Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gurn

It was a case of “one in, one out” on Saturday’s edition of Tightrope Watch, as the population swelled briefly to 28 before a Baggies midfield enforcer fell foul of the referee’s wrath on Tyneside. Sunday delivered a couple more five-card tricks, as the ban stick finally hit its target:

Saturday’s advent on the outskirts of the suspension jungle arrived midway through Stoke’s 4-0 drubbing at Everton, with a yellow card shown to Geoff Cameron after his foul on stand-in left back, Bryan Oviedo, just before the opening goal. As with the existing community of offenders, the US international will now have to endure the rest of the year looking over his shoulder in the knowledge that just one more malefaction could result in an enforced rest.

Meanwhile, graduating from the tightrope and flung headlong into that enforced rest this week are a trio of transgressors. First up, West Brom’s Congolese midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu earned his fifth card of the season for a foul on Yohan Cabaye late in the St James’ Park clash and will sit out the midweek hosting of Manchester City – perhaps he’ll use the time to consider what his future holds after his desire to move to “a more classy club” was made public.

Secondly, in the Sunday lunchtime fare, gurner extraordinaire Phil Jones clipped Mousa Dembélé to hand Spurs another 20-yard free-kick chance and earn himself a midweek rest for the visit of Everton – where Marouane Fellaini looks set to receive a frosty reception in his place. Finally, Hull’s Curtis Davies succumbed to a ban of his own after felling Jordan Henderson for the free-kick which led to Liverpool’s equalising goal at the KC. His absence at Arsenal coinciding perfectly with the return of James Chester – fresh from a price drop to 3.8m, and poised to offer extraordinary value once the Tigers’ fixtures ease.

Finally, Palace’s Yannick Bolasie serves the second of a three-match ban, whilst returning from suspension ready for the midweek fixtures will be German defender Sascha Riether, as his Fulham side, under the new management of René Meulensteen, seek to avoid a seventh straight loss in all competitions.

Posted before few times but sadly had no reply:

Hi Guys! Help will be very appreciate

    Mignolet - Boruc
    Zabaleta - Johnson - Ivanovic - Mertesacker - Shaw
    Hazard - Ramsey - Lallana - Barkley - Ravel
    Remy - Suarez - Benteke

    1FT £1.3m in the bank

Don't know what to do really. Want to get rid of Benteke
but I have to do 2 transfers to get one of the top strikers (and which one?)
and there is also Boruc who needs replecement.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Krul supposedly rotates well with Boruc.

I did Benteke to Lukaku. However that was before the Boruc injury.

    Hmmmm.. so here's the dilemma.

Boruc falling (Davis backup GK), Marshall rising

    Already took a (-4).

Worth another hit to get Marshall in? Would keep him until Jan. WC.

Would be (-8) total on the week.

I don't think the first hit is a valid reason not to take a second. Having said that, I wouldn't do it; wait till next week because IMO it's unlikely marshall will pay off that hit this week..

Well and truly shafted this week after a run of good results…To top it off Boruc was injured and so it was time to call in my astute pick as a non playing 3.9 keeper..DAVIS !!…No such luck, crocked as well and in the same week…So no keeper now.

Having lost both keepers I decided to do a bit of research into the state of the keepers so far this season and look into rotations or a single keeper options….or maybe bring Gazzaniga in to replace Boruc for a 3.9/3.9 keeper combo (bad fixtures). Here is a list of the “perfect” home and away rotators and the number of CS’s had anybody chosen to rotate regardless of cost and played with the home keeper each week this season to date.

    City/United 8 clean sheets
    Liverpool/Everton 7 clean sheets
    Soton/Wham 7 clean sheets
    Arsenal/Spurs 6 clean sheets
    Hull/CPL 5 clean sheets
    Villa/WBA 4 clean sheets
    Cardiff/Swansea 4 clean sheets
    Newcastle/Sunderland 4 clean sheets

So far the top performing teams defensively, for both home and away games this season are

    Spurs 7 clean sheets (Lloris)
    Everton 7 clean sheets (Howard)
West Ham 7 clean sheets (Jaaskalinen)
    ( Southampton 6 clean sheets [Boruc !!] )

Clearly nothing to be gained from home and away rotation whichever pair is used and with all other keepers trailing in the wake of the above three candidates I went further back to discover the longevity of those keepers/teams form

    GW30-GW38 21012

    Everton (Howard) 7 clean sheets
    Spurs (Lloris) 2 clean sheets
West Ham (Jaaskalinen) 3 clean sheets

With nothing to pick between the three teams on the Ticker, over the next ten games, Howard does have the easiest “run” amongst those three candidates after the next two GW’s..

With fourteen clean sheets since GW 30 last season 5.6 mill and only 5.9 % ownership Tim Howard is the best goalie pick in the game…by miles and miles and miles…Or should I stick with the 3.9/3.9 combo ?

Nobody ever transfers them WR...or rarely anyway...so it's a rare chance to look at it for anybody who had Boruc... Migs is actually a bit pants for his money, well not him but the clowns in front of him who keep leting him down, same with Glen Johnson...GJ> Collins for me soon. Good fixtures for Pool might improve things for a while though.

repost again, for those of us with the boruc to another cheapie problem,
out of the next 10 matches:
myhill: 5 home games (1 vs bottom half side), 4/10 games overall vs bottom half sides
marshall: 4 home games (3 vs bottom half side), 5/10 games overall vs bottom half sides
speroni: 6 home games (4 vs bottom half side), 5/10 games overall vs bottom sides

(note hull are not a bottom half team)

    form last 5:
    myhill: LWDDL
    marshall: DWLDL
    speroni: LLDWL

so speroni looks best for fixtures on paper, all have had mixed form of late.........

I am seriously considering getting Whittingham:

    1. Good fixtures
    2. Nailed on in these busy times
    3. On penalties and freekicks
    4. He's cheap 😀

    Good idea?

You getting him? He plays and will get some occasional assists and penalty goals. You really want a nailed on cheap mid at these times where the big hitters are getting rested.
