjoy watching.
