FFS Cup

The Fantasy Football Scout Cups Round-Up

Congratulations go to Gribude , who is the latest winner of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup after defeating Woeisme by the narrowest of margins in the final Gameweek of the season. Both Fantasy managers fielded eight identical players – David De Gea, Laurent Koscielny, Scott Dann, Juan Mata, Christian Eriksen, Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero – and with the Uruguayan also handed the armband by each of our finalists, it went right down to the wire:

Ultimately, then, it came down to just three players to make the difference. Gribude opted for City pair Pablo Zabaleta and Samir Nasri along with Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, whilst Woeisme plumped for Etihad pair Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure, in addition to Hull’s Tom Huddlestone. That trio helped Gribude to a 57-56 triumph and elevated him to 1,529 overall, whilst his opponent finished on a respectable rank around the 22k-mark.

As mentioned in our initial entry article, Gribude – who succeeds Tdubb05 as the new champion – now receives £100 worth of bets and a £100 Amazon voucher as the winner of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup. Woeisme, as runner-up, is awarded £50 worth of free bets and a £50 Amazon voucher.

In the third v fourth place play-off, 1nozza eased past xildor by 54 points to 40, after the latter opted for an eight-point hit in the final round of fixtures. 1nozza will now receive £50 worth of free bets and a £25 Amazon Voucher.

Also a reminder that Trigg, is the new FFS Members Cup champion after seeing off the challenge of Sandgrounder by 69 point to 61 points in Gameweek 37. Trigg replaces Acquafresca as the new champion and will be determined to make a staunch defence when the competition returns in the new season.

The Managerial Merry Go Round.......this is likely to have a significant impact on FPL selections as with any changes at the top it can have an effect on the players selected but also the style of play as we all found with players snapped up from Manchester Utd during the last season!

Man Utd - if LVG is appointed
    - He is likely to rebuild around RVP, so Robin wont find others in his space & with pens and free kicks surely this would make him essential?
    - Defensive rebuild apparent but LVG does like an attacking FB

    Spurs - Sherwood sacking
A lot of decent players but would expect further ins & outs. Regardless it must raise questions on the acquisition of any players at the start of FPL as much will depend on who is appointed but could Soldado & Lamela quickly assert themselves, where will Eriksen slot in and will the new guy motivate an Adebayor

West Ham - Sam on the brink
We have all enjoyed Demel and the rewards he brings as Sam has opted to play 6-4-0 or 4-6-0 at times thus rewarded owners of defenders decent returns with clean sheets albeit boring the pants off the "happy hammers" fans. Its looking as though his time is up even if allowed pre-season he will be first sacked after few poor results.

Losing his experience and defensive style of play may have detrimental consequence on clean sheet points as the board will be looking to appease fans with an appointment that brings a more attacking style, which may bring Andy Carrol onto the radar?

WBA - Mel out and much of squad out of contract
Club in need of major surgery & will have to weigh up the appointments and squad after the surgery.

Aston Villa - up for sale
Who will be in charge? Will the owner invest over the summer whilst looking for a buyer? Surely no players worthy of serious consideration (Benteke may need time after lengthy injury) unless the Club is sold?

Newcastle - Is Pardew staying, is the Club up for sale?
If the Club were going to sack him, they had the opportunity after he lost his head and found it planted into a Hull City player.

Lack of investment and asset stripping has been clear and with fan unrest this is another club in need of change, and will have to monitor before deciding if FPL investment is worthy.

    One other thing to consider....

    Liverpool in Europe
BR never had to rotate this season and selected from a small core of players with Stevie G and Suarez playing 90mins nearly all matches - this wont happen next year!

Whilst they will start many of the games, whilst in the group stages of CL, BR will be forced to save his top players to keep them fresh enough to compete in both competitions this will hamper FPL points especially if Suarez price increases to £14m and rotation will be more frequent for the likes of Sterling and co.

A crazy season ends leaving many question marks to consider?

Very interesting - could be an article I think.

Man U - Yes a fit RVP could be very profitable. Will have to monitor Mata and Rooney's roles preseason as well.

West Ham - A new manager would probably spell the end of my fantasy interest and as Andy Carroll is better suited to long ball football he would probably be out the door with a new man wanting to play the tippy tappy football the fans want.

Newcastle, Villa and especially West Brom all look like clubs that can safely be avoided at the start of the season.

