The Community Round Up

Armed with a wealth of information from the first Gameweek of the season, our community writers have been assessing the value of popular and under the radar options, as well as discovering how well some of the Fantasy Premier League’s most experienced managers fared. Our round-up also looks at the battle lines already being drawn up between veterans and casual managers, a goalkeeping soap opera and the mixed fortunes of Fantasy football’s cheapest players. Elsewhere, we catch up with the statisticians in the Members area take a peak at the key numbers of Gameweek 1’s most attacking players and we also find out who has claimed early bragging rights in our community competitions.

The Community Articles

Players from the two Manchester clubs dominated the thinking of our community writers this week with TimT pondering whether the 74,000 Fantasy Premier League managers who have drafted in United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic this week may have been better off transferring in his team-mate Wayne Rooney.

Mesqueun has been looking at Manchester City’s attack and found that Raheem Sterling could be an unlikely source of attacking points this season.

Meanwhile, supporters of both Manchester clubs are among those in high spirits ahead of Gameweek 2, according to Bolivian Seaman’s latest look at what the fans are saying.

The wealth of choice among Liverpool’s attackers is the subject of Loudini’s first community article, while Andy85wsm looks back at FFScout’s successes and failures in predicting Gameweek 1’s top performers.

The veterans being tracked by Kavali had some notable crystal ball gazing successes, after finishing the Gameweek well above the overall average. As well as revealing details of the 50-strong group of stalwarts being monitored, he also rolled out details of their excellent first Gameweek of the season.

Finally, SW6 announced that battle is well and truly underway between Fantasy Football addicts and casual managers this season as he looks to get one over a smug Steve in accounts.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With just one Gameweek completed the FPL transfer market is already busy. We considered whether some managers may be too hasty to ditch certain players, while Demba Ba examined whether Philippe Coutinho justifies being one of the week’s most sought after players. The Liverpool midfielder also came under the gaze of Applebonkers earlier this week.

Following his goal against Everton last weekend, Erik Lamela is also attracting interest. Gooner Kebab asks whether the Spurs midfielder is the real deal or a one-match wonder.

Among the busiest in the transfer market are those who had a poor week. These unfortunate managers popped their head above the parapet to take part in our first Rough with the Smooth of the season, where our community details their tales of joy and woe.

Joe Hart has certainly had a rough week, after being left out of the Manchester City starting XI for the foreseeable future. Dusan Citizen dropped by to offer some more detail around the soap opera that is emerging between the sticks at Manchester City.

Makaveli23 added to the chat about misfortune by asking the community for their Fantasy Football horror stories, with Stoke’s Jon Walters coming off the bench, along with his missed penalty and two own goals, a particular tale of fright for him.

Burnley players will also be cursing their poor luck after losing to Swansea at home last weekend. Aggero urges caution in writing off their ability to keep teams at bay at Turf Moor this season.

There were mixed fortunes for the 4.0 priced defenders in the Fantasy Premier League player list, according to Bobby F. While Marc Wilson has moved from Stoke to Bournemouth, where he once again faces stiff competition for a starting role, Swansea’s Stephen Kingsley and Jordi Amat earned their investors valuable clean sheet points and the hope they can continue being named in the starting XI.

The Members Tables

Before ditching some of Gameweek 1’s low scoring players it may pay to see if they feature on my goals imminent table and offer the prospect of points over the coming weeks.

Team performance comes under the microscope of 76509, while premK86 takes a look at the statistics of Gameweek 1’s most attacking players in his latest table.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The Scout Picks Challenge, which is based around our own Scout Picks, is back with @OFCProdigy dropping by this week to announce details of how to take part in Gameweek 2’s contest. Another popular community contest to launch this week was Fantasy Football Frog‘s Five Prediction.

The draw for the qualifying round of JaffaliciousFFS UEFA Champions League competition has now been made, while in TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score in Gameweek 1 was 43, which saw 165 players depart and close to 3000 remain.

In Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league the leader after Gameweek 1 is Aidan Pearson, who is 731st overall with a score of 85.

Going into Gameweek 2 Facer has taken an early lead in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league, closely followed by 2013/14 FPL champion Tom Fenley.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    Really need help A B or C please ...

Mane being out is making me do these changes already, its the Sky sports fantasy team which is why i can make all these changes and not get hits

    A. Chambers, Hazard, Ibra (4 transfers)

    B. Stones, Hazard, Martial ( 2 transfers )

    C. Stones, Sterling, Ibra ( 3transfers )

Using up 4 transfers in the Sky game at this stage is a madness imo. Especially when one of those is Chambers. Go for B, as it is the lesser evil and Martial gives you a captain for tonight.

Stoke will score, Sunderland play Moyes anti-football. Boro has a better shot of a cs imo.

I would go with Stones as Stoke won't see a lot of the ball in the match

Is Deulofeu worth transferring out, due to possibly not being nailed on and no longer playing OOP?

Yes, transfer him out. I will be happy not to have less people getting points!

Tadic to Redmond will be a 0.2 swing tonight - if tadic blanks again will that be convincing many of you to go for it before the rise?

    A) Alli & Mahrez
    B) Hazard & Rooney

Currently have Alli and Mahrez but really tempted to go B but would obviously mean a -4 hit.

The scientific analysis part of me is considering Gray to Llorente (6 shots, 4 on target).
Although would be nice to just have a 2 free transfer cushion going into the next GW..

I'd say stick, with Baston still out injured no idea how they'll line up when he's back and Llorente's fixtures get awful after this week

What's the difference between a casual and a hardcore fantasy manager?

How do you know when you've stopped being a casual and started on the hardcore route?

What's your highest FPL position at any stage throughout the season?

    Thanks

I'm thinking about leaving it and make 2 transfers next week but still not sure
Townsend also failed to deliver and not sure about keeping him
Feghouli is a doubt and I don't know what to do about him
