The ScoutCast – Episode 128 – Robotic

Is there really room for emotion and sentiment in Fantasy Football management? This week’s episode questions whether the detached, cold and almost robotic approach is the way to go. Of course, Granville and I already know the answer, leaving us to curse our sensitive sides. Ironically, this realisation comes after a weekend when, not for the first time, Aleks Kolarov almost reduced me to tears.

The pair of us manage to restore a stiff upper lip long enough to rinse through further double Gameweek debate, chew the fat over the belated Luis Suarez assist and take on another selection of posers from you, the listener. There’s “all aboard” the weekend preview and the latest in my battle with the ScoutCast XI. It’s beating me again. Without a player from the top four. Is it any wonder I’m an emotional wreck?

  I would consider playing Hazard over Chester, but really it could do either way. The -4 to Silva is probably worth it due to City's 3DGWs, but it seems like such a sideways move.

    This is true, but i don't expect much out of the CHE and ARS game, better to go with Chester with mediocre fixtures for the DGW i reckon.
    Does seem sideways, but it's Silva vs Sissoko, no brainer really, at least i hope haha.

I've been saying Silva is a good option all year but I must say i'm surprised to see people choosing him over Gerrard this week. The 2 DGW games are obviously in Liverpool's favour and then City go to the Emirates in GW32 while Pool have headless Spurs at home.

Just goes to show what a reactionary game it is, it's funny to see. If Coleman doesn't completely miss-hit a shot which loops in the corner and Zabaleta's thumping volley off the crossbar is half an inch lower then it completely changes the complexion among the "essential" defenders. Last week we even had craploads of RMTs with Sissoko because of his brace against Hull. Lukaku has a few very good efforts and is only denied by a motm performance from Marshall so he goes out of favour with people looking for alternatives in Jelavic and Carroll. Silva hits a peach from 30 yards and goes from barely any RMTs here to being in the majority and becomes as good if not better option than Gerrard in many people's eyes.

  All very true. I remember when people used to laugh at the RMT which contained Yaya, now look, a hat load of penalties, direct free kicks and a wonder strike in the cup and he is essential.

  On the flip side, having run through this analysis myself...
  
  Silva & Gerrard have an equal PPG of 5.8 - Silva doesn't take penalties either.
  
  Given that City no longer have any other competitions to distract them, and Silva has 2 additional DGWs before the season is through, it seems logical to favour Silva. I'm a mad Liverpool fan so looked for every possible reason to pick Gerrard, but Silva made more sense IMO.
  
  I've considered doing Hazard to Gerrard also, but it would cost me 4pts - so assuming they maintain their respective form(s), I'd only stand to gain about 2pts.
  
  If you have both it's a great scenario. I'm not trying to be smart or throw your comment out of the window - just contributing my reasoning, as someone who elected to pick Silva over Gerrard.
  
  As a general point - I agree with what you're saying about bandwagons though. I got sucked into the Lukaku one last week and it cost me a lot of points!

    I wildcarded last week and try as I might I couldn't fit all Yaya, Gerrard, Silva and Hazard with other players I wanted like Baines and Zabaleta. Decided to go with Gerrard, bearing in mind GW31-33 only because after that it's an easy swap of Gerrard -> Silva

    It is often fine margins as scratch mentioned, and Zaba has been unlucky not to score at least as many goals as Coleman this season. I think Solva over Gerrard makes sense though. What if Liverpool hadn't got 2 pens a United? 😀

  the peach from 30 yards point is a key one imo.
  not only was it his first goal for 18 games, but it was a wonder goal, and ironicly i view that as a negative. he never ventured into the area, would be more enticed by him if he scored a tap-in v hull, something much more repeatable than a worldie

Hey guys, i need to beat someone this week who has NOT got any of the three players i am fining it hard to choose between. Who should i drop from this midfield considering i got Suarez, Sturridge and Lukaku/Dzeko upfront?

  I would drop Silva, it was jst one match wonder... He play well in every match, but no end product whereas Gerrard, well he is playing in a team where forwards are beast, they are always in box, chances of penalty every now and then, he is superb on his FKs too

      silva because you are able to get sterling. there is no viable option in city mid at his price. extra dgws for silva n people saying you can swap over later but it will cost you money and a ft. same ppg and silva just hitting form with one comp to play for

      Mirallas' gametime has nothing to do with Pienaar.
      
      He's a terrible pick, Natt. Always seems on the verge of a massive score but never quite gets there and often gets the hook early. I've got him and I wish I'd never bothered.

  It's been very quiet in here for a couple of weeks now. Has everyone given up, lost interest or been banned? Did Aguero's injury finish off a lot of people who had already brought him in?

Sorry to pester you all, but I'm not spending enough time on site to get good responses, and I trust the Senegalese,

So,

A) Rooney and Vlaar (play Chester this week)

B) lukaku and baines (have Coleman)

I'm leaning towards A, Vlaar I think will get a good few sets of points in the last few weeks - and I'm a big blues fan, but I trust the bastards to do well from here on in.
Having Rooney makes it super easy to switch to aguero if needs be
Lukaku is on loan and I worry he might be rotated as the season draws to a close
I much prefer the proportion of money with less in defence, if there was no dgw I wouldn't consider baines and Coleman together, and no way am I selling Seamus
I trust Rooney way more than romelu

My reasons for baines and lukaku; I love baines, and Everton are my team in the top division, if I go for A I only have Coleman
I don't trust Rooney that much either, especially with rvp looking like he might dominate
Lukaku is so cheap
Can get a Chelsea defender immediately after the dgw

Please give me advice, I'm shitting it about failing at the end - last year. I dropped a few hundred places I the last couple of week

  I think I prefer B, just because long term, there's an extra two fixtures for you. But I do see the appeal of Rooney, he's massively underrated and I don't think the Everton pair as the obvious choice, but I would lean that way.

  id go b. luka unlucky last week. baines has got 5 good fixs in 3gwks so probability says hell get his biggest points here to get close to his usual top defender spot. utd not playing well. eve trying to finish as high as possible n martinez wont allow foot to be taken of the gas. and if its a 50/50 for you then you can enjoy it more with your players in who looked primed for big points
