The ScoutCast – Episode 119 – Throaty

Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

Is Whittaker going to be getting more minutes? Seems tempting with the fixtures and 3.9 price tag.

Also, any news on when Vlaar is coming back?

Good question on Whittaker. No idea how to predict who will start for that defense. Changes a lot. Enough to make me wary. As for Vlaar, no idea on that one.

i have Murner and think they may both keep their places after the CS this weekend. prior to that norwich were conceding huge numbers, he could stick with them.

Bring in Jagielka or Redmond this week? If I bring in Jagielka, I don't have to play GJ at Tottenham. If I bring in Redmond, I don't have to play Brady home to Stoke or Januzaj at Villa. Redmond is very nailed on and Norwich have scored 12 goals in their last 4 games against Swansea and thus is quite tempting

Um. Let me think for a second. I kind of think Brady might have a good game against Stoke. Sure, he hasn't racked up the points lately, but not for a lack of trying. By this, I mean that I saw one of their more recent games, and he was all into it. Just didn't get points. Sometimes, it happens that way. Also, I'm not sure GJ won't do well against Totty. Would be nice to have Jags, though, as that run of fixtures is just so nice. Other defenders?

Brady will be nailed to the bench this weekend. Janu a 50/50 chance at a start seems to be - bring in Redmond to start this weekend and play GJ then ship GJ for Jags for the next GW.

well they had arguments that the liverpool midfield wouldn't a supply suarez a lot now that Gerrard and Stu is out but he's suarez so I don't doubt him not doing well. But a lot of people might still select him and others would like to spice it up a little that's why they try to change the trend.

no idea which combo to go for:

    A: howard + ward
    B: marshall + jagielka....costs an extra 0.8m

    myhill boruc
    vidic olson mert burner dawson
    ramsey hazard nasri coutinho januzaj
    suarez aguero lukaku

B costs 0.8m more and will require an extra transfer in gw20 to do myhill > speroni who will rotate with marshall BUT, both marshall and jagielka will get more points (either from save points or baps) as compared to A.

The good thing is surely he can avoid getting another one. He would be a tool if he didn't.

Mannone is my starting GK for now, have migs before that and I dont really see the diff so Mannone is my cheeky punt for now 😉

Have completely no idea who my captain gonna be as there are so many options

Hi guys, anyone think i should take a 4 point hit to do Giroud to Lukaku? Or just transfer next GW for free?

    Team is:

    Mignolet
    Flanagan, Terry, Jagielka, Williams
    Ozil, Toure, Ramsey
    Giroud, Suarez, Aguero

    Comments appreciated.

I wouldnt take a hit. You can't guarantee that Lukaku will score anymore than Giroud won't.

That's true, i seem to think this cuty and arsenal game will be short of goals, when it could very well be a goal fest.

I think 5 players is a pretty big gamble on that though.

I agree but many will be in the same boat, and not gonna take something like an 8 point hit to change itnfor one game lol

Hi Moss, I think that is worth a hit. I assume you don't have the cash for Rooney? He would be even better I suspect

    Hey lads!

Liverpool last 5 games 17 goals and Coutinho only 1+1. Is it just badluck or do i need to dump him in the future (not this gw, made allready trans.) ?? And if so. who i should take in? 0.2 in the bank

I have drafted in Cout as a differential and I am sticking

Have seen all the games he played and he's hugely influential (often the assist to the assist though ) and he shoots a fair bit just not many goals at the momment 🙂

Think he will do better with Stevie G out

I saw few of those games allso and think you are right. Maybe i just need to have patience. I know he is in the middle of the game all time and one of the potential player in the whole league. So i prolly stick with him. Thanks lads!

He hasn't got many points all season so personally wouldn't have him at this point. If you are going to keep him this week you might as well wait until after at home to Cardiff before making a decision. His form may change by then. You never know

I keep flopping between him and aguero, if I had lukaku i might take a punt on him, but I haven't got the balls to give it to hazard.

Aguero could do really well, it's between him and suarez myself also, i don't think it would be worth putting it on hazard anyway.

    My GW16 Team:

    Howard
    Coleman | Terry | Burner/Chester
    Redmond | Yaya | Ramsey | Hazard
    Aguero | Suarez | Lukaku(c)

    Bench: McGregor, Burner/Chester, Brady, Vlaar

    0 FT, 0.9 in bank.

    1. Should I play Burner or Chester? Or both?
    2. 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 for this week and drop which midfielder if 4-3-3?

Looks like this will be a crucial week for Rooney or Lukaku captainers. Have both but can't decide who to captain!

What are thoughts on the 2?

I'd think what tips it in Rooney's favour is that even if United is playing poorly he is a game changer whereas for Lukaku, he's more a finisher and if Everton have an off day, he'd likely blank.

But if Everton play well, Lukaku has every chance to get a monster haul doesn't he?

That's what I'm leaning to at the moment. Lukaku and everton playing well, Fulham have lost 5 of their last 6 games though with a new manager for the last 2. hmm. Tough call. What are you going with Stoosher?
