The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 31

We turn to the Scout Picks and Differntials for inspiration as we look to get one over Paddy Power. Two of the top three midfielders in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game get our backing and we also put our faith in a born-again Fantasy talent now plying his trade on Humberside:

Our first match of interest is the KC encounter between Hull and West Brom tomorrow afternoon. Paddy are offering massive 50/1 for Nikica Jelavic to score two or more and the Tigers to keep a clean sheet – decent odds, given that very scenario occurred as recently as Gameweek 27 away to Cardiff. The Croatian has notched three times in his last five, whilst Steve Bruce’s side have kept out their opponents twice over that period and we’re willing to part company with £3 for this one.

On to the Etihad next, where Man City entertain basement-dwellers Fulham. This time around, Paddy are prepared to offer 16/5 on Yaya Toure to score and the hosts to register a clean sheet. The Ivorian has scored in three of his last five home appearances, and with Manuel Pellegrini’s side racking up three consecutive clean sheets, we’re willing to make this our bet of the week and hand Paddy £4 of our kitty.

Our final £3 goes on Liverpool’s trip to Cardiff. Paddy are offering 13/2 on Steven Gerrard to score and the Merseysiders to keep out Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s strugglers. The Reds skipper has scored four times in his last three road trips alone, and with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge wreaking havoc up top, there’s always the likelihood of another spot-kick falling his way. Liverpool have registered back-to-back shut-outs, whilst their hosts have failed to score in six of Solskjaer’s 10 games in charge.

      When will all be said?
I'll take Baines for penalties since funds are less tight at the moment, but it's a close one.

And btw - can you imagine Baines playing for Liverpool with Suarez and Sturridge diving for penalties in front of him? He might end with 250 points....

    4 questions.

    1. Is Sterling worth keeping for the foreseeable future? 5 or 6 GW's. Has tough fixtures IMO.
    2. Will Nolan outscore Sterling this week?
    3. Who is the best option for the foreseeable future out of: Kosc/Skrtel/Zaba/Kolorov? 5 or 6 GW's.
    4. With Mata/RVP being out against Bayern, which one of the following will benefit most in the DGW for MUFC as they need to get match fitness and sharpness to play in the UCL: Welbeck/Kagawa/Nani? All would be a steal at their current prices. Nani used to be mid 9's if I recall.

    Cheers big ears.

1 yes. Value for money imo.
      2 no
3 Zaba. Nailed on. Attacking. Cleanie potential.
4 welbeck. He's done reasonably well, when no RVP. Both others are disappointments.

      1) Yes. great stats for the money, 2 dgw's, and LFC score the most.
      2) depends whether Sterling starts twice. it's a toss up.
      3) Zabaleta... he'll likely play all matches, MC have 3 dgw's and a decent schedule besides
      4) do you really need to shoot at your own feet, going sniffing around United players? Have Rooney or have none of them, IMO. This forum is full of gamblers. I can't think of any more certain way to wreck your FPL hopes than to pin them on an overpriced United punt.

Thanks all for the reply. Would you play Sterling or Nolan this GW? If Sterling, no point in buying Nolan so I will get a cheapie and get Zaba. Otherwise I'll start Nolan this DGW and then downgrade him to get Zaba for the other DGWs.

I'd play both Sterling and Nolan, and bench Hazard, because I think Ars/Che will be low scoring. 2 fantastic defenses and not a Suarez or a Yaya to be found IMO.

For the long run, Rooney. I have Lukaku and have no confidence in him- will ship soon. Basically, is Hudd a better option than Sissoko? Again, longer term, yes. Skrtel and Flann are equal fot clean sheet chances. So B. Sleep tight!

Less pressure I guess, but once we get a few back from injury I'm confident we'll finish strongly. And as for Liverpool, one injury to a key assets, and their title hopes are gone, they're so lucky they aren't in Europe this season, it would have cost them hugely.

Going by my above post, everybody seems to say to keep Sterling and that Nolan will outscore this DGW. If so the case, I need to find a 5.1 defender as I can't afford Skrtrel/Kosc/Zaba.

    Team is
    Adrian
    Coleman Chester xx
    Hazard Silva Yaya Nolan
    Lukaku Rooney (c) Suarez (vc)

    Gazzaniga Sterling Azpi Baker

Options for that last defender? I have 5.1 to spend. Flanagan for the DGW then shift to a Swans (they have good fixtures and something to play for)? Kolorov? Can't think of any others at the moment.

Swansea are terrible. Avoid IMO. Truly awful.

Baker may not have a DGW, but he's got Stoke at home. If you're saving a FT by keeping him, then do so.
