Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII – Seventh Round Draw

We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

Hi guys- first time posting so apologies if this has already been covered. First time playing FF so its been a big learning curve.

    Current team for GW 20:
    Guzan
    mert,kosh,kompany
    januzaj, yaya, Hazard, wallcott
    negredo,suarez© lukaku

    Subs:dawson, rosenior, ward prowse

-Planing to leave my WC as late a possible- can my current team survive until then?
-was thinking of bringing rooney & aguero back with the WC but would have to loose one of the big 3 in mid- thoughts?

    Cheers

Good team, you will be fine for the short term. Play your wc as late as you possibly can unless of a big change in events imo.

Your bench should all play so if they come in you will get some points at least. Bench should read JWP, Dawson, Ros.

If you want to bring Ag back in then I would lose Yaya so you are covering all bases with other teams.

With all these injuries. With Burner liv and Chester ars. Would it be worth it to bring in players for a hit. Or just play chester or burner? Diffucult games.

Hits in weeks where the average score is likely to be lower (due to rotation/injuries to template players) are more costly, IMO

hits can pay off handsomely though if it means getting a full 11 players. they end up being 2pt hits in reality and one assist/goal pays off easily with interest

True, if you definitely can't get 11 out then i'd take a hit, but the original poster was talking about having to play Chester or Burner, so obviously still has a bench

Hes talking about if a player isnt playing. And the incoming player gets 2 points. Hence a 2pt hit!

Yes, but in terms of a 4 point hit in a week where the average is about 40 points that's 10% of the avg score whereas a hit on a big scoring week could be around 6-7%.

Also this close to the Jan WC there is significantly less time for a hit to pay itself off over a number of weeks.

As I said in my first post, this is just my opinion.

Kosc hogs baps after Mert but thought Sagna is pretty attacking with his high positioning, plus his crosses hv been pretty good. Sagna has won more Aerial duels than Kosc, plus he goes up for Set Pieces. Kosc has rotation threat frm Vermaelen, whereas Sagna nailed on.

Go Kosc in my opinion, only thing that really separates it is Kosc being 0.1 cheaper

I go home and away with West Ham and Sagna put in the best defensive shift I have seen so far this year on boxing day but in fantasy terms I would want Kosc. Problem is Evra would have to go for him. I will sort this (Evans) in the wildcard but I am holding out for Augero.

      Difficult game week

    Cazorla in for Silva?

Someone is going to have to score/assist the goals.

How long to price rise, folks? Thinking of using FT to do Distin ➡ Koscielny/Debuchy.

    Szczesny
    Distin*, Terry, Coleman, Gabbidon
    Walcott (vc), Cabaye, Sterling
    Rooney, Suarez (c), Negredo

    Harper, Morrison, Vlaar, Silva

Vlaar has been back in training if that's any good to you? Could make it.

Ah, that's good news. That could change my mind to saving the transfer. Many times do I fancy Sunderland to score but they have been doing the opposite - clean sheets.

I'd keep Distin and use the FT on Morrison who's definitely out

In which case save the transfer, just thinking you might end up with a player off the bench this week if Walcott and/or Rooney's out or Sterling is rested
