Letting players on players on 80k+ leave frees up a lot as anything spent is spread over the years of the contract. i.e Willian 30m + 70k pw on 5 years deal means we're charged 6 for the move (covered by Maloudas 100k a week contract) and they wages are covered by the others.

Looks like it, the Chelsea midfield is just far too congested and they need an out and out forward. Man United want a midfielder of quality, it makes sense but whether both clubs want to play ball is an entirely different matter. Once mondays game is out of the way things could escalate quickly.
