The Community Round Up

After a Gameweek in which 27 different players got on the scoresheet, the community is struggling to come to terms with the vast array of choice.

Some of our community writers and hot topic posters are even considering going without Sergio Aguero to cope with the selection headaches ahead.

Our latest round-up looks at the pros and cons of ignoring one or even both of Manchester’s premium priced strikers and find out just how much Fantasy football is impacting on our working lives and relationships.

Midfield maestros and aerial hot shots are scrutinised in our latest members tables and we finish our round-up with a look at those who have mastered the art of team selection at the summit of our community leagues.

The Community Articles

MGPT has dared to think the thinkable in his latest community article, which looks at whether going without Sergio Aguero this season can bring success. In one of our most commented on community articles opinion is clearly divided over this controversial strategy.

Life without Aguero, who started the first of a two-match Premier League absence through suspension in Gameweek, brought mixed fortunes for our predictions, according to Andy85wsm’s look back at our crystal ball gazing skills.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With 16 players earning double-digit Fantasy Premier League points scores last week, the community is awash with choice for their next transfer or wildcard selections. Our hot topic on how we cope with this season’s wealth of options on a limited budget ponders some of the key names to consider.

One way is to look at some mid price and budget options, with Santi Cazorla’s rise to third in FPL’s midfielder points table, catching the eye of Hyperion. He is particular interested in how the Spaniard’s dominance of set pieces will impact on the Arsenal’s usual assist king Mesut Ozil. Ktk_interiesta provided some further analysis on this Gunners duo.

MGPT’s plan to go without Aguero was also picked up by Ktk_interiesta in our hot topics. His discussion looks at further factors to consider if opting for this risky move.

Mark revealed on our latest Scoutcast that he is also considering a similar risky move to save money, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his firing line. In contrast, I favoured saving money in midfield and keeping hold of the Manchester United forward. Both strategies came under your gaze in our hot topic on how to stretch FPL’s budget when Aguero returns in Gameweek 6.

For those following Mark’s lead, Marcos Rashford could offer a cut price route into the Manchester United attack, says Athletico Timbo.

Meanwhile for those wanting both Aguero and Ibrahomovic, promoting Watford’s Etienne Capoue from fifth to fourth midfielder status could offer the solution, says Andy85wsm. The bargain basement Frenchman is after all the surprise top scorer in FPL with three goals, an assist and eight bonus points.

Those who have already promoted Capoue into their first XI took bragging rights in our latest Rough with the Smooth look at your Gameweek.

Elsewhere, we found out this week just how much Fantasy football is impacting on your lives. For maths teacher Samaael he is incorporating the statistical analysis required to find a new striker for his FPL team into his lesson plan.

While Rupert the Horse put his marriage at risk shortly after exchanging vows by wildcarding during his honeymoon.

The Community Tournaments

Alex Hale is the new leader of Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league and is up to 648th in the FPL overall rankings. This is no fluke for Alex, who finished 293rd last season. In this league, all bar one of the top 10 owned Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku also helped Evs snatch top spot in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league from Facer.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Zedred and Thomas Tran hit the top score in Gameweek 4 with 97. There are now 2902 teams qualified after 154 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 25.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.
