Captains

Captain Poll – Gameweek 15

Following his sixth double-digit Fantasy Premier League points haul of the season, Alexis Sanchez (11.5) is surely likely to be among the frontrunners to top the Gameweek 15 Captain Poll.

Already more than 145,000 FPL managers have drafted him in following his stunning hat-trick against a hapless West Ham defence on Saturday evening.

But his next opponents Stoke City may not be so obliging when they visit the Emirates, having conceded just eight goals in their seven away games.

Gunners team-mate Mesut Ozil (9.6) offers a strong alternative for those unable to afford the Chilean.

The 9% owned German’s goal and assist against the Hammers produced his third double-digit FPL points return of the campaign.

Interest in Theo Walcott (8.0) is likely to be muted following a dip in form that has seen him muster a solitary shot on target over his last four league matches. The 16.7% owned England winger did, however, score with that one attempt, in Gameweek 13.

Chelsea’s dynamic duo of Diego Costa (10.7) and Eden Hazard (10.4) are odds on to be the other leading contenders at the summit.

The 46.8% owned Spanish striker is already FPL’s most popular player and attacking points look likely when West Brom visit, given he has delivered in all bar two of his 14 Gameweeks.

The 35.6% owned Hazard may not boast the same consistency as Costa but his explosive potential and strong home form is surely set to garner plenty of votes. Three of his four FPL double-digit hauls have arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho (6.6) may get another opportunity to impress in Gameweek 15, with Sergio Aguero starting a four-match ban for his horror tackle on Chelsea’s David Luiz on Saturday.

A trip to a Leicester City side that has conceded eight times in their last four league matches offers the Nigerian starlet the chance to become a regular in the Captain’s Poll until Aguero’s return for Gameweek 19.

Backers of the 3.4% owned striker will be optimistic after he delivered a 20 point FPL return over two matches when he last deputised for the Argentinian.

Kevin De Bruyne (10.8) is another Manchester City player with the pedigree to step up. The 10.4% owned Belgian also did well during Aguero’s previous three-match ban, scoring 27 points over Gameweeks 4 and 5.

Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday looks tough to call and is likely to temper interest in their respective front men, Harry Kane (11.0) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.2).

Jose Mourinho’s troops have conceded just six goals and kept two clean sheets at Old Trafford, while Spurs are equally resilient on the road: they have also allowed just six goals and kept a pair of clean sheets on their travels.

A lacklustre attacking display against Bournemouth on Sunday is likely to curtail the popularity of Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino (8.8).

That was his third successive Gameweek blank, but with 14 goal attempts over the last four matches, Firmino may still be a shrewd captaincy pick against a West Ham outfit that has shipped 10 goals over their last three.

If he can recover from a knock sustained at the Vitality Stadium, Sadio Mane (9.3) may be the best option in Jurgen Klopp’s ranks. The Senegalese scored and assisted in Sunday’s defeat and has despatched a further five goals at Anfield.

Sunderland’s visit to Swansea offers a pair of strong differential contenders. For the home side, the 7.4% owned Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.4) has proved a consistent option, with at least a goal or assist in four of his last five matches.

Jermain Defoe (7.7) remains the visitors best armband option, scoring his eighth goal of the season at home to Leicester City on Saturday.

Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke (7.5) is another with form and the fixture to attract attention. He will be in search of his fifth goal in as many league outings this weekend and travels to a Hull City side that has conceded 12 goals at the KCOM Stadium. Five of the 7% owned Belgian’s seven goals have been scored in away matches.

Decided to duck on bringing back in Firmino this week in favour of Eriksen redy for those two home games.

Simple reason is that if, as i'm expecting, Liverpool line up with....Lallana Origi Firmino....then I really don't see much difference between Lala and Firmino....apart from 1.8 mill.

He may well do. Doesn't really matter to me because neither rival has him in my (very) mini League. They do both have Eriksen however.

Eriksen always works in purple patches, every season. He was scaring me a bit for those two home games. He can't hurt my ML lead now...and nor can Firmino.

I prefer Firmino long term though...Lala can plug the gap maybe for a while.

Defo not being dropped, but not playing in his best position could reduce his points? With 8.8m to spend I starting to look elsewhere but keep coming back to Firmino.

