Double Gameweek 31 Recap

The Premier League gave Fantasy managers plenty to plan for earlier this afternoon after announcing new dates for a couple of postponed fixtures. Arsenal’s home clash with Swansea and Newcastle’s game against Everton at St James’ Park will now take place on Tuesday, March 25 – handing all four clubs a double Gameweek 31:

Both matches were due to take place this weekend but have been cancelled due to the Gunners’ FA Cup Quarter-Final clash with Roberto Martinez’ men. This means that 10 teams will now play twice in Gameweek 31 – here’s a quick round-up of the updated fixture-list, which has now been reflected in a refresh of our Season Ticker on the right of your sidebar:

Arsenal – travel to Chelsea before hosting the Swans in midweek.
Everton – entertain Swansea before making their way to St James’ Park.
Hull – play at home to West Brom before travelling to West Ham.
Liverpool – visit Cardiff and host Sunderland at Anfield.
Man City – welcome Fulham to the Etihad prior to their midweek Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
Man United – travel to West Ham and square up to City at home.
Newcastle – one of two sides with a pair of home games, the Magpies entertain Palace and Everton.
Sunderland – Gus Poyet’s side are on their travels twice, first to Norwich then to Liverpool.
Swansea – Garry Monk’s side face two testing trips to Everton and Arsenal.
West Ham – Big Sam’s side play twice at Upton Park, as United and Hull come calling.

Looking at the four new teams to consider, whilst Arsenal’s home clash with Swansea looks promising, the trip to Chelsea almost negates their double. Given that Arsene Wenger’s side also face Everton, Spurs and City between Gameweeks 30-33, many may choose to avoid investing in the Gunners.

Everton, on the other hand, have a home clash with Cardiff and trip to Fulham on either side of their double. With another double still to factor in, they look poised for investment, with Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and Romelu Lukaku the safest options. Kevin Mirallas’ lack of game time last weekend is a real worry for his owners, though some may choose to hold in light of today’s news, with the Belgian potentially rested against West Ham due to the Toffees’ upcoming cup clash with the Gunners.

Newcastle have trips to Fulham and Palace on either side of their two home fixtures, with the likes of Loic Remy staking a claim for a third forward berth after scoring in each of his two appearances since returning from suspension.

Swansea have great fixtures before and after their double. Garry Monk’s side play West Brom and Norwich in Gameweek 30 and 32 respectively but those two road trips look set to pose problems aplenty, with few willing to take a punt.

As always, we’ll have an in-depth look at each of the 10 teams nearer the time as Fantasy managers brace themselves for a Gameweek that may well prove pivotal to the outcome of many a mini-league.

Anybody feel this is a quite an easy/forgiving gameweek?

If you get it right you'll go up a mile, but the drop won't be drastic if you're wrong.

Are those with ambition going to take some gambles or are people playing safe?

      RVP c and 10 playing

Don't think it will pay though , as think it will be a very low scoring week

what about the folk who are touting Cardiff / Fulham as a high scoring game - do you reckon they're taking hits for C / F players in order to take advantage? Or are they just assuming no-one else is, so they're not at risk of falling?

Could well be , but who to go for from them teams ? Also neither have a double gameweek

United seem the only option as they also have the the dbl in 31

My 2 Norwich players have truly shafted me getting 0's and suddenly being doubts for this GW, until then I was happy coasting along this GW with 11 players. Maybe I'm being forced into a bit of a gamble

Do you reckon our friends over at Paddy Power have hit a new low or are they well within their rights to offer murder trial markets?

So sick of gambling culture.. Gambling on your phone, gambling on the Internet, SMS messages from William Hill and Paddy Power that I never asked or signed up for, countless gambling adverts on TV, late night gambling on TV channels.. I wish they'd all just f#&@ off. They annoy me as much as the loan shark adverts or cold callers..

I'm down to 1176. So its all out attack.

I want a top 500 finish which will be a tough ask.

I'm very much at the ideas phase. Here are my definites...

              Suarez
              Aguero
              Sturridge
              Yaya

                Good luck Tony.

I'm going without Yaya and Sturridge as my rank is poor and I need some differentials and maybe it's time for RVP to shine.

Azpi in for free this week and then use free transfers to get my GW31 team or Cahill in for free and then take a four point hit to get my GW31 team?

I reckon Cahill will outscore Azpi by more than four points until the end of the season and i am uncomfortable just having Azpi cover. Would you be happy just having Azpi as Chelsea defence?

