Saturday Surgery

Filed under: Matchday Surgery - Posted by: Mark

It’s one last hurrah. One final chance to make a significant dent in that mini-league gap or perhaps make that sprint for the finishing line. A double Gameweek with six teams is perhaps a rarity at this stage in the season, particularly one that bristles with talent from the Spurs, Chelsea and City squads.

The temptation is to go big: invest heavily and rely on the double Gameweek to deliver but, at the same time, we’ve seen points hit turn sour and, only last weekend, the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke, Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie produce. Do we dare turn our backs on their proven quality?

Fantasy managers will have pondered long and hard but now, with just over an hour to go, it’s time for the deliberation to come to an end.

We’ve spent the week analysing the offerings presented by Spurs, Chelsea, Man City, Wigan, West Brom and Swansea. Those articles were boiled down into this week’s Scout Picks, while the Differentials presented some riskier propositions for those who need that little bit extra.

Our Saturday Surgery chatroom is now open to support those who are looking for some real-time responses. That will be followed up by today’s Dugout Discussion prior to the three o’clock kick-offs. An investigative Pre-match Preamble follows within the hour.

  2. Is Berba, Rafael & Davies > Lukaku, Vertonghen & Stam for -8 worth it?

  3. After an excruciatingly painful second half of the season I've decided this is my last season playing FPL.

My Rival is 100pts ahead of me in one league, my rival in the other league is at least 100 behind me.

Nothing to play for...... Kolarov (c) to bow out in style?

  4. If Unreal replies to this, he jinxes his team today
    :-)

    1. He won't, wrong page.

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
    2. If he goes on replying to everything he will invite the inference that his aim is to annoy not to assist. Does he really want that?

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      1. it's ironic though, the gag is that basically so many posts go ignored at this time. So if everyone just said yes or no, it would actually be a lot easier...

        think about it ;)

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
        1. Think about it?

          Thank you for your advice.

          • 1 year, 5 months ago
      2. He seems to swing wildly between wanting to do those things!

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
    3. :omg:

  5. I guess Kompany it is then. Cheers lads! I took a 20 pt hit last week to try and block off my main rival who is playing his WC this week. I will have 11 DGW players, and am 21 pts ahead. Was that the right strategy to use? I'm not bothered about overall rank at this stage. Just my mini league

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. Imo, yes. I did the same thing this week. Binned RVP purely because I know he also did...

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
    2. -20pts 8O

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      1. The way I saw it, I had those points in the bank. He will defenitely go in with 11 DGW players on his WC. So this was the best way to block him. I think.

  6. Unreal, I know you contribute massively to the site views for this site, but do you really have nothing else to do?
There is so much to do when you are back in college, than just sit around and be on this site. No offence, FFS.

      1. I didn't mean to be rude, 2 years back I went through the same phase when it was my summer holidays. Used to post like hell, and barely had anything else to do.

Then I discovered other interests etc.....This site is fantastic, but try and spend more time on other stuff.

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
        1. You should have said: I didn't mean to be rude, I just meant to be condescending.

          • 1 year, 5 months ago
    3. Pratik, excellent work you have done with the ICC updates site...

Thank you for your efforts, mate...

  8. Possible lineup for Chelsea midfielder...

    Mata-Hazard-Luiz?-Lampard?-Oscar?

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. Luiz Ramires
      Hazard Mata Oscar

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      1. This...except maybe Haz and Oscar flipped.

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
  9. new post lads, preamble

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
  10. Any of these worth -8? Chasing a 50 odd point deficit:

    a) Snodgrass or Fellaini to Nasri, Yaya or Dempsey

    b) DDG to Harte or Cech

These will give me 9 playing twice, rival has 7 (I think)

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
  11. Going Mata Cap come on you little Genius !

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
  12. Davies > Boyce -4 would be a daft move wouldn't it?

  13. A fit berba has really given me a benching headache.
Michu, Berba or Wally for the chop?

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. berba.

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
  14. Is this team good enough?

    Begovic

    Sagna Zaba Demel

    Bale (c) Walcott Mata Michu

    RVP Benteke Tevez

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. sorry, its Hazard not Mata

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
  15. Reposting for more votes!

RvP > Aguero for a hit?

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. is aguero even nailed on for both games?!

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      1. Thanks all.

I think I'll be sticking by Van the man for now.. Do nothing, Aguero

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
    2. be brave go Dzeko!

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      • 1 year, 5 months ago
  16. Worth a hit to either of these?

    Evans > Clichy or Boyce.

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. Boyce is in scoring form so a tentative yes.

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      1. 1 goal in ages is hardly scoring form. :) I just don't have any Wigan and who knows they may keep a CS?!

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
    2. I think it would be worth it for Clichy if you think he will play both games. Personally I'm not convinced.

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
      1. I don't know and nobody else besides Mancini does either. I do like his fixtures after the double though.

        • 1 year, 5 months ago
  17. Play martin or enrique?

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
    1. Martrin i suppose. Close call.

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
    2. Q

SAmerica dilemma..I'm with Enrique at the mo

      • 1 year, 5 months ago
  18. Baines will score 2 points wont he, so basically Kompany have to score 1 CS to pay the hit of.. worth it?

    • 1 year, 5 months ago
  19. Silva makes it to Spot the Differential. Big haul coming up! :D :D

“Last year was quite open for me, I was in good positions, but I was quite lucky because I was getting free kicks and some penalties as well.”