    Bench: Grant, Capoue, Evans, Kingsley

0FT and 4.4 ITB. Should I take a hit and use that money in the bank or wait for next week and get someone like Eriksen in before his two home games? Either that or take a hit to get Firmino in before West Ham, but could just use Can+4 as well.

How much cash do you have? I personally wouldnt go Wilson. A good budget risk would be Andy Carroll. Though west ham leak goals, they can definitely score. Payet deliveries with Carroll back will probably score you a few points. Easy run after Liverpool game

So Aguero is out till Liverpool game and has already dropped 400k owners. Got me seriously considering bringing him in for that game specially if he drops below 25% ownership.

My initial plan was to look at him again in February for West Ham but at below 25% he should become a good differential assuming that at least 40% of the inactive teams still own him?

depends are you buying a third striker or not. If yes, then you shld go for benteke/ austin. Take a hit and get alonso as he is against west brom this week and fancy a clean sheet. Can can wait for the next gameweek as you shld not take a hit for a fifth midfielder.

Hmm your situation is tough. Tossing up your options I personally would get rid of pedro and bolasie, bring in a strong midfielder and a less weaker one, maybe Phillips? Give Lukaku another crack. I just feel pedro is a waste of space. Willian will probably start over him because Pedro is slightly injured

You definitely need Sanchez in somehow, least an Arsenal midfielde, maybe go Ozil?. Pedro needs to go, so does Blind and Friend.

If I were you I'd turn my team into possibly

      Pickford, Heaton
Ake, McAuley, Cedric, (Any sure starting defender), Amat (As your last resort defender, you won't use him ever but least he is a starter)
      Firmino, Siggy, Hazard, Ozil, Phillips

I was thinking on taking a -8 next week and taking out Sigurddson/Pedro, Blind and Heaton out so I get more money to buy Sanchez, Grant and Muneisa coz Ill then only have 4.3 but the thing is Swansea re messing up pretty bad and that's gonna affect Sigurdson's perfo and Pedro faces competition with Willian as Conte would keep Will if hes in form and moreover, Friend was doin good till he fell outta form so Muneisa is my only choice there. Your thoughts?

    Pickford (Grant)

    A. Smith - Cedric - Pieters (McAuley - Friend)

Hazard - Moses - Firmino - Mane (Allen)

    Costa - Kane - Austin

0 FT, 3.0m ITB - Would ideally like to bring in Alonso/Rose for Pieters but would need to get rid of one Chelsea player. Thoughts on going Pieters + Moses for Alonso + Fer. Leaves 1.7m for a future keeper upgrade.

I like your idea. Definitely bring in Alonso but I would bring in Phillips over Fer as for a budget midfielder. Siggy runs the show for Swansea and is more reliable for points. Fer just gets fortunate tap ins

    Hey Scoutlings

I'm struggling for captain in the absense of any Arsenal, and seeking advice!

    Firmino vs Hazard

I know Hazard is the obvious choice, but WBA are no mugs at the back (usually) and could easily frustrate Chelsea, who are devastating on the break.

Liverpool blew it last week, but with West Ham a shambles at the back he could run riot in response. It could be a huge differential, but it's a risk for sure.

Does anyone think Firmino is a shrew risk to take, or do I play safe with Hazard?

    1. machickenz
      • 10 Years

As a Liverpool fan, I would say go safe option with Hazard. Coutinho out and Mane a maybe. Lallana returns but I wouldnt be sure how well he'd perform yet. Firmino is playing on the wing instead of upfront at this stage because Origi is up front. Least you know Hazard is playing at home and is on penalties. West Brom are defensive minded team but they have only kept 1 clean sheet in the last 5 games.

Very defence heavy when they don't hit the big points. I would try and get a premium striker in if possible. Most likely Kane

I feel maybe save that FT for next week. That way you can fix 2 positions up. I feel its not that crucial or urgent to replace walcott for siggy. Thats what I would do anyways

As soon as Aguero got that red, I knew he had to go before prices rise on Sanchez.
So I went with... Allen > Sanchez and Aguero > Austin. Did I make the right trade?

    Team for GW15
    Pickford
    Alonso McAuley Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Walcott Siggy
    Costa Kane Austin

    Foster Pieters Fletcher Love

Play Pieters (Away to Arsenal) or Amat (Home to Sunderland)?
