Champions League 2014/15 – FantasyiTeam Matchday 2 Picks

As we mentioned previously, we’re joining forces with Fantasy iTeam (FiT) for this season’s Champions League campaign. Having supported their popular World Cup game, we’ve teaming up once again to cover Europe’s elite club competition, with Matchday 2 only hours away.

A free Fantasy football app, FiT is available on a number of mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android. It’s free to download and play, so you can already go in and start drafting up your starting XI, with unlimited transfers right up until 10 minutes before this evening’s kick-off – please note that the first fixture of Matchday 2, between CSKA Moscow and Bayern Munich, gets underway at 5pm GMT.

We’re supporting FiT throughout the competition and have an official Fantasy Football Scout League, with an iPad mini available to the winner. There’s also a VIP European Match Day Experience for two on offer for the overall winner of the Fantasy iTeam Champions League game.

Having rolled out a Rule Guide and taken a look at some of the best budget options in the player price list, we now get to grips with the upcoming schedule and offer four player tips for both Tuesday and Wednesday’s matches.

Tuesday

Priced at just 7.2, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson looks an in-form option as Ajax make their way to APOEL Nicosia this evening. The Dutch side have already picking up a point in their group opener at home to PSG and will be hoping their Icelandic centre-forward can replicate the form that saw him fire a weekend hat-trick in a 5-2 rout at NAC Breda.

Schalke’s Eric Choupo-Moting is another reasonably priced option for tonight’s matches. Coming in at 8.4, the Cameroon international has grabbed three goals and a pair of assists in six league appearances so far and is likely to play a part in the final third as his side play host to minnows Maribor.

Despite netting a hat-trick in Porto’s 6-0 rout of BATE Borisov, Yacine Brahimi sets you back a mere 5.7 for Match Day 2. The Algerian has now served up four goals and three assists in seven appearances across all competitions this term and looks in the mood as his side travel to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Bayern’s Mario Gotze is also on our radar for a trip to CSKA Moscow. The home side face a tough task of recovering from a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Roma last time out and with four goals in five league starts, Gotze – who also supplied the assist for Jerome Boateng’s winner against City in Matchday 1 – seems excellent value at just 7.3.

Wednesday

Ibrahim Afellay remains very kindly priced as Olympiacos head to Swedish club Malmo tomorrow evening. The on-loan Dutchman was instrumental in a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid last time around, grabbing a goal and assist, and at just 5.7, he looks an excellent midfield option against the Group A underdogs.

Zenit’s Salomond Rondon is another man in form ahead of a home clash with Monaco. The Venezuelan has scored seven times in as many starts this season and, priced at 8.3, looks the man most likely to fire his side to a second successive group stage victory.

Kevin Grosskreutz is a very budget-friendly midfield option for Dortmund’s trip to Anderlecht. Coming in at just 5.9, the left winger supplied both assists in the 2-0 win over Arsenal in Matchday 1 and his creativity is likely to be instrumental again as Jurgen Klopp’s side look for another win.

While Real Madrid’s trip to Ludogorets will be heavily targeted by Fantasy managers, we’re turning to the other match in Group B for our final selection. Veteran Marco Streller has notched five times in eight appearances for FC Basel this season and his eye for goal could well take advantage of Liverpool’s porous defence in Switzerland tomorrow evening.

Fantasy Football Scout League

We’ve already set up an official Fantasy Football Scout league for you to join, with an iPad mini on offer to the winner – the league name is Fantasy Football Scout and the pin is 11155.

    Ranked 574 overall.

    Team:

    Beg
    Baines - Bertrand - Dier
Di Maria - Sig - Tadic - Fab - Sterling
    Welbeck - Costa

    Bench: Myhill, Wisdom, Vlaar, Bojan.

I have 2FT. I used one for Tadic, switched Ramsey out. Any suggestions for the remaining 1FT? I have 1.9 in the bank. Shall I add strength to the bench?

I liked that. Not in the social network 'like'. But just liked. I guess I should say 'I enjoyed that' but hat sounds too much like happiness, which, sadly I am not experiencing. I'll leave at liked, but not the thumbs up variety.

