Monitor – David Silva

Having failed miserably to defend their title last time out, City’s decision to install Manuel Pellegrini at the helm is a deliberate move away from the more conservative approach favoured by Roberto Mancini. The Chilean’s summer acquisition of forwards Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic, however, while good news for City fans, has led to fears that the up-front rest and rotation policy so favoured by Mancini will once again rear its head.

With a goal and assist over the first couple of Gameweeks, David Silva has thrown his hat in the ring as a real alternative route into an attack that has already racked up six goals – more than any other side in the top-flight. The little Spaniard affords a far greater security of game time, with his creativity crucial to creating chances for Pellegrini’s frontmen and ahead of a home clash with Hull, his Fantasy bandwagon is in overdrive as Eden Hazard and Juan Mata owners look to the City playmaker as a premium midfield alternative.

In this latest article for members, we analyse Silva’s performances so far. Check on his progress compared to last season and assess his credentials at the most sought-after midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

The way Chel play so high up the pitch & lesser teams getting used to defending deep against them Chels almost playing a 4-6-0 formation, not sure any Chel FW will get goals playing like that.

Getting rid of Hazard like everyone else I'd assume.

Silva or Nolan? For the next 4 weeks or so.

If Nolan, I can afford to get RVP in for Soldado for a hit GW4 if I want to, if Silva, I won't be getting him for the considerable future.

This is the another real advantage of not wildcarding in the first two gameweeks. If big signings are made (Eto'o, Willian and Lamela) and i presume more to come or if Bale stays you can easily wildcard and have all the players at your disposal.
