The Numbers Game – 2014/15 Review – West Ham

Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

    RMT please:

    Butland - Vorm
    Mert - Cedric - Huth - Francis - O'shea
    Haz - Ozil - Sinclair - Mané - Ritchie
    Benteke - Pellè - Lukaku

    ...after GW1: Lukaku --> Deeney

which leaves enough cash to upgrade to Sanchez and Aguero in upcoming weeks
Vorm won't last more than a few months, but I'll use him until I can nail on a 2nd budget keeper

I'm not sure if any of you guys caught Wengers comments yesterday on Walcott, but he sounded like Walcort will play striker vs 'teams you can get in behind' I.e weaker teams, but not against 'teams like Chelsea'.

Confusing. Why did he start vs Chelsea then? I think he basically means teams with slow CB's ie Chelsea.

He seemed to say imply that it didn't really work out as expected as he couldn't get in behind them.

Here's the question, both options cost the same...

    A) Hazard, Benteke, Ibe

    B) Fabregas, Cabaye, Kane

B all day, but reckon Cabaye will do bad due to fixtures, maybe Oxlade for 6.0. Really think he's gonna do big things

Good morning guys {and girls}. I would appreciate if you could help me out. Thank you

    Stekelenberg (Guzan)

    Azpi Merte Huth (O'Shea Richards)

    Fabregas Özil Payet Chadli (Sidwell)

    Costa Rooney Sakho

1.0 in the bank. I would like 0.5 more so I can replace Payet with Walcott, ideally looking for 4.0 starting defender, but also am curious as to which villa defenders are nailed on.

Hello all could someone help rate these 2 teams please, both 442 do you think they're good enough? Is 442 a wise formation?

    Courtois
    Bellerin Shaw Clyne Mings/Bassong
    Yaya Hazard Ozil Hendo
    Rooney Benteke

    Schwarzer Sinclair Bojan

    Courtois
    Bellerin Shaw Cedric Mings/Bassong
    Sanchez Fab Hendo Sinclair/Wanyama
    Rooney Aguero

    Schwarzer Bojan

I'll be rotating Mings Bassong in both and rotating Sinclair Wanyama in the second

2nd team wins by far, but Agüero and Sanchez won't be playing for a few games

    Thoughts??

    Goalkeeper: Schmeichel
    Defenders: Clyne, Azpilicueta, Cedric
mids: Ozil, sterling , Hendo, Hazard, Wijmaldum
    forwards: Rooney, Lukaku

    Subs: Butland, Huth, Targett, Hooper

Good team all in all. Think there's better options at 7.0 or less than Wijmaldum, like Chadli, Oxlade, Ritchie... Hooper doesn't even play any time anymore, if you want a cheap striker there's Defoe, Deeney and Wilson. I'd prefer Pelle to Lukaku as he looks on great form, can score every game (if on form) and will be less pressured as there are more goalscorers in Southampton than ever.

I don't see the appeal of Butland! Stoke kept 9 CS last season, and in the summer they've only strengthened attack. Mark Hughes has transformed them into an attacking team, they won't sit back or keep many CS. Better 4.5 options like Myhill, Guzan and if you got 0.5 there's Stekelenberg! SOUTHAMPTON KEEPER! 5.0! Hope this was helpful