Discussion for those with WC still to play:

When is best to play it:
GW31 was looking obvious, but wih so many teams having DGW less gain to be made.
GW32 to offload GW31 players and set up for run in
GW34 when next mass DGW is expected
GW35 to offload the safe teams and load up on relegation and top of table / CL plcae contenders

WC holders are you playing it week 30 or 31?
There are advantages of each as I see it
I could get a slightly better team out week 30 if I play it early although it's not totally clear cut
Waiting obviously allows for any injuries or suspensions that happen week 30
For me the clincher may be Adam suspension as I was intending to play him week 30 home to west ham but without him my team starting to get a bit weak

    Wow just seen the news.

Shiped out Caz for Lallana the other day but feel alright about it. Looks like it will be Ivan --> West ham / hull defender and Adebayor --> Aguero over the next few weeks, giving me 9 DGW'ers...

I'm not sure, up until this weekend I did.

Am leaning towards the first option but atm I have no leeway on prices so may end up having to go with Zaba or Demichelis instead of Kompany

Guys how these transfers look up until the DGW 31?

    Eriksen ➡ AJ/Nolan
    Pozuelo ➡ Sterling
    Mata ➡ Yaya
    Lallana ➡ AJ/Nolan
    Adebayor ➡ Lukaku

They all look good but is it bad getting rid of Lallana?

Which transfer should I do this week. If none are an option, please leave a suggestion

    Cheers in advance

Making a transfer this week will make u short by a player this week..coz except pozuelo all will play..

So do either 1 or 2..

Ah didn't see that , without looking to much maybe just Clyne to Chambers for an extra player and cash

Or if you fancy a punt for a player who plays this week and has a double then
          Erikson to Fellaini

Just some really basic planning for my GW31 WC. It seems like the team is pretty much picking itself with only a couple of decisions to be made.

(PS if you are about to complain that I have a WC and you don't, then just take a look at my rank and TV!)

Mannone (12 fixtures in 9 GWs makes up for some not-so-good fixtures)

Everton defensive cover (good defense with good fixtures and 2 DGWs)
Kompany (12 fixtures in 9 GWs makes up for some not-so-good fixtures)
Chelsea defensive cover (essential even with no DGW?)
    Ward (bench for future DGW)
Cheap 5th or another DGW defender if you plan to go 4-3-3

1 or even 2 City mids
    Gerrard/Sterling depending on budget
Mirallas (unless it turns out he has been dropped) or Pie for the punt
fill the rest with Nolan/Sissoko/AJ or Hazard if you don't fancy those and can afford to keep him

SAS, with one of Jelly/Remy/Lukaku replacing one of Studge/Suaz if you decide against going for both for whatever reason

pretty much, I have Adrian and Mannone so will likely go Adrian for this DGW

Distin, Kompany/Zaba (depending on budget) Azpi, Ward, Chester

I will try for that defense too. Might go 4-3-3 too since I don't fancy those mids and my budget is low. I think Kompany will be worth the nailed-on-ness with that fixture pile-up

Only one of Studge/Suarez? Why? I think triple 'Pool is worth it with Gerrard/Sterling in mid

neither transfer is essential. Olsson might not play, Sterling definitely won't.

Clyne to Chambers could be a route to look into maybe.

No I was wrong. But I might look into getting Chester/Bruce for Clyne for DGW. Sounds good

Yeah sounds like the best. Would you not get rid of Pozuelo this week? Who is the key priority player to get rid of this week?

with it being 2 FT, Pozuelo is the one that most urgently needs looked at, but the option you like won't play either so its one that ideally I'd wait a week for. But you'll lose a FT by doing this. Hard call.

Most cheap defenders either don'y have a game this week, or starts are less than guaranteed in the next few weeks like Marc Wilson.

Yep. Not knowing how close you're cutting it - just be cautious about the timing of it all and the potential volatile price changes after GW29 is through 😉

I reckon Colback is a DGWer for the sake of it

Colback could have 3 games in the GW and I'd start Hazard over him every time. DGW is one thing, but I don't seem him as likely to do much.

    Bruce
    Coleman
    Mata
    Yaya
    Sterling
    Suarez
    Sturridge
    Aguero

These are the 8 DGWers I am planning for GW38 and without any hits

My other 3 players should be

    Boruc
    Terry
    Hazard
    (Subs...Davis (GK), Ward, Burner, Puncheon)

Question is....any other DGW players worth getting for a hit?

    Cheers

Depends on the formation they run out. If only Chester's dad was the manager....

This is gonna sound like an odd question but

Komps worth 0.3 over Zaba or 0.4 over Demichelis?

That extra bit of cash could be the difference between getting Gerrard or not getting Gerrard.

No. I'd take Zaba if he was priced the same as Kompany.
