Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

      Since we don't know when either is back, let the fixtures decide.

      Vlaar's fixtures are much, much better if he comes back soon. You wouldn't want to play Clyne for most of the next six anyway, especially with half the first choice Southampton defence out of action.

    I was hearing that Graeme Smith was pretty peeved at being dropped for De Kock, is this true? Apparently he left the squad altogether to prepare for the tests instead.

      Not sure Copps. We had our Xmas lunch last Friday and Graeme arrived at the restaurant. He really has a hell of a chip on his shoulder.

      Most cricket fans in SA thinks he should concentrate on the longer format of the game.

      Shelvey should leave. Swans fixtures are about to turn nasty and Michu and Bony are back now so he'll drop deeper which probably ends his appeal.

      Can you afford Cabaye for Shelvey next week? Or a cheapie like Bannan/Redmond so that you can upgrade Sess later?

      😀 I've sort of learned my lesson. Then again, I punted on Chiriches the other week and got his goal but then he got injured 👿 And then Vertonghen got injured too 👿 👿

          Not really. I do feel very chastened by the Bony saga and I'll be keeping any punts quite low-key for a good while 🙂

          I had a major thing for Lewis Holtby last season which obviously went nowhere but he's looking interesting now. And like everyone else, I'm on Lamela-watch but I think it's far too early.

          Anyone taking your fancy?

            Hooper. But I wouldn't dare drop any of Aguero, Suarez or Lukaku for him.

            He's scored decent over the past few weeks for his price, Norwich have good upcoming fixtures, as you may probably know, and I just have a thing for him.

              Great direct player, very Steven Fletcher-esque. I can see why Chris Hughton went for him. It somehow escaped my attention that he'd scored so well recently.

              But yeah, dropping any of the big strikers sounds like a kicking waiting to happen. Need to punt in midfield where you wouldn't be missing out on much if it goes wrong.

                Also, my mates a die hard Celtic fan. So I know he had it in him lol.

                I might bring Fer in, after a little research. But I'd need an extra £0.7m along with my cash in the bank to upgrade my punty player, El Ahmadi. Played him once and he scored 😉

    Just curious, whats your your normal plan when it comes to choosing your defense? Do u rotate between to cheapies or just stick to 1 cheap defender?

          I've got him in my fantasy team which was a massive error of judgement. I thought doubling on the Chelsea defence was a sure fire way of 2 clean sheets most weeks.

          It could be a great punt but you also have to factor in that Raheem goes missing for 89 minutes of the game in most matches.even against rubbish opponents.

    People who are asking wether to bench players like Ozil or not, are you serious!! You paid 10.0+ million for him and your going to bench him! Who cares who he may be playing, he has an expensive price tag because of the level of quality and skill he has, and can produce against any opponent on any day. Why even buy an expensive player only to bench him?!
