The Stock Check – Gameweek 20 – Wednesday

Dele Alli scores twice for the third successive Gameweek as Spurs extinguish Chelsea’s 13-match winning streak. Christian Eriksen supplies both assists as Eden Hazard’s form on the road continues to cause concern.

On the Rise

Dele Alli
It’s seven goals in the last four Gameweeks for the Spurs midfielder after scoring twice in the 2-0 win over Chelsea – his third successive brace.

Serving up points in six of his last eight outings, Alli has soared to third in the Fantasy Premier League midfield standings and has now scored 10 goals this term – matching his tally for the 2015/16 campaign.

Number one for transfers in this Gameweek with a massive 166,000+ new owners, Spurs’ upcoming schedule suggests that Alli could keep on delivering as the bandwagon picks up pace – the north London side host West Brom and Middlesbrough and travel to Sunderland in the next four.

Christian Eriksen
While Alli claimed top billing at the Lane, Eriksen kept his tally ticking over by supplying the assists for both the starlet’s goals.

The Dane’s 11-point haul – a fifth double-figure return in eight appearances – took him to fifth amongst FPL midfielders, highlighting his points potential ahead of those aforementioned fixtures.

Indeed, with the 10.9-priced Harry Kane failing to get amongst the goals, the prospect of doubling up on Eriksen (8.6) and Alli (8.4) may prove more appealing for those looking to invest in Mauricio Pochettino’s attack.

The Spurs Defence
With their first-choice defensive regulars all fit and free from suspension, Spurs chalked up an eighth clean sheet of the season last night – second only to Chelsea’s 11.

Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to roll out a 3-4-2-1 set-up bodes well for the prospects of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, who were both utilised as wing-backs against the Blues.

Indeed, Rose has now produced attacking or defensive returns in each of his last five appearances – an average of 5.1 points per match is second only to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (5.5) amongst defenders. He did, however, pick up an eigth yellow card and is now just two cautions from a two-match ban.

The return of Toby Alderweireld in recent matches also looks key. Spurs have chalked up six shutouts in 12 matches with the Belgian on board, compared to two clean sheets in eight without him.

With the schedule now in their favour, investment in Pochettino’s main men at both ends of the pitch looks likely.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
The Belgian’s struggles on the road continued last night – he’s scored just twice away from Stamford Bridge this season.

More worryingly for his 34.7% owners, Hazard’s blank means he’s found the net only twice in his previous eight league outings – a far cry from the performances that served up seven goals and three assists in the first 11 Gameweeks.

Should he fail to pick up the points away to Leicester City next time out, Hazard – who also faces Arsenal and Liverpool in the next four Gameweeks – could see the exodus pick up pace as we look for better value in the premium bracket.

Harry Kane
With Alli and Eriksen bringing in the points again, the Spurs striker left his 13% ownership disappointed by failing to score at home for the third successive fixture.

Although Kane’s 16-point haul away to Watford last time out reminded us of his goal-getting talents, at a price of 10.9, there’s no doubt his appeal is lessened by the more budget-friendly alternatives in the Spurs midfield.

Given that the battle for premium-priced forwards has intensified recently, Kane needs to step up his consistency in order to prevent further sales as we look to Sergio Aguero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa up front.

Willian
A run of four straight starts came to an end last night as Pedro returned from suspension to oust the Brazilian from Antonio Conte’s first XI.

Willian’s brace against Stoke City in the previous Gameweek had suggested he would retain a starting berth at White Hart Lane, offering us a viable mid-price alternative to Hazard.

Yet a 26-minute cameo appearance off the bench confirmed that his acquisition clearly still comes with a major risk, with Conte still somewhat uncertain over that role on the right of the Chelsea front three.

If you go Giroud you can always downgrade to Defoe if his minutes are reduced. The fixtures are very good for Giroud too.

Possibly. If I don't WC next week I quite like the look of

            Benteke -> Giroud this week
            Carroll/Payet -> Stanislas/Costa (-4) next

The lack of CHE in particular means I will probably WC next week latest though.

    Costa Ibra Origi

I'd lose Hazard to Alli. who can you get with the funds left? If your brother has Defoe I'd avoid, not enough of a threat to be essential and other options available for better teams.

i've chased down leads of over 100 points at this time of year so it's do-able. don't panic is step 1. look at his team and say - which of his players can I not go without? then get good differnetials with the rest. with DGW / bench boost / triple captains to play, you still have a good chance of catching.

No need to WC, you have good core. I am debating the same Origi -> Defoe move for -4. Since we don't know if he will be getting 90 any more, that seems like the right move for you. Maybe do Mkhit -> Alli next week, and then you'll have some extra cash for your defense.

true but watford defense seems worsen recently and he's a card magnet, odd chance of assist though.

