Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 36

The weekend’s nine fixtures seemed to have made a minimal impact on the treatment rooms up and down the country. With this in mind, we roll out an injury and suspension all-in-one update ahead of tonight’s Emirates clash between Arsenal and Newcastle:

Injuries

Aston Villa
Leandro Bacuna was withdrawn at half-time in the weekend loss at Swansea due to illness, Paul Lambert has confirmed.

Everton
Roberto Martinez confirmed Leighton Baines was subbed off towards the end of Saturday’s loss at Southampton:

“We will assess Leighton Baines and see if it’s a serious injury or not. He was feeling his knee and his calf a little bit, we will assess him but it shouldn’t be too bad”.

Fulham
Steve Sidwell was forced off with a knock during Saturday’s draw with Hull, according to the club’s official website.

Newcastle
Luuk de Jong has been ruled out of this evening’s trip to the Emirates with an ankle problem picked up during last week’s loss to Swansea.

Swansea
Angel Rangel was subbed off during the weekend win over Villa after picking up an injury late in the second-half.

West Brom
The Baggies right-back Steven Reid lasted less than 45 minutes of the weekend win over West Ham before limping off due to injury.

West Ham
James Tomkins was forced off just after the half-hour mark of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the Hawthorns through injury.

Suspensions

Chelsea’s Ramires was handed a four-match ban last week after accepting the FA’s charge of violent conduct for an off-the-ball incident during the Gameweek 35 home loss to Sunderland. The Brazilian was sidelined for yesterday’s trip to Anfield and will also miss the upcoming games against Norwich and Cardiff, in addition to the opening fixture of the 2014/15 campaign.

Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross is set to serve a one-match ban this weekend after he was dismissed against Spurs at the weekend. The Potters skipper, who received two yellow cards in the 1-0 loss, misses a home clash against Fulham, with Marc Muniesa likely to partner Marc Wilson at the heart of defence, allowing Erik Pieters to return to the starting XI at left-back.

Cardiff centre-half Juan Cala will sit out this weekend’s trip to Newcastle after being dismissed for denying a goalscoring opportunity during yesterday’s 4-0 loss at Sunderland. The Spaniard returns in time for the Gameweek 38 clash with Chelsea as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to stave off the threat of relegation.

Jordan Henderson serves the last of a three-match ban this weekend as Liverpool look to bounce back from Sunday’s loss to Chelsea with a tricky trip to Selhurst Park.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Who is your other keeper? I'd say DDG will outscore Howard by over 4 during the DGW, but Howard will pull it back under 4 points during the last week.....

I don't think I'd take the hit then. DDG will probably outscore Howard during the double, but I think Howard is the better bet for GW 38.

I would definitely do A given Man City's fixtures. I would go for Demi on the the basis of BAPS/Goals.
I would bench Eriksen personally given Sunderland have an extra game and W Ham away is definitely not easy.

Def: I would think about doing Coleman -> Jones. (Or Terry if he is still injured). It might be worth getting rid of both and getting in someone like Alonso as well.

MF: It's actually really good but I would be concerned about no Man City. However, the only one I would consider getting rid of would be Eriksen. If not then may be you could get Demi to accompany Zaba at the back.

        Fwd: Great

Thanks, its almost like reading my assessment of the team. Selling JT is preferable to get in Jones, but then im 0.3 short in getting Nasri for Eriksen so Coleman may have to go. Doubling on City def instead is also an option in a chase for the ML leader who has no City def cover, and then i dont have to take a hit.

Which player/s have been the most enjoyable to own for you this season?

For me it has been Eriksen. I think I've had him three times, and he's gone on a run of form as soon as I've got him all three times, and when I've got him out he's abruptly stopped grabbing points. I've just got him out again, so third time could be unlucky.

Another recently has been Bony. Got him in a few weeks ago and has really delivered.

Yaya Toure probably. Every time someone says 'surely he can't maintain this form' he goes and scores. Penalties minutes after Ageuro leave the pitch and the odd assist here and there to offer a lifts as well. He has everything and his first double was just sensational. A great player to own.

I've been burned by Toure so many times, both by not having him and when I finally got him in he got injured.

As strange as it sounds, it must have taken some balls to own Toure all this time. Because a lot of his points have been lucky, especially the penalties. But he's managed to be consistently lucky. I'd have probably caved in and got rid on a wildcard because "surely it can't last"

I dip in and out. Had him for a while early on. Dropped him, back in again for his sensational 31 pt dgwk haul, out for his injury...maybe back again. I've missed some points but overall he's been just a real treat to own this season.

I've dipped in and out, yet precisely at the wrong times most of the season. It has been quite amazing. I kept going back to Silva, because he's looked good without scoring a lot, while Yaya has been lucky, so surely Yaya's form would stop and Silva was due...

Yaya, Ramsey & Gerrard - and the non-owners kept claiming that their form couldn't possibly continue!

Mannone - not just a cheap home rotation option.

Coleman - an ever-present in my squad from GW2.

Captain fantastic Luis Suarez - getting him in GW10 led to a rise from 116k to 35k in the next 4 game-weeks - wish I'd got him in GW6!

Sturridge's great run from GW24-26 (shame I didn't bring him in 3 GWs earlier on my January WildCard)

Most enjoyable players I have had this season are:
Joel Ward (excellent value for points)
Leighton Baines (for his excellent late season spell)
Per Mertesacker (for his steady points accumulation as a mainstay in my team)
Yaya Toure (when I bit the bullet and got him in)
Theo Walcott (for his explosive scores)
Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge (Double-up of the Liverpool strikers which proved to be the best decision I've made all season)

The Nasri move is the questionable one but, without it, I'm having to scrape around the lottery of Man U defenders. In that case i'm incline to just go without Mata and do Gerrard > Yaya