Hearts are a bunch of twats who spent more than they could afford to buy players they couldnt afford and were run by a twat. At least Hibs worked within their financial constraints. How much longer will Hearts last if they dont get promoted

I could ask you the same question about Hibs but I'm only concerned about my own club.

I actually want to see Hearts and Hibs get promoted this season.

Since we now operate within our budget and no longer have any debt I think we'll be fine. Hibs did stick to their strict financial plan but still managed to sign a procession of shite managers who saw them relegated playing some truly horrendous football.

Funny thing is Hibs are still paying Butchers wages and he seems quite happy with that set up.

the point being that if they spent money they never had like Hearts and Rangers the likelihood would have been better managers, better players and more success. Both Hearts and Rangers are now paying the price for having bought the little success they had. Hibs lost a couple of decent managers because they wouldnt spend beyond their remit. Simple

all your assets have gone, if you dont get promotion this year you are deep in it again, yes your support will help you through but how long would they be happy going to watch Championship games for.. Rangers are the exact same, already running up big debts as a newco. Hibs can take the hit if they dont go up by I couldnt say the same for you two. Scottish football needs all three in the SPFL but at least 1 wont make it this year.

Hibs can't even sell out half of Easter Road, they're even resorting to giving away free tickets which even your own fans don't want, whereas Hearts are averaging approx 15k and riding high at the top of the league.

Sounds like we're struggling right enough.......

    Last GW team:
    Krul Elliot
    Bertrand Wisdom Coloccini Hutton Chester
    Siggy Ramsey Fabregas Sterling Albrighton
    Pelle Costa Falcao

Already took a -8 to get in Fabianski, Baines and Tadic for Krul, Chester and Ramsey.

    Should I wildcard and do:
    Aguero in for Falcao
    Duff in for Coloccini
    Heaton/Mannone in for Elliot

-8 is pushing it. Only wildcard if you feel like you have to make one of the transfers, otherwise smaller hits along the road will sort that out.

Did the -8 thinking that surely Fabianski, Baines and Tadic can score 8 more points that Ramsey, Krul and Chester considering Ramsey and Chester will not even start. Wisdom will also not play next week and Hutton has Man City. So was already at a disadvantage in defense. A Swansea CS would help in containing the other hit as I dont see Krul keeping a CS.

    ADVICE - Use WC?

    Currently (Last GW):
    Mannone - Begovic
Lovren - Clyne - Wisdom (Caulker - Davies)
Siggy - Sterling - Di Maria - Hazard (Wanyama)
    Costa - Ulloa - Rooney

I want Aguero in and Rooney out - Good thoughts?
Put Hazard out to free up money for Aguero

Lovren out (not that many points that i excepted)?

And when/if im on my WC maybe some other changes?
    Plz help out!

    (1FT and 0.1M itb)

I wouldn't WC with that, I'd ditch hazard for someone cheaper and use the cash to upgrade rooney to aguero for a -4

I've worked really hard the last 2 weeks to save up my 2FT's and now I cant really think of anything, can someone say something to stop me making a stupid rash decision?

    Heaton
    Naylor Baines Bertrand
    Di Maria Fabregas Siggy Sterling
    Costa Pelle Ulloa

    Forster Duff Moreno Chadli

    Thanks!

You could punt on a 1 week player.

Swap Forster for Foster, so it frees up a move for Mane, Tadic, Schneiderlin instead of Siggy if he continues to blank.

      It's tough to suggest much.

Got rid of Naismith last night for -4 to avoid the price drop to ensure I had 1.3 ITB to do Shawcross -> Baines next week.

    Baines rose.

I now either need Shawcross to double-rise next week, or for Baines to (inexplicably) drop..

Last night I did Cahill, Ramsey, Rooney to Jagielka, Di Maria, Aguero for -4 to leave me with:

    Krul

    Clyne Jagielka Naylor

    Sterling Di Maria Fabregas Siggy

    Costa Aguero Pelle

Didn't really want to get rid of my chelsea defender but i needed to raise cash somehow.. Stupid moves?

And yes I know Aguero hasn't played in the CL tonight, but I wouldn't have been able to afford it if i waited till today, with Ramsey falling and Di Maria rising
