FFS Paddy Power Cup IX and Members Cup IV – Eighth Round Draws

We roll out the draw for the Eighth Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, this afternoon, with the finishing line almost in sight:

In the former competition, we’re now down to the last eight competitors. One of the remaining ties see two of the top 10,000 FPL managers, Rozzop and Gribude, go head-to-head, with the former, who sits in 2,727th spot, the highest-ranked manager remaining.

Attila the Bum squares up to rank outsider xildor (sitting in 36,111th position spot) in fine form, with the former serving up 95 points in the previous Gameweek.

The other two ties see manehi and Woeisme and caio89 and 1nozza battle it out for a place in the final four, with the latter’s 74 point-haul in Gameweek 35 the lowest tally of any of our last eight.

A full list of last week’s results is here, and the draw for the Eighth Round, which kicks off this Saturday lunchtime at St Mary’s and lasts right through to Monday evening, when Arsenal welcome out-of-sorts Newcastle to the Emirates, can be found here.

In the FFS Members Cup IV, we’re now down to the last four managers. Spencer – the highest ranked remaining manager in 554th spot overall – takes on Sandgrounder, who was late week’s top-scoring manager with 80 points, for a place in the final. The other semi-final sees old-school poster Shipsontrev take on Trigg – despite the difference in their ranks (689 v 99,744) this looks a close one, given that the pair progressed with 75 points and 74 points respectively last weekend.

    How many DGWers are people planning to have for the last DGW in this season?

    I've just realized I already have 8 and will most likely bring another one in just before 😯
    Though on the other hand, I think I will bench Chester and play with 8 DGWers along with Cahill, Eriksen and Suarez.

          Hmm, probably not actually. I love a DGW so start getting players in several weeks in advance. My Man Utd DGWers are Fellaini, Mata and Evra though (got them before the Moyes sacking) so it'll probably go very badly.

          There really aren't. Of the 9 I currently have, Fellaini, Mulumbu, Borini, Bardsley and Kolarov are all included. It's probably a DGW where you don't want more than 5 - 6

      6 probably. Not excited about most DGW teams/players. Definitely not a DGW worth taking a hit to bring in 5 players from weak teams with difficult fixtures.

    Trying to figure out my Cech replacement, can anyone talk me out of De Gea?

    Mannone is another option but from looking at his history against bottom half teams:

    Stoke (1-0) - 11pts, 6 saves, 3bp
    Norwich (0-0) - 10pts, 5 saves, 3bp
    Palace (0-0) - 10pts, 5 saves, 3bp
    Villa (0-1) - 3pts, 3 saves, 0 bp
    Hull (0-2) - 3pts, 7 saves, 0 bp
    West Ham (1-2) - 2pts, 4 saves, 0 bp

    So his big scores have all come from obtaining 3bp in low scoring games. I can't see the four remaining games being low scoring due to the importance and opposition so don't see him picking up the huge scores.

    Any chance of Lindegaard getting a start?
