Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 29

Once more, we scour the weekend’s matches and analyse the press reports for news of any fresh injuries to concern Fantasy managers as we tentatively pencil in plans for the weekend and beyond:

Arsenal
Kieran Gibbs is a doubt for the Gunners’ Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening after being subbed off with a calf complaint in the weekend FA Cup win over Everton.

Cardiff
The Bluebirds centre-half Ben Turner was forced off in the dying minutes of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Fulham due to injury, reports the club’s official website.

Chelsea
Fernando Torres was named in the starting line-up to face Tottenham on Saturday evening but was withdrawn after picking up a problem in the warm-up. Jose Mourinho revealed he could be without the Spaniard for the next fortnight:

“Torres has a muscular problem and even when they are small it is always a couple of weeks. He has to go for scans. He’s already had two problems, in both knees, both ligaments, but his recovery was faster than we expected. He also had a little muscular problem and now he’s having another one. Sometimes it happens. There are other players who have the same. Others have a complete season without problems.”

Fulham
Reports in the local press confirm Ashkan Dejagah was forced off just after the break in the 3-1 defeat at Cardiff due to injury.

Hull City
Jake Livermore was omitted from the matchday squad in yesterday’s 3-0 FA Cup win over Sunderland after picking up a thigh problem, according to local reports.

Man United
David Moyes confirmed Rafael was subbed off late on in the 3-0 win over West Brom after sustaining an ankle knock.

Newcastle
Reports in the local press indicate Loic Remy will be assessed ahead of next weekend’s trip to Fulham. Remy is hopeful of returning in time to face the Cottagers after receiving lengthy treatment on an ankle problem sustained during France’s friendly win over Holland last Wednesday evening.

Southampton
Jack Cork was subbed off in the first-half of Saturday’s win over Palace with an ankle problem. Early reports indicate he left the stadium wearing a protective boot and may be facing weeks on the sidelines.

Sunderland
Gus Poyet confirmed Jozy Altidore, Wes Brown, Valentin Roberge and Craig Gardner all missed yesterday’s FA Cup clash against Hull after picking up knocks.

Tottenham
Michael Dawson was withdrawnin the second-half of Saturday evening’s hammering at Stamford Bridge after suffering a hamstring injury. Mousa Dembele also missed the match with a similar complaint.

West Brom
Claudio Yacob, Chris Brunt and Steven Reid were all forced offin Saturday lunchtime’s home loss to United due to injury. Yacob picked up a hamstring problem, whilst the latter pair both sustained knee injuries.

How's this WC draft for gw 31? Also play Ki or Hazard? Thanks.

    Mannone - Boruc

    Baines - Distin - Chester - Azpi - Ward

    Hazard - Nolan - Sterling - Nasri - Ki

    Suarez - Kun - Sturridge

0.2 in the bank to survive this week's price changes.

I know but don't know how to fit him in. Downgrading Boruc and Baines to 3.9 and Coleman would still leave me 0.1 short and that's before this week's price changes

i'd go for a cheaper defender than Distin as my 3rd defender

shaw is 0.2 cheaper which would sort out your 0.1 deficit although i'd be inclined to go cheaper than shaw

you could even take a punt on kolarov at 5.0

Play Sterling or Noone this week?

Got a feeling Sterling will be benched but then again I don't see Cardiff getting anything at Goodison so might as well go with Raheem yeah?

Everton have a habit of ****ing up against newly promoted teams and Cardiff might have a bit of belief after beating Fulham.

Sterling should get some minutes and that game could be a goalfest. Liverpool should score 2 at least.

Yeah i get what your saying. Although if City go out of champions league this week, all they have is the League. With those double gameweeks to come I am getting my City quota in now before i get priced out.

I agree regarding United and Arsenal. Nothing there that warrants investment in my opinion.

You will be fine with that mate. I am only getting Chester because Chambers uncertainty is a headache I don't need.

I would happily play Olsson and Ivanovic in the double. No point in taking hits just for an extra game when your single gameweek players can equal or better some of the doublers.

AJ could give you 6 pts over them 3 dgw's if he even plays every game.

I think you're safer with Mannone but I can see how multiple dgw fever would make you want him. I can't justify ditching someone like Lallana for AJ myself but that's just me.

Thats true, although with Carroll back i expect something over 2 games from Nolan. He can be moved on then if needs be.

The double weeks to come is what is tempting me to go for AJ. He should be a guaranteed 4 points some of those weeks with the possibility to nick an assist/goal or 2 aswell.

Looking at some people's teams, I think too many people are placing too much emphasis on trying to get close to a full XI who have DGW.

This is at the expense of leaving guys like Hazard on the bench and playing guys like Colback.

The thing to remember is if your crap player averages 2 points per game, double game week likely to net 4 points from him. Now compare that with Hazard's average. 😉

I think Lukaku is a better option. Aguero won't play both games.

I can swap Mata and Lukaku out after the dgw if needed.

          Aguero wont play both games?????

City chasing Chelsea for title, need all wins till the end, have Negredo and Dzeko totally not in form... But they will laeve Aguero on bench and save him for world championship or what???

    Hi folks,

How do you see the best changes to the team below for GW31?
    I have 2.5m in the bank & 2 FT's.

    Mannone Marshall
    Ward Koscielny Collins Bruce Coleman
    Mata Hazard Lallana Mirallas Januzaj
    Adebayor Sturridge Suárez

The obvious move is Ade > Aguero, but need more cash, so was thinking of also doing Mirallas & Lallana > Yaya & Noone. Problem is that both those guys have good fixtures in GW30.

    I would appreciate your thoughts......

    Thoughts on

    a) Mirallas and Remy

    b) Sissoko over AJ or Nolan to go with Lukaku

also, worth going with Sissoko and Kolarov to afford Gerrard over Sterling?

I don't know. Not getting the click with Mirallas but knowing this if I say the opposite, Mirallas may just go against me and score a haul. I like Nolan or AJ with Lukaku but that may go against me. 🙁

I prefer Nolan or AJ as well,

        but Sissoko's fixtures.

Yeah, tempting. I can't provide any more deeper insight as to the two, even though have been considering them. Waiting till Friday.

There is a certain Continental midfielder for United whose stats are looking good lately, but it's the one with big hair. Did not catch the match, what did I miss this weekend?

He looked dangerous to be fair..His usual bumbling around in the box for set pieces and generally just being big.

Outpaces Mata by a fair bit for touches and shots in the box. Not sure what to make of it, but I'm intrigued.

yeah I spotted it. No doubt about it he has a goal or three in him if played right. He should have been in the hole when they played Fulham and delivered about 700 crosses in one match.

Did you think so Spike ? On another day Anichebe could have punished United, he looked as big a handful as anybody at the other end until RVP went off and Welbeck came on.

Lukaku might rise, Ade definitely dropping, that's a 0.2 swing.

    There's my first transfer then

Thinking Lallana and Terry -> Gerrard and Zabaletta (-4) next week

    Giving me:

    Boruc
    EVRA, ZABALETTA, COLEMAN
    GERRARD, SILVA, JOHNSON, Hazard
    SUAREZ, AGUERO, STURRIDGE

    Davis; Olsson, Ward, Noone

    Good call?

      Koscielny Collins Coleman (Cahill Ward)
      Hazard Januzaj Yaya Lallana (Paulinho)
      Giroud Suarez Aguero