Liverpool - I doubt Suarez will be rotated, he doesn't seem to need it. Stevie G probably will be though.

        Cheers

Sturridge was often subbed in games this season whilst Suarez stayed on and it was evident that he seemed to slow in the last 10 games, less goals, less shots etc may have been form but it may have been touch of fatigue.

I would think / expect if Liverpool are 2 up after 70 mins and a CL game midweek - he will get subbed.

Maybe but as you say the more injury prone players like Sturridge and Gerrard will need taking off as well.

I would expect Suarez to score heavily next season, but how much will he cost? 14m? 14.5? Possibly even 15m. Will he be value for money? I guess a lot depends on Liverpool's first 5/6 fixtures as well before the CL kicks in - if they are easy it will be a risk to go without him.

To Suarez or not to Suarez will be the key question for the next 3 months.

Thanks for that! One thing to note is that Suarez will almost certainly not be rotated unless he is carrying an injury. Comments in the past from him and BR suggest that he is at his best when playing games in quick succession.

Surprising that both teams have only used one substitution. You'd expect them to make some changes.

Seville really needs Gameiro on. They need someone fast who can run behind the opposition defence for counter attacks, which is just Gameiro, who also knows where the goal is, something you can't say about the dudes currently on pitch.

Not sure what Benfica should do. Perhaps also a striker change, Cardozo in.

Maybe. Not sure if Benfica needs a runner. Someone to finish those passes they put in the box.

Sevilla really need someone like Gameiro. A technical runner. Bacca is doing nothing. Except slowing the game down and wasting time.

Forgive me if this has been asked 100 times. Can't see it on the hot topics and there isn't a search function on this forum anymore.

Found a Fantasy World Cup game open - Excel Fantasy Football:

    http://www.excelfantasyfootball.com/team.aspx

Pick 11 players, no subs, each player has a value, maximum 4 from one country, similar (not the same) scoring as FPL, a bit clunky but it's the first one I've seen so signed straight up (sign up was a bit weird too).

Has anyone made a FFS league for this game?

After a bit more searching, this website seems to be offering exactly the same thing:

Must be a white label game. Not sure whether it's two separate leaderboards or one umbrella-type leaderboard.

Is a league something that an admin on here would want to make? Can go ahead and do it if that's ok. I'd imagine FFS isn't endorsing either of these games anyway.

"Would I do anything different? Probably not because I want to be true to myself. Perversely, I liked doing it [the job]. For anyone to want to do that job must be crazy. I was waking up in the middle of the night thinking about who to pick. But I can't wait to get back in it."

True. I dreamt of captaining Eriksen for the final GW on the Thursday night.
Then Friday night was the Mata, Ramsey situation.

My World Cup draft (subject to pricing):

    Begovic (5.0) Karnezis (4.5)
    Maniatis* (4.5) Schar (5.0) COL (5.0) CRO (4.5) RUS (5.0)
    Hazard (10.0) RUS** (7.0) Schweinsteiger (8.5) Fortounis* (5.0) ??? (4.5)
    Messi (12.5) Neymar (11.0) Dzeko (8.0)

    *Possible OOP role
**Whoever is nearest to the 7.0 mark between Dzagoev and Shirokov

Could be really tough to get the obvious choices in AND a half decent squad elsewhere depending on the prices 😕

Anyone have players on their watchlist?

He may do but Belgians seem esential for the group stages. Best group after Argentina imo. I suppose I could go with Lukaku over him if the price justifies him over Hazard. Eden likely to be on all set pieces?

Beware the belgians. Yes they have a good team on paper but they're young and very inexperienced. I'm not sure any of the players or the manager have even been to an international tournament before. They'll be a long way from home and their players have played a lot of games this season.

Have you seen the chat about recovered balls? If the rules stay as they're currently worded, several good centre-backs will each comfortably outscore Messi or any other striker. (See Hot Topics).

Apart from that, I've had Dzagoev in my sights since the Euros but how is his form? I've heard nothing about him since 2012

Sure he was a nice guy but if it was Chelsea surely you'd want a bit more than a nice guy too? Apparently he had the computer analyst taking training sessions and the results were not good. A shocking appointment but it's Peace that really needs to go. If we get Mackay as rumoured it'll be another manager that's not going to keep the job 2 months.
