The +1's on the replies could do with a colour change. Grey on grey is a bit difficult.

Ashley Cole getting a game this weekend and next week in CL. That'll be enough for Hodgson to take him to the world cup.

Is Roy Hodgson the most uninspiring England manager ever? His selections make me want to not watch England play (even more).

It's conceivable he gets a rest for CL, he's not had one for about 5 months. Ivanovic suspended next week so should play this weekend.

It's all rumour I've seen on here, but it makes sense considering it's Sunderland at home.

" Playboys of the Western World "

What's all this nonsense about Rvp selecting games persay ?
If he's fit , first and foremost he plays for Utd , he and others need to remember who pays their wages - the Club and ultimatly the fans.
Some of these guys haven't a clue - the sacrifices fans make to buy a season ticket , travel from abroad to take in a match , pay Sky Sports etc , it's a tough economy for most fans and at times players living in a fantasy bubble need to remember this,
If I had the talent some if these guys have I'd play for the average industrial wage , and I'd play through injuries - I'd play on crutches if I had to !
I'm sick of some of these over paid , over hyped , over the bloody hill players dictating the way they want to play and when they are available ,
God be with the days when players played with injuries / bandages / and their wives had babies in the company of their mothers/sisters as players had a game on Saturday at 3 o clock.

    Rant over.

This Suarez v Norwich thing is a logical fallacy. Suarez is a good shout because he plays against a weak team. Whether it's Norwich or Sunderland or Cardiff makes little difference.

This would only be true if Suarez was a Sheldon-like creature if pure logic. I suspect he's not, and sees nothing but goals when he sees those golden shirts.

Much like he sees nothing but food when he looks at a serbians arms.

Will he even start V WBA ?
Can he play 2 (not even counting Sundays 20 mins) games so close together ?

Honestly right here right now I'm (c) Suarez (and I'm chasing) , Aguero is still a differential in his own right so let's take any points as a bonus right now is my opinion.

Out of all these comments this is the one that got me the most. Im keeping the armband on Suarez.

While you may argue that Suarez' goals previously vs Norwich don't mean anything, I disagree. Its not because of the mythical concept of form or anything else, but psychologically the Norwich defence and John Ruddy must be dreading facing Suarez.
Ordinarily a player's previous goals record against a club doesn't make much difference, but the fact Suarez has scored 3 hat tricks against them in such a short space of time must play on the minds of the defenders. It'll make them more wary of him, but that might just give him the space he needs to make something happen.

Equally, in his last game vs them when he scored four everything he did seemed to come off perfectly. The 40 yard volley, the mazy dribble and flick over the defence, etc. That gives him the confidence to go for these things more often.

Norwich are fighting for their lives, so there is a chance it could be very low scoring, but if the Norwich defence is porous you would expect Suarez to deliver

Has anybody given any thought to the strategy for the next round of Fantasy UCL?

Clearly having a decent bench is almost impossible given the teams involved and relative player prices, so is it best just to focus on the starting 11 and forget the bench all together?

Yes, but there must still be ways to take gambles to climb the ranks.

For example, I may just load up completely on Chelsea and ATM defenders as I can see those games being very tight defensively.

I think I'm going to use the assumption of:

            ATM vs Chelsea = Tight/Defensive

            Real vs Bayern = Open/Attacking

.....and load up on the relevant players accordingly.

Get Morata..Nice and cheap to be benched as well as Azpi...

Forwards I have chosen from Athletico and Real
Mids from all the clubs but Bayern and Chelsea depends on their mid players (Robben, Hazard for eg.)
Defence is just a punt..goals will be conceded try getting players who may get an assist or a header..

It has been my strategy in past seasons, in fact I´m still carrying a 3.5 and a 4.0 player, giving me enough budget to have a playing sub.

It all tends to go downhill though as I try to go for leftside players.

Got any tips for leftside punts in these semis?

I guess much depends on the fitness of Ronaldo, Hazard etc...if they don't make it a couple of interesting selections could be in the mix.

Yet to play 90 mins which always puts me off, and I couldn't find space for him as a non-playing 5th mid.
Clearly has the potential to be explosive given minutes.

With just 4 GWs to go, it’s important not to be blinded by values. There’s an urge to bring in an 8.5 midfielder ahead of a 6.5, just because you can afford them. Fight that urge.
With such a small sample of games to go, there’s no longer a requirement to set your team up for the long haul. Turf out the expensive season-keepers – Coleman, Hazard and Lallana.
Concentrate on those who can hit a purple patch for you at this crucial stage of the season.
Frisking The Fixtures is a must-read, the double GW can’t be ignored, and look for players from the likes of City, Utd, Spurs, Arsenal, Stoke, Sunderland and West Brom.
Your ML positions will influence your strategy, but I need to make up 30 points on a team currently very similar to my own.
Eriksen is the most obvious example identified on this forum. He would be value at 9.0 right now and will be my (c) for GW35.
Others I am considering for the run-in are Adebayor, Nasri, Amalfitano and Chicarito. I will definitely have Arsenal and Utd players but waiting for their selection plans to become clearer.

I end up with about 8.0M in the bank every season... Might not be the case this season if RvP or Rooney are fit.

Yeah..only if he looks good tonight (if he looks really good tonight, heck I will also captain him)...Rodgers must have explained Suarez..and against Norwich I doubt he will dive or anything..

Is it too early to bring Mata in this week, with the uncertainty surrounding Rooney and RVP's return?

If it's true that Suarez will score 5 goals vs nor, then rather bring in Stevie G.

Is it a bad move to go for Zabaleta? He got 9 yellows but if he don't receive one tomorrow he can`t be banned or have i misunderstood (Gerrard logic)?

Big night in my ML Wednesday. After foolishly taking a hit to do Hazard to Lallana & benching Ivanovic, I still managed to increase my lead by 2pts, so the A v B is...

    A. Mariappa, Aguero, Lukaku (c)
    B. YYT, Dzeko, Mirallas

    Could go either way.
