The Community Round Up

With the fixture ticker shifting in favour of Everton, Southampton and Manchester United, there was plenty of advice in our community articles and hot topics about the best options to draft in. We also take a look back in the mists of time to see Fantasy Football Scout’s first ever conversation. Back in the present day, we feature some of the most eye-catching recent stats in our latest Members tables and catch up on some of those benefiting from both form and fixtures at the summit of our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Rakkhi has used this weekend’s fixture shift to take an in-depth look at the next few Gameweeks to assess whether fixture-proof is a myth and analyse just how good the immediate schedule for the likes of Everton really is.

Meanwhile, Daily Fantasy Football PI looks at three teams with strong fixtures from this weekend onwards, while Iafarrell’s latest article looks at the best captaincy candidates for this weekend and beyond.

Rodellegabomb has a trio of bandwagons to cast your eyes over and Your Mum’s Athletic has popped down the bookies to get inspiration for his regular predictions on the Gameweek ahead.

If you are a form over fixtures brand of Fantasy manager, there will be a lot to like in The Sarjeant’s latest article on the teams that are excelling regardless of opposition so far.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Despite a kind run of matches for Manchester United on the horizon, Fantasy managers are queuing up to ditch Anthony Martial, who hasn’t scored since Gameweek 6. Already more than 70,000 Fantasy Premier League managers have drafted him out, with Spurs man Harry Kane the new centre of attention for many, according to Hooperman’s discussion on strikers. The England international was also one of a trio of key striker options we focused on in this hot topic on the best forward to draft in this week.

There was further chat about frontmen in Gruffyboy’s discussion on the best three striker options over the next few Gameweeeks. Heels over Head was also in fine voice on the issue of centre forwards, with this musical ode to football’s most notable goal scorers.

Jamie Vardy continues to attract interest after scoring in the seventh consecutive Premier League match in Gameweek 10. Davies asked will Leicester’s unstoppable force finally meet his match when he encounters the immovable object that is a well-drilled Tony Pulis defence at the Hawthorns this weekend?

Leicester’s other star this season has been Riyad Mahrez, who has five goals and as many assists to his name already. But, wondered Jaffilicious, with so many good options in attack and midfield is the 6.5m player now effectively a fifth midfielder that can be safely benched during tough matches?

Also falling down the pecking order shortly is West Brom’s defence, which after Leicester this weekend faces Manchester United and Arsenal. Could it be time to bail on the Baggies, asked Demi.

The fate of Boaz Myhill in the community’s sides is also now under threat due to West Brom’s turn for the worst in the fixture list, according to Dino’s look at the fate of rotation.

We also ask whether form trumps fixtures as the key guide for our forthcoming transfer moves. Elsewhere, Zasa was on hand this week to offer some advice on the best times to consider using our wildcards before it runs out at the end of 2015.

Jarvish has been looking even further ahead in the fixture list now that the quarter final draw has been made in the Capital One Cup. He offered a reminder that the finalists in this competition are set for a blank fixture and double Gameweek in the second half of the season, with Manchester City and Everton amongst the favourites to reach Wembley.

The community has also been looking back on the season so far, with Ryan starting a discussion on the most underrated and overrated Fantasy Premier League players so far this season. Looking further back, Kings of Lyon has unearthed what may well be Fantasy Football Scout’s first ever discussion and first ever Rate My Team.

In the more immediate past our Rough with the Smooth takes a look back at the best and worst transfer and captaincy decisions by the community in Gameweek 10 with one of our own writers proving amongst the smoothest operators when it comes to armband decisions.

Due to a technical issue with this week’s live Scoutcast the first ten minutes have been lost in the ether. Despite this setback, the remaining 50 minutes plus our run down of what you were missing out on during those first few minutes can be found here.

The Members Tables

For those hoping Manchester United can take advantage of their kind fixture run, I’ve created this look at their most attacking players. This has a global filter and is sorted by shots in the box.

Meanwhile, Jaffalicious has found some surprising names at the top of his latest table looking at the Premier League’s most attacking defenders over the last four Gameweeks.

The Community Tournaments

Round one of Balders’s Grand Play Offs competition continues this weekend. The latest standings can be found here. Balders was back again later in the week with this update on the latest preparations for the FIFFSA 5-a-side World Cup tournament.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 32, which saw 150 players depart and 1726 remain.

Jaffalicious also popped by with an update from the FFS UEFA Champions League competition.

Finally, congratulations to Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Andy, who thanks to Harry Kane is now 149th overall.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

is it worth playing AOA chip this week and saving a FT to fix my defence next week? I only have .3 itb

    Gomes (Myhill)
Bertrand - Bellerin (Martin, O'shea, Souare)
    Sanchez - Payet - Mane - KDB - Wjnaldum
    Bony (C) - Vardy - Pelle (VC)

still unsure on who to captain and which GK to play

There is a discussion on City players being subbed off early later. Looking at Zaba, Clichy, Silva, Nasri, Delph and Aguero sidelined, and the possibility that Sterling might not start, I have come up with two scenarios on the possible subs when Sterling is or isn't started. This could have some impact on whether to put the captain armband on Bony/KDB or a non-City player.

The bench will have those names in brackets except for Zaba. This is assuming Sterling is still sidelined if Pellegrini wants to play safe and needs him for CL match next week. If Man City has little changes from the lineup in the Cup earlier on, I guess the only change would be:

    Hart (Caba)
    Sagna (Zaba)
    Kompany (Demi)
    Otamendi (Mangala)
    Fernandinho (Fernando)

The three subs that I can think of for the match against Norwich could be like as below.

    Case 1
If Sterling is absent (and Kelechi started in 4-4-2):
    60'+: Fernando in for Yaya
70'+: Demichelis in for KDB (?)
    80'+: Mangala in for Bony

    Case 2
If Sterling is started regardless of 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 (and Kelechi benched):
    50'+: Fernando in for Yaya
    60'+: Kelechi in for KDB
70': Demichelis in for Sterling/Bony (not too sure for who is replaced)

    Original Cup lineup (4-4-2)

City XI: Caballero, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Mangala, Kolarov, Toure (C), Fernando, Navas, De Bruyne, Bony, Iheanacho #cityvpalace #mcfc

Subs: Hart, Kompany, Otamendi, Sagna, Garcia, Barker, Roberts

I'm guessing Case 1 might happen. Any thoughts on this?

Have A strong feeling Iheanacho will start This week.He certainly has impressed and Won't be surprised sterling delegates to Bench(injury concern)

My exact sentiments. If so, the bench will have no experienced midfielders (other than Fernando if he is benched) to come on and replace Bony/KDB. This is going to be tricky and a punt on whether to cap KDB or not.. 🙁

Whilst I think the theory is sound, and I'd bet on something similar, it's difficult to realistically predict what Pellegrini is going to do because there are so many variables. Injuries, red cards, yellow cards and looking to protect players and the team from someone subsequently getting sent off, poor form on the day for a particular player, City may unexpectedly go behind (in which case the attacking players are less likely to be subbed) or be held scoreless for a while, a particular player might go mental (Aguero-esque), I think there's just too many unknowns.

Great argument! My point here is on the assumption of a safe and typical match commentary, with no injuries during the match. It is good to consider the unexpected events as well!

There's such a thing as over analysing. The fact is that Man City had scored 4 goals by the time KDB was subbed off v Bournemouth (weekend prior to their last CL match) and it just so happened that it was Sterling and Bony's day to shine.
If City have scored even just 2 or 3 goals by the time KDB gets subbed then he should be a great captain.
