Sky Sports Fantasy Football 2014/15 Is Now Live

As some of you may already know, the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game for 2014/15 opened its doors earlier today. With a lull in the World Cup action, Fantasy managers are afforded our first chance to dabble in domestic issues as we tentatively cobble together our initial teams for the season ahead:

The Sky Sports game is one that we’ve covered in the past, with our Members area including the relevant bonus point recipients across the positions.

After winning the Best League for each of the last couple of campaigns, we’re looking forward to defending our title once again. The winner of last season’s Scout League picked up £1,000 for their achievements and we’re hoping to offer prizes for whoever finishes at the summit once again.

We’ll be re-starting our official league soon and will be rolling out a series of articles over the next couple of weeks, looking at the Player List and analysing the best tactical approaches. Regular contributor d1sable will be on board once again to give his hints and tips every Friday afternoon – having finished inside the top 10 last year, he’s clearly a man worth listening to.

      Regarding the main game, your team would be in 4th place in the list of overall prize winners (£1000) 3rd in the Fantasy Football Club league (£1000) and the overall chairman prize (£1000), subject to checks been made into your account. Sky Bet customer services will be checking into your account and once they are satisfied that your account is valid, they will be in contact with you to confirm your details. Unfortunately I cannot confirm that you are an official winner until they have made their checks I'm afraid, I wouldn't want to advise that you are a definite winner and then there to be an issue found with your account. Heard the news about Navas, Fernandez and Gago but I think they'll all start? Also anyone else tempted to not have J Rod and Neymar this round? J rod is bound to slow down eventually (5 goals in 4) and Neymar won't be 100%.

I don't understand all the Sky game hate, it is PERFECT for all of us who put so much effort and time into our fantasy teams.

The game does not favour the lucky at all, it favours those who plan and research properly.

I have come 35th and 50th the last two seasons, and can vouch that if you take it seriously you can do well. I believe D1sable finished in the top 50 the year before his top 10 finish, so again more proof that if you are on here (and use the member stats) you have a great chance in this game.

  im sorry but plenty of us plan and research pre season, then it all goes tits up the first couple of weeks and it really sets you back........... no matter how good an anaylyst you think you are, if you nail the perfect 11 gw1 there is a huge element of luck............
  obviously what you do after that isnt, but havin limited transfers on a team that needs radical overhauling is unfortunate

        I've made disastrous starts to both my sky game seasons and Fpl seasons(back when i played over 3 years ago)
        
        Never been able to recover in sky, totally the opposite in fpl.
        
        Maybe i need to be little more patient and see how it goes but that is just my take on the game.

  It may involve less luck, but the 30 transfers rule pretty much sums up how boring it can get. The other drawback is of course the fact that you need to get the initial squad more or less spot on to have a decent season.

      It's definitely not a game that a 'casual' can win, that's for sure. Half the battle is a battle of endurance, you need to be around each and every day of football to stand a chance. Go shopping on the weekend with the missus and you've had it 😉

    It is the second best game behind FPL with a different tactical way of playing and so is fun imo, to top that off you have a higher chance of doing well with planning and playing less players and you also competing for £100,000 worth of prizes compared to FPL where you get a new briefcase or something.

  Never played it as I struggle to find the time to play multiple games and FPL is my primary option. May supplement that with UFPL this year but that definitely means no Sky game, appealing as it sounds.

  I love the limit aspect of it, it's the best part, if it was just like the main game then what would be the point? i've played other fantasy sports games with similar limits & they're just as fun, you just have to be very selective & plan your transfers really well, you also need patience with your initial selections, just because some players start poorly it doesnt mean they wont pick up form later on & vice versa.

After 4 rounds in McD ,do you go in with particular formation in mind & invest heavily like if you chose 4-3-3 than Def/Striker require more investment
OR you go in with flexible team trying to cover all areas ,that is have cheapies as backup in very dept

To rephrase it what is most preferred formation and how many playing/punts/junks are yo taking in round 5

  Flexible in midfield/defence by narrowing my striker choices to 3. I expect to end up 5-3-2 or 4-4-2

    I'm going 5/4/1 with option to go 5/3/2 or 4/4/2 if my first striker (mueller) has a big point game
    Means I only have mueller and Robben up front with more to spend on mid and def
    So yes, I invest heavily in mid and defence with 2 solid day 2 subs at each position
    Blind/Vertonghen and Tejeda/Gago
    Although pondering replacing Tejada/Gago with Mascherano plus a 1 pointer

I keep getting random words appearing in blue that try and link me to things and I am unable to log into Sky fantasy, I just keep getting an error box. Anyone know what might be causing it and how the feck i can stop it?

Keep Kroos (M) + Esseid BELKALEM (DEF -1M - just to take a spot)

or Switch them with

Cuadrado (MID) + Santiago ARIAS (DEF)

    I'd go Valbueana(c) over Lahm - Lahm is a solid option but first game I'd want someone who could probably won't) get a haul...can't see Lahm getting more than 10/12 points.
