Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Devilish

The visit of former club Everton proved crucial for all the wrong reasons last night as Wayne Rooney toppled off the Suspension Tightrope. United’s main man delivered no more than a yellow card for his growing legion of Fantasy owners and subsequently earned himself a one-match ban, having picked up five cautions for the campaign:

Rooney now misses Saturday’s home game with Newcastle as David Moyes attempts to recover from the defeat to his former club and with Robin Van Persie still a real doubt, the United boss has plenty of issues up top against the Magpies.

Jonas Olsson is also set for the weekend off as West Brom prepare to welcome Norwich to The Hawthorns. The Baggies centre-half also earned his fifth booking of the season in last night’s home loss to City – an ever-present this term for the midlands outfit, his absence is set to give Diego Lugano or Craig Dawson a rare start alongside Gareth McAuley at centre-half.

West Ham’s Ravel Morrison also sits on the naughty step this weekend as his side head to Anfield. The former United midfielder picked up his fifth yellow for pushing Palace’s Joel Ward in the face in Tuesday evening’s loss at Selhurst Park – his owners will at least be relieved to hear Morrison will receive no further punishment for his behaviour and is available for the Gameweek 16 clash against Sunderland.

Two players clamber onto this week’s Suspension Tightrope after picking up their fourth cautions of the season. The culpable duo in question are Southampton’s Jose Fonte and Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback – if they collect another yellow in the next six Gameweeks, they will trigger the automatic one-match ban. Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy now moves onto six bookings after falling foul of the referee’s wrath in last night’s defeat at Swansea.

Elsewhere, Palace winger Yannick Bolasie serves the last of a three-match ban at home to Cardiff this Saturday. In terms of returns, Hull welcome back Curtis Davies for their trip to Swansea after the centre-half missed last night’s 2-0 loss at the Emirates, while West Brom’s Youssouf Mulumbu and United’s Phil Jones are also available for home games against Norwich and Newcastle respectively.

Pity bout Rooney (s) in a way as I can see all our frontlines narrowing even more now especially with Remy dropping off as well ,
    Aguero / Suarez / Lukaka
This only plays into the casuals hands even more especially as the Yaya / Ozil / Rambo / Hazzard mf hasn't been broken into yet ,
So at the moment all were playing for is scraps around the defensive areas IMO , I know we're not allowed but this game needs a few injuries coupled with Rvp /Wally /silva / Michu / Brunt etc finding form , and the quicker jan comes with hopefully a few new Van Der Vart / Sissoko signings coupled with the Wc - the better or else it will truly and utterly be

For the first time this season i'm really stuck and don't know what to do. Any ideas that might help me forward? 0.5 in the bank:

    Migs - 4.0 cheapie
    Ivan - Mert - Ward - Burner - Murner
    Gerrard - Sess - Lallana - Ramsey - Amalfitano
    Suarez - Aguero - Rooney

Don't want to take out Rooney cause i loose too much value.

Best i could come up with is Sess -> Redmond, then Ivan + Lallana -> Distin & 9.X mid next GW but that's just a meh move and my team this GW would be shit with Rooney benched.

    Any indeas?

Despite a Gameweek of 33 Goals, the Defenders picked up the highest proportion of the 75 Bonus points given out. The Breakdown was:

Keepers: 2 pts Wk 14 (5.8% for season to date)
Defenders: 33 pts Wk 14 (37.6% for season to date)
Midfielders: 28 pts Wk 14 (30.9% for season to date)
Forwards: 12 pts Wk 14 (25.7% for season to date)

The main talking point of the Baps this week was the 15 Baps given out to Palace players - 3 for the goalscorer, 2 for the assister and 2 each to the entire Back 5. In a push for transparency, this kind of result is unsatisfactory and it needs looking at..............

As G-G-Granville posted earlier, perhaps we need a player to score a minimum no. of points under the new system, in order to qualify for any Baps ?

First time ever in the top 100k at this stage of the season. No doubt thanks to this site, some great tips on here. Question is, how hard is it to stay around this rank and how hard is it to climb further? At what point do you look for differentials because I assume most of the top teams have a lot of the same players.

This season is harder than others it seems. As long as Yaya, Ramsey, Hazard, Suarez & the other casual players keep firing then getting green arrows is harder. It's the other 6 or so playing players that make the difference.

        Here's the link: http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/23/ouch-luis-suarez-left-with-impresive-stud-marks-after-kevin-mirallas-challenge-4198704/

He's still feeling the affects of Mirallas' challenge.

Fair enough, it is consistent with what Rodgers said about him playing with a calf injury. Whether he is definitely out of the next game is what I need to know.

I meant that I am 100% confident that he will not play vs WHU and hence my decision to sell.

His ankle is swollen apparently, doesn't sound good with a game 2 days away. I'm probably getting rid of him anyway to free some funds.

    Ozil's last two: 11, 11.

Many (including Forca) said it was about time I shipped him before Cardiff...

Redmond or Bannan in for Morrison? I might need to do this in order to have money in the bank for Migs-->Howard next week.

I'm in the same boat - probably gonna go Redmond, more threat/upside.

Look at Lukaku's fixtures, and compare him and Rooney since GW5

The bigger picture might just state that it is better in the long run to have a cheaper forward like Lukaku and a more expensive reliable mid, as opposed to Rooney and a cheaper mid who isn't at all reliable. That's part of the logic, and Lukaku is nothing to sneeze at. Truly is a beast. If you already have Suarez and Aguero, then Rooney on top can make things too top heavy. Having Rooney is of course a good thing in general, but I'd rather have Suarez, Aguero, Lukaku, and someone like Gerrard as opposed to Suarez, Aguero, Rooney, and Barkley (insert any other cheaper mid name). Sorry for the novel.
