Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Siesta

When the team sheets arrived for City’s home clash against Palace on Saturday afternoon, a certain little Spaniard’s Fantasy owners were full of optimism for the 90 minutes ahead. By the final whistle, though, those same folk were left cursing their misfortune as David Silva handed them the most unwanted of Christmas cards – a fifth caution of the season which rules him out of Wednesday’s trip to Swansea.

Silva not only seems to have stepped up in consistency under Manuel Pellegrini (a goal or assist in eight of 11 appearances), he has also developed a penchant for picking up yellows. Over his previous three seasons with the Etihad club, the playmaker had received a total of four bookings in the league – he’s managed to mirror that already this term and with a caution accrued in the Capital One Cup, he’ll be tucking into his New Year’s Day dinner while Pellegrini’s side make their way to the Liberty.

Also sidelined through suspension are a couple of defenders – Villa’s Ciaran Clark and Chelsea’s David Luiz. Clark will miss a crucial trip to Sunderland, whilst Luiz, in just his eighth league start, picked up a fifth caution of the season in yesterday’s home win over Liverpool and will sit out the trip to Southampton.

The trio joined Sunderland’s Wes Brown on the banned list – the Black Cats centre-half serves the last of a three-match ban and will be available for the FA Cup clash against Carlisle at the weekend.

After Wednesday, the Tightrope extends to 10 bookings, with the new deadline Sunday April 13 (Gameweek 34). A special mention goes to Newcastle’s right-back Mathieu Debuchy – with seven cautions to his name, the Frenchman is just three yellows away from suspension already.

With my 2 FTs would it be madness to downgrade Lukaku and upgrade Barkley to someone like Cabaye or Llalana? Almost want to try 5 mids for a while. Problem is Rooney this week. Would like him to start if I do that.

I wouldnt want to be stuck with both Rooney and Silva this week tbh. There is bound to be some rotation to other players as well.

Can't wait to get under way again, hoping to do a lot better this week after the disaster that was GW19.

    My team for GW20:
    Guzan (Morrison)
    Gabbidon, Kompany, Bardsley, Mertesacker, Coleman
Walcott, Yaya Touré (Lallana) (Januzaj) (Morrison)
    Suárez, Negredo, Rooney

    Sorry re-post...

    Mignolet
    Coleman - Gabbidon - Bardsley
Hazard - Walcott (vc) - Ravel* - Kasami
    Suarez (c) - Rooney - Negredo

    Marshall - Vlaar* - Burner - Silva*

    A. Play Vlaar ahead of Salami?

    B. Can I save my FT? Can't be arsed trying to work out what to do anymore.

Ok lads, looking to sort out my defence this week as I'm wildcarding late, so gonna hang onto Silva. Rival has Mert so I'm looking at 3 different options, which looks best? (Clyne and Williams out)

    a) Kos and Zaba then sell Evans to Ward next week or play 4 at the back with Ki benched (other defender is Goalman)

    b) Kos with Ward to rotate with Burner and cut off his Arsenal defence

    c) Zaba with Ward for the extra attacking threat.

Ok guys, have to ask for some advice. With no T's:

    Howard (Pantilimon)

Coleman - Mert - Gabbidon (Lovren + Whittaker)

Henderson - Januzaj - Toure - Hazard (Ramsey)

    Rooney - Podolski - Suarez

Podolski was a punty move last game week, but with Bentner coming in for the sub I'm not sure if I should stick.

Podolski to Remy for FT and stick?

Yeah I will have Aguero and Suarez then anyway. Does playing 3-5-2 sound wise with a midfield that consists of Talent ( Hazard Walcott Sterling ? Whittingham Silva )

I know I see that lol..I mean if you're doing 3-5-2 it's because you're stacking in the mid instead of up front IMO..

That was my preference also ( Rooney ) but would you be able to suggest a team that I can get with my JWC. I have 107.1 Million for a full team and want to go for cheap defence ( Ward Chester etc ) so I can have Hazard Silva Wally in MF and Rooney Aguero and Suarez up front
                Any suggestions?

if you run 3 big forwards then those mids are good. priority number one is nailed on players so that if someone is just rested you definitely have someone coming in. lots of cheap defenders and midfielders being touted..

Regarding 'expensive' goalkeepers..I think I wasted some good building time by holding on to Migs for so long and then replacing with Howard after that for their 'good fixture period'..in hindsight I should have just had Mannone/Boruc/someone else the whole time and be done with it..this season any goalkeeper seems just as likely to bring in CS points as anyone else. At least defenders have the ability/potential to score/assist/baps from good play after conceding whereas the best you can hope for from a GK after conceding is save points, which are stingy anyways..
