The veterans I’m tracking had plenty to smile about after Gameweek 36. This bunch of experienced Fantasy Premier League managers, made up of Hall of Fame table-toppers, FFScout moderators and contributors as well as former winners, used hits wisely to ensure they go into double Gameweek 37 full of confidence.
TRANSFERS
Gameweek 36 transfers by positions (% of all transfers in bracket)
– Goalkeepers: (5.88%)
– Defenders: (25.49%)
– Midfielders: (45.10%)
– Forwards: (23.53%)
Dele Alli’s three match suspension and speculation that Kevin De Bruyne would be rested ahead of Manchester City’s Champions League game with Real Madrid made this a busy week in the midfielders transfer market for the veterans.
Transfers In:
– Dimitri Payet (WHU): 23.53%
– Patrick van Aanholt (SUN): 17.65%
– Jermain Defoe (SUN): 14.71%
– Manuel Lanzini (WHU): 14.71%
All of the most popular transfers in have a double Gameweek 37 and many rewarded their new owners with an immediate return on their investment in Gameweek 36. Of these, Defoe earned a penalty in the final minutes of Sunderland’s clash with Stoke, while Dimitri Payet brought in assist and bonus points.
Transfers Out:
– Dele Alli (TOT): 35.29%
– Mamadou Sakho (LIV): 29.41%
– Aleksandar Mitrović (NEW): 26.47
Dele Alli and Mamadou Sakho are suspended until the end of the season, while Aleksandar Mitrović started in only one of the last six Newcastle games.
Hits:
One in six veterans took a hit, compared to one in three amongst the top 10,000 FPL managers and just under one in ten of managers overall.
CAPTAINS
Most of the popular captaincy choices, apart from Harry Kane, failed to register returns. This meant the selection of Alexis Sanchez, who notched just three points, did not damage their rise up their rankings.
MOST POPULAR PLAYERS
Top starting players (after autosubs)
Karl Darlow proved to be Fantasy gold for our veterans. His huge ownership amongst them paid off again as he finished with 15 points, including maximum bonus points, thanks to his penalty save heroics. Among managers overall his ownership is just 1.8%, showing what a key differential he has been.
OVERALL RANKINGS

Thanks for posting.
Looks like the veterans spent hits to successfully dig themselves out of a hole, caused by rotation and suspensions, as well as plan ahead for DGWK 37.
Fingers crossed they can continue their march back to respectability.