    My team after -12 (hits):

    Heaton
    Baines/Brunt/Jones
    Sanch/Haz/Alli/Mkhi/Phillips
    Ibra/Costa

    Bench: Pick, Amat, Love, Barnes

Tempted to do Mkhi -> De Roon, Barnes -> Defoe, Love -> Ake, Jones -> Rose and Pickford -> Robinson by activate Wildcard. That leaves me 0.0 itb.

Neither are competing with his role directly though.

Sanchez and Ozil are 100% nailed.
Walcott looks pretty nailed when fit.
Then it's 1 from Giroud, Iwobi, Ramsey, Ox, Perez

Giroud is without question the form guy from those 5 and Wenger tends to leave players in who are on form. Personally I think we play better with Sanchez leading the line and Giroud coming on late, but Ramsey, Oz and Perez have been poor and Iwobi is hit and miss.

After my worst week in a whole season, I am tempted to WC. Already on -4 due to panic moves earlier.

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Brunt Jones Amat Kinglsey
    Hazard Alexis Lallana Phillips Fletcher
    Negredo Costa Kun

    A. WC and get Alli for Fletcher, downgrade Negredo to a fodder and play 3-5-2 and upgrade my Amat/Kingsley
    B. Lallana > Alli for a GW and once Coutinho is back re-access to get back Liverpool mids.
    C. Negredo + Fletcher > Alli + XXX for a total of -12.

Don't mind a big hit, if ti's for long term.

What are the main reasons to go Defoe over Giroud?

    1. Lawrø
      • 12 Years

Because he's nailed and won't require a transfer out later down the line.

Guaranteed starts. He doesn't have a Sanchez ready to take his place. And the lone goalscorer for his team. Less price.

Im amazed since ive joined this site 2 weeks ago I have now broke into the top 100 000 its got me quite emotional!!
I desperately need your advice and Im close to triggering the WC, my team is as follows:

    Pickford Valdes
    Alonso Evans* Barragan* Pieters Jones
Sanchez Zaha AFCON Phillips Lallana De Roon
    Aguero Ibra Lukaku

Even writing this I probably know your responses wil be to say pull the trigger on WC but if I dont I may do 1FT

    Zaha> Stanislas or Ramirez

fix your weakest link first. Need to know how long Barragan and Evans remain out for, but you have enough in D to cover them. Defo Zaha > Stanislas for me.

It's ranked over 1m so you can't make any further damage...

Team ID #1117 if you want to have a look at it. I'm usually a quite dull manager but this didn't work, so I decided to take many hits which didn't work either 😆

Send me a mail if you're interested.

Who do you think is a better pick and why?

    A) Hazard
Has 4 goals and 53 points in the last 10 matches

    B) Kane
Has 8 goals and 64 points in last 10 matches.

Kane's Total shots, Shots in the box, Shots on target, goal conversion all are better than Hazard in the last 10 matches. Kane scores both away & home.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Stats seem to suggest than. Than one penalty miss because of that dodgy patch of grass cost Kane 9 points. Otherwise he would be 20 points ahead of Hazard.

Kane because he as 8 goals and 64 points in last 10 matches, compared to Hazard's 4 goals and 53 points.

Kane's underlying stats (Total shots, Shots in the box, Shots on target, goal conversion) are also all better than Hazard in the last 10 matches.

Additionally, Kane scores both away & home.

In all seriousness, it comes down to whether or not you will captain them.

Kane's fixtures over the next four are far superior, but Hazard looks a prime captaincy pick for GW 22. A haul then would skew any sort of stats that you're looking at. However, Liverpool, Arsenal and to a lesser extent United, all have good fixtures that weekend and so you could easily put the armband on someone else.

I'd much rather have Kane in my team to 'tick a long'.

    Foster/ jakupovic
Rose, Alonso, Daniels / Ake, Holgate
    Sanchez, Philips, Lallana, Alli, Zaha
    Costa, Ibrahimovic / Anichebe

1.8 ITB and 2FT and willing to take hit.

Option A) Zaha > De Roon and Anichebe > Defoe
Option B) Downgrade either Rose/Alosno > Brunt/Baines and then do Zaha > Pogba/Coutinho (if fit again)
Option C Play it safer and upgrade Ake > walker
Option D) Have faith in the almighty snoddy even with his fixtures and straight swap him for zaha.
Option E) Someone make me the ultimate plan!

0.6 ITB 0 FT Good to go?
    Forster/Pickford
    Alonso/Jones/Ake/Cedric/Amat
    Philips/Pogba/Lallana/Sanchez/De Roon
    Costa/Ibra/Defoe

    I'm considering two options:
    a) I replaced Eriksen with Pogba last week, didn't think he'd keep his form but I was so wrong... Am I crazy to switch back for a hit? (Already took a -4 with Siggy/Anichebe > De Roon/Defoe)

b)Drop Cedric for Baines for a hit before Baines raises tonight. Would allow me to rotate defence based on form and fixture as Cedric is not really nailed on and has been nothing but problems since I brought him in

Probably is worth the hit if keeping long term yeah - I'd wait until after the City game but if you can't afford due to possible price rise then would do it before then.
