The ScoutCast – Episode 119 – Throaty

Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

Who to bench? One of these 4:-

Ramsey (mci) - Obviously dangerous as he scores when he wants.
Countinho (tot) - Could do nothing again but stats are great.
Nasri (ARS) - Good chance of being benched but could do well if he plays.
Rav Mo (SUN) - Have to play him really, don't I?

depends if u want silva long term as oscar has better fixture this week & is cheaper option

i would go oscar personally unless you going to buy hazard later on.

My gut says just leave it on Suarez and see what happens. I must admit though its a nice position to be in as I have four for the five key captain choices. If my captain blanks but my other three do well I'll still be pretty happy.

He was saying that Arsenal are the best team that City have faced. When City came up against the best defence in the PL (at the time) they swept them aside. The point im trying to make is that City on their day can score freely against anyone.

As a mini-league rival I'd probably be most worried if I looked at your team on Saturday and saw you'd captained Aguero, mainly because I don't have him.

Everyone has Suarez. Some have Aguero, Some have Rooney. Many are getting Lukaku in or have him. I think it'll come down to Rooney v Ageuro this week in terms of contribs and mod league movement irrespective of the armband.

Fwiw Jonty I'm in same boat :
Aguero - Safe prob 1 goal in a 2/3 goal scenario for city
Lukaka - opportunity for a brace against a very poor Fulham tho I would have preferred Jol in charge , I don't like this Mun factor tbh and will the old Everton just scrape over the line ?

Summary - if your chasing Lukaku (c) ,
If you wanna play safe / Boring Aguero (c)
      I've both , I'm on Lukaku.

Rooney...better fixture and while ManU's form is poor his isn't. He still looks great and I think with RVP back and no Vlaar he will do well. Aguero should do well, but the opposition is tricky. The Arsenal defence has done well on the road so far.

Delph and Vlaar out, Rooney playing well. United need a win.

Aguero on fire, City at home, Arsenal very tired.

Comes down to differential for me i think. Rooney

            After the two goal game he's scored 1, 1, 5, 0, 2, 0, 1, 2. Whatever way you look at it, that's pretty bad.

Tbh, it's more that quite a few on here seemed to expect him to start most weeks (after the two goals, as often happens on here) and, as he played for Man United, he'd automatically be in the points and would be a total bargain.

Ah yeah, tis shite. But I think it's failed in getting me more pts rather than it's cost me pts if you know what I mean. Like not getting Aguero for Nor & going Gerrard over Hazard has. In that sense I can't be too annoyed with it.

I don't see how he has been a total car crash. Depending on when you got him in, you could have made a profit, a couple of assists for the easy games and benched him in other, and it's not like any mids in the price range tore it up. Sessegnon would be more of a car crash.

How can anyone possibly consider a 12.45 captain?

But of assistance chance still wavering.
    a) Chico to Distin and Sess to Fer (need latter to fund former)
    b) Chico to Debuchy and carry one FT to next week for Sess to Cabaye with another FT in reserve
    c) Chico to Distin AND Mignolet to Krul

    Already have Coleman

    Much appreciate chaps.

It's absolutely nothing to do with performance and all to do with jokey superstition.

There's little worse in fantasy for me than a captain blank at 12.45 on a Saturday and then having to endure 28 hours of watching all your other candidates rack up returns.

Works in the other direction as well of course...

    Early wildcard considerations:

Would it be wise to go for something like this:

    Howard (cheap 2nd keeper)
    Coleman-Koscielny-3 rotating cheapies e.g. Ward-Burner-Chester
Silva-Hazard-Özil-R Morrison (Bannan or some such)
    Agüero-Suarez-Lukaku

This way you could fit in 6 big attacking big hitters + two possibly rotating cheap midfield options.

Maybe doubling up on Everton is not wise anymore in January (I haven't checked the schedule) but something like the above would be possible with a team value of not more than 106,2.

    Any comments?

Ok, I personally have none of the mentioned midfield big hitters but Ramsey, Nasri and Oscar instead.

Just noticed that by sacrificing Terry and A Williams I could effectively upgrade those three to Özil, Silva and Hazard (have 3,5 in the bank)

Same boat - I certainly wouldn't get rid. Aguero is fixture proof at home and gets enough away and not having Suarez thus far is basically season over.

Rooney is the only one to consider shipping with RVP back but his fixtures are very generous until well into the January WC so I certainly wouldn't use a transfer on it. I might consider it with the WC.
