Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Everton vs Manchester United

After Liverpool’s second-half collapse in a seven-goal thriller at the Vitality Stadium, we now make our way to Goodison Park as Everton entertain Manchester United in the 4pm kick-off.

With five goals in as many outings across all competitions, Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the hopes of many Fantasy managers heading into this one.

Up against a defence with one clean sheet in nine, the Red Devils’ frontman was the second most captained player in Gameweek 14 with just over 13.1% of Fantasy Premier League managers handing him the armband.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial are rewarded with starts after both excelled in the midweek cup win against West Ham.

The Toffees recent downturn in form saw over 231,000 FPL managers part company with Romelu Lukaku last week alone – only Philippe Coutinho was subject to more transfers out ahead yesterday’s deadline.

Now down to 9.5 in price, the big Belgian has netted just once in the last five Gameweeks compared to six goals in his first seven appearances.

Nonetheless, with United managing just two shut-outs in the previous 10 league matches, Ronald Koeman’s side will be optimistic of getting back amongst the goals today.

It's sad that everyone now has the same front 6 or so players.

We all know it will change in a week or two. As soon as one or more blanks once or twice, most are shipping for one who scored well last week...

Think Siggy and Firmino are the first to fall out of the template if they blank next week. And Costa could get his ban and any of them could get injured.

Hope so with Firmino. But Coutinho will be preferred when he's back. And Kun will be bought when he's back, and the teams will have to be changed a lot again. And then we have a new wildcard to create a new template.

Preferred option for the longer term?

    A) Mkhityran and Anichebe
    B) Ayew and Wilson/Deeney

Ayew and Mkhityran both have pretty sexy fixtures.

    Cech Pickford
    Vert Lovren Pieters Williams Amat
    Hazard Mane Redmond Siggy Allen
    Austin Ibra Kane

To get Sanchez in, is it worth a minus 4 of:
    -Mane to Sanchez
    - Austin to Anichebe

Would leave me having to play Anichebe/Allen each week and no Liverpool coverage,

Sold Aguero last week, so his -1 and ban are good for me short-term, but concerned that it's encouraging the dreaded template to form. Too bad, as it's been nice and free-wheeling to this point. Trying to fight back, in my puny way. Paid 24 points for transfers these past 4 weeks, and happy(ish) with my team for middle-term. Will forego Costa and instead pick up second Chelsea defender. Sanchez, Kane, and Hazard should provide all the captaincy coverage I need.

Then you need an Arsenal mid. Theo doesn't score as much as Sanchez, but better than most other mids for that price. I'm going with both Sanchez and Walcott home against Stoke next week.

Did Kun + Anichebe to Costa + Kane for a -4 for the following

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Walker Evans Holebas Love
Sanchez Hazard Firmino Siggy De Roon
    Costa Kane Austin

    0.1 ITB

Would be nice to be able to have a front three of Costa Kane Ibra in a few weeks time but if Alonso/Walker stay looking dangerous I might keep them.

  12. Vatroslav

I'm about to do a second -8 in a row.
Last GW I had to because of the price falls/rises. Had 3 players that dropped total of 0.8, and I brought in 3 players that rose a total of 0.5, so that went okay.

Now, one of them was Pedro.
I'm desperate of buying Costa and Sanchez, but I already have three Chelsea players. The only way in is Aguero/Pedro/Alonso -> Costa/Sanchez/Ake (-8).

That would give me a front line of
    Hazard Sanchez Firmino Siggy
    Kane Costa Austin

That is a very good frontline, and I think it's worth the -8, given their form and fixtures.
    What do you guys think?

Would be a shame to lose Alonso but you'd catch some nice price rises. Depends if you think there is another workaround in the coming weeks, Alonso should get some good CS points again soon which is already making it difficult to justify selling him on a -8.

As a utd fan, so fed up with our continued midfield woes.

    Just did a little statting.

    Total goals from midfielders (as classified by FPL) so far this season from 14 games;

    ARS - 26
    LIV - 30
    CHE - 18
    TOT - 14
    MUN - 6
    MCI - 15

6 goals!? I'm aware Sanchez may skew these numbers slightly but 6?? Not good enough.

The worst thing that ever happened to Man U was bringing in Ibra. Pogba and his cray cray shots not on goal stats are a close second. They are basically a slightly better Crystal Palace.

For -12 to take advantage of others having to hit and spending some of this week's ton now I'm in the top 10K.

I don't like it tbh. Do Ibra to Costa if he is fit, and wait on the rest. One bad game doesnt make Firm a bad pick - such logic led to Sanchez being transferred out earlier in the season.

Would it be madness to do Mane & Firmino to Sanchez & Lallana? Would have to do it tonight....

    Azpi Alonso McAuley/Barragan/Amat
    Siggy Alexis Hazard Firmino
    Austin Defoe Kane

No costa but that should do, no?

    1FT, £4.1m banked

    Heaton
    Alonso Clyne PVA
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Siggy
    Kane Austin Anichebe

    // Pickford Allen Amat Evans

    A) Austin (MID) > Costa - missing out on Soton's great fixtures, though they aren't great away from home
    B) Allen > £9m/Erikson/Liverpool double - Continue ignoring Costa
    C) Save FT, play Austin and re-asses next week but taking into account that a second rise to Costa's price will mean i have to use 2 transfers to get him in (downgrading Allen maybe)

If you do Allen -> Eriksen and I do Gundogan -> Siggy we will have the same front 8.

I think its a good front eight, and we can get Costa after his suspension (it will come!!)

Hmmm i would say yours depends whether City play again midweek and how they line up, if Gundogan plays then he may be a doubt at the weekend in which case pull the trigger.

I havent been concerned about getting in Costa until now, that Aguero ban means everyone will have Kane & Costa up front so trying to block those, i am reluctant to lose Austin though...

Do you think Gündogan to Siggy for -4 is worth it?

    1 FT 0.0 ITB

    Cech Pickford
    Morgan Koscielny Holebas Cedric Amat
    Hazard Siggy Firmino Sanchez Philips
    Costa Defoe Anibeche

My defence really needs a makeover and I don't know what to do with Firmino. What should my plan be for GW14? Willing to do -4 for sure.

    2.4 ITB

    Pick Grant

    Walker Pieters Brunt Holebas Amat

    Sanchez Firmino Mané Chadli hojberg

    Kane Costa Austin

    Should I do Chadli ---> Siggy/ Eriksen (-4)??

Any news on Firmino and Mane?

Also, what do people think, is Alexis raising tonight? Should be fairly close.

Emre Can still a sneaky play if you're selling Allen this week. Seems like he's carving out a role as the box-to-box guy with Henderson deep, complete opposite of last season.

Is Lallana nailed on for the next few GW's?

Is was expecting him to start this GW but i assume Klopp wanted to ease him back in.

What was I thinking sticking with Mahrez this long. He is so not last year. If I ditch him it will be a complete 100% turnover of my week 1 team. Same for you guys? I thought I was good at predicting season keepers, but that went out the window with Balotelli. I thought he had turned a corner.

I have done Pedro + Rondon -> deBruyne + Anichebe, and even posted comments about it. I don't remember when I indulged in this extravagance though. Fuchs me.
