Monitor – Adebayor and Eriksen

As Tottenham’s momentum under Tim Sherwood continues to build, two of their first-team have emerged as leading contenders for our Fantasy attention. Since the departure of Andre Villas-Boas, Emmanuel Adebayor has played a part in six (three goals and three assists) of Spurs’ 11 goals over five matches, whilst Christian Eriksen has chipped in with three goals and an assist.

With 36 points apiece in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, many wildcard drafts currently include one of the duo in light of Sherwood’s penchant for attacking football. Both are still very favourably priced, with Adebayor slightly more expensive at 7.8 to 7.3 and, as interest intensifies, we cast an eye over the pair’s recent displays and also compare them to other options in their respective classifications.

Doubling up on Chelsea midfield sounds a bit extreme, then again most of the goals come from midfielders

beloved Dead Zone, please help with my wildcard:

    Boruc Manonne
    Koscielny Jagielka Kolarov Chester Parr
    Hazard Silva Lallana Eriksen Gnabry
    Suarez Aguero Sturridge

I am worried about not having serious Gunner coverage for the nest 3 weeks. Conssdiering Giroud over Sturridge, and getting Sturridge later, but I just don't see Giroud outscoring him, even with great fixtures.

Also don't love Chester...better 4.0 or less options?

Cash in on Jagielka? Make your 3rd DEF spot a 3-way rotation between 3 sub-4.5m. Clyne, W.Brown, Ward perhaps? Even consider Norwich DEF option for a rotation

Rest of the side looks spot on! Lallana/Eriksen can easily become Ramsey, when he gets back and if he fires

Giroud over Sturridge, if no Arsenal coverage is a worry. But I would stick with the current front 3 to be completely honest

I'm not cashing on on Jags, I'm buying him with the wildcard. Everton have some nice home games coming up. You sure a 3 way rotation is better?

Everton have Liverpool, Tottenham & Chelsea away in their next 6

A Coleman or Baines would be better as they offer attacking returns. Jagielka not so much

A 3-way budget rotation will allow you to pick the best/most favourable fixture out of 3...

I went for Giroud for exactly that reason. Ozil is still too inconsistent for my liking. Giroud still the most consistent option for points from the Arsenal attack. Maybe that will change if Ramsey finds his form when he returns, or if Arsenal sign another striker...

Chester is fine where he is. You will only play him when Hull has a nice home fixture. Nothing better for 4.0m.

I don't see a better 4.0 than Chester and even though their fixtures are tricky they are a real unit at home. Awful away mind.

Sturridge over Giroud, this team looks nicely set up to me.

If you were playing both I'd probably veer towards Clyne and Williamson. If thy are in rotation, or part of rotation, I would do Jags as a near-permanent fixture with Chester coming in for Hull home games or a very easy away match.

I'm trying to eek out a plan here. I'm trying to get 3 premier forwards. If I settle on Giroud, Aguero & Suarez. Can a midfield of Hazard, Lallana, Eriksen, Cabaye & Sondgrass be adequate enough? I want to dump Ozil and Silva for Cabaye and Eriksen. Is this madness? I have to be honest Ozil and SIlva are awesome but every week I sit and pray for a goal that never comes from either one of them.

I wouldn't lose Silva tbh, but Ramsey will be better value in the Arsenal midfield than Ozil... and arguably the other 7+m mids are better value too, so I don't mind losing him...

I would get a 4.2-4.3 5th mid though like Noone/Kim, and use the extra 1.6m to upgrade you defence or a better 3rd striker, since you'll likely be playing 3-4-3 most weeks...

Sorry, I left quite sharpish after my comment the last day and missed your reply on the next page...

Yes, you are absolutely right, the humidity made it absolutely unbearable... even with the air-con on...

It was so warm outside, in fact, that it affected the temperature inside the fridge... the bottled water was almost room temperature! 😯

But thankfully there was a monstrous thunderstorm the next night and brought the humidity right down...

        Thanks for your reply Jafa.

It's really between Ki and Janu for me. Ki is nailed on to start, cheaper and on pens.

If I went for Janu, my other keeper will be K. Davis, but if I went for Ki, I can have Mannone to rotate with Boruc.

        What do you think?

        Thanks

Didn't realise Ki was on pens not that SUN get many lulz.

Hmmm...not keen at all on non-playing second gks.

          Ki for me,
          Ki for thee,
          Ki he be.

          😛

Do you think it is fair to directly compare a forward with a midfielder for opportunities etc? I know Ade and Eriksen are in the same team but you wouldn't expect them to get the same number of opportunities and those forward spots have a lot more competition for them.

Depends on average positions. Ozil was the furthest forward player for ARS last week.
