Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Siesta

When the team sheets arrived for City’s home clash against Palace on Saturday afternoon, a certain little Spaniard’s Fantasy owners were full of optimism for the 90 minutes ahead. By the final whistle, though, those same folk were left cursing their misfortune as David Silva handed them the most unwanted of Christmas cards – a fifth caution of the season which rules him out of Wednesday’s trip to Swansea.

Silva not only seems to have stepped up in consistency under Manuel Pellegrini (a goal or assist in eight of 11 appearances), he has also developed a penchant for picking up yellows. Over his previous three seasons with the Etihad club, the playmaker had received a total of four bookings in the league – he’s managed to mirror that already this term and with a caution accrued in the Capital One Cup, he’ll be tucking into his New Year’s Day dinner while Pellegrini’s side make their way to the Liberty.

Also sidelined through suspension are a couple of defenders – Villa’s Ciaran Clark and Chelsea’s David Luiz. Clark will miss a crucial trip to Sunderland, whilst Luiz, in just his eighth league start, picked up a fifth caution of the season in yesterday’s home win over Liverpool and will sit out the trip to Southampton.

The trio joined Sunderland’s Wes Brown on the banned list – the Black Cats centre-half serves the last of a three-match ban and will be available for the FA Cup clash against Carlisle at the weekend.

After Wednesday, the Tightrope extends to 10 bookings, with the new deadline Sunday April 13 (Gameweek 34). A special mention goes to Newcastle’s right-back Mathieu Debuchy – with seven cautions to his name, the Frenchman is just three yellows away from suspension already.

I (stupidly) brought him in last week as a cheap Sunderland defender. As far as I'm aware he can play anywhere across the back but has been playing left back since dossena is rubbish. I could be wrong but I think alonso might well take that left back spot or deputise for Johnson on the left wing. Not good methinks.

I'd hate to play Parker at anytime. You want attacking MF's - mutch would be a better bet than Parker if you are looking to never play - as he's a regular starter in forward position. Or go the whole hog and get Kasami - at least he's more advanced that Parker.

      3 for me.

This is very similar to my dilemma, although I have Whitts/Brunt who I am looking to ship. I'm still deciding myself whether to make a transfer at! But then again both could pay off with Kos getting 6+ and Sterling anything up to 15 is likely.

Parker/Chico are likely to score 3/4 between them. Murner slight chance of cs but could be another 2. 5 all together or Sterling 8 + Kos 6 -4 = 10.

      Hit it! Or me!

Just looked at my opponent in the cup. To note the difference:

Opponent: Krul / Ki / Barkley / Rooney [Sub1: possibly Redmond]

    vs

    My team: Speroni / Walcott / Sterling / 7.9m forward [Sub1: Baker]

So now, who should be that forward? Fletcher to compete with Ki? Adebayor? Hooper? [Presently, I still have Berbatov and might go with Berbatov, if there is definite news of him starting]

Are you trying to justify captaining Walcott?

How does the Free Wildcard work? From 1st Jan until the 14th, can we make changes and confirm them and then change them again a few days later, like unlimited??

So that means we can just put all the players in that do well this week and let their value go up and make money on them and then change them to the players you actually want just before the deadline??

Yep...Don't touch the player you intend to keep. Take out the ones you want to replace and put the fastest rising players in for the period (total FPL) to get all the price rises...then half an hour before the deadline take those fastest rising player out and replace with the ones you actually want...and you keep the money as well as getting the players you want...Top Tip...

Just make sure not to do it with the players you intend to keep though or else you lose the money you have made on them...

only counts if players u bring in rise 0.2 though!! to gain anythin from them as selling price wont rise with a 0.1 rise? Right or wrong? could be wrong!!

Slow risers are good as well...so those who are perched on a 90% rise from the previous week are likely to double rise if they had a reasonable GW...

not for me, i reckon deep deep down you know it's only a lack of alternatives that has brought you to this question too, rather than thinking, "ooh wilshere"

Anyone thought on Jan WC GK pairings? For me it will be down to Marshall/Mannone or ditching Howard for DDG or Sir Ches.

I have DDG not thoroughly impressed by him and prefer M&M as you are suggesting which is also cheeper

I think I am set on Marshall and Mannone, my experiment with one keeper every week has been a disaster, and that rotation is just divine

Sunderland look solid for the most part undef Poyet (no Brown or O'Shea in the last game) and Caridff will surely tighten up under the new man.

Both are also cheap and get lots of saves

I see your point, but Ward,Chester and MOlsson is decent 3 way if you want to go that route

For me Marshall may be worth the extra. I am getting Hull and CPL in my defence, it's just a question of whether I go with the MOlsson rotation or have them as cheap sub options and go Coleman, Zaba and Kos/Evans

Not interested in Norwich - their players and I never get along (apart from Bunn and his pen save vs QPR). Will consider it cheers
