The Big Numbers – Gameweek 18-20

Next this Saturday, we catch up on the member’s area statistics over the last three rounds of fixtures with our usual post-Gameweek article.

We assess the lay of the land at Arsenal as a result of Olivier Giroud’s first-team return before analysing Tottenham’s man of the moment and Manchester United’s pair of form players.

West Ham and Everton also play a part in our thinking ahead of some fine upcoming fixtures.

Time to move for Giroud with this lot?
Negredo has decent fixtures too but think I would be silly not to bring in Giroud now..
    Thoughts?

    Heaton (SOU).
    Alonso(lei), Walker (WBA), Jones (LIV).
    Eriksen(WBA), Lallana(mun), Sanchez(swa), Phillips(tot).
    Ibra(LIV), Negredo(wat), Costa(lei).

Pickford(out), Holebas(MID), Whelan (sun, Amat (ARS).

now that giroud is in form and Walcott has missed many games is the time to bring the Frenchman in. I had rondon but decided to take a hit, not to miss any giroud hauls in the next easy fixtures, before champions league rotation and fatigue. he could be benched, but he could even come on as a sub to turn a draw into a win and into points for us

Wenger must have seen that Walcott - Ozil - Sanchez is far better than Giroud and others. Giru can't play ball, he can gather fpl points though...

Given his recent scoring record you think Giroud won't be starting the next few? I don't think you can say Walcott will be a certain starter when he is fit.

There is no need to rush him with giroud hitting. Iwobi is playing well . Ramsey may hit form .

I would downgrade bellerin , Arsenal isn't exactly keeping CS, and go with either Rose or Walker , use the fund to tidy up bench. Blanks maybe coming sooner than you think

If Bellerin was injured enough to miss games next week don't you think Wenger would have given Jenkinson a run out to tune him up rather then Maitland Niles?

Makes no sense, looks like a typical Wenger excuse to justify leaving half the first team at home just like Ozil has probably not been ill but having a winter break instead.

Lol Jenkinson? Has no confidence in him. He even played useless Gabriel over a fully fit Jenkinson in the premier league.

That's all he has, he's certainly not playing Maitland Niles in the PL so makes zero sense to play him unless it's a one and done for the cup.

                Bellerin will be fine.

That article doesn't back up your point, if Bellerin is injured and Gabriel is to play RB then he would have yesterday with Holding playing at CB.

                  Bellerin will be fine...

I don't understand why you are being so needlessly stubborn about Bellerin. No one is saying he'll be dropped. You are basically saying Wenger is lying when he said Bellerin is injured. Not sure anyone can talk you out of what you want to believe. And fyi, the Arsenal backline when bellerin was injured a few weeks ago was

                  Gabriel Kosc Mustafi Monreal

Really not sure what you're getting at.

I'm not being stuborn just pointing out that Wenger does lie to protect his decisions and you have no clue at the status of said injury as he didn't go into it so maybe don't give out bad advice until it's clear, that's what's making this site lose its quality.

You are fairly insane. Wenger said Bellerin is injured, not me or not some random tweet. I'd believe him than you or your crazy theories. I asked the poster to prep for the worst rather than be bullish about Bellerin being fine. Jeez.

Agree. I don't even know why there was an argument in the first place. Wenger said Bellerin was injured. The poster assumed fairly confidently he's fine. Just wanted to sound out a warning, that Arsenal's history with injuries mean you can't take that for granted and to brace yourself for the worst possible news. There was nothing that said transfer him out asap or whatever. And we've typed posts and posts about bad advice and Wenger lying and what not.

Was just about to do Francis to Ake when fortunately I saw the recall rumours.

I also have Cedric with his own injury and rotation issues - my plan was to get Rose/Monreal in the coming weeks.

    a) Francis to Chambers (leaving money to upgrade Cedric to a premium-ish def)

    b) Francis to Daniels (leaving only 5.3 for a Cedric replacement)

since you use your 2nd and last wildcard of the season, you d better plan to have a reliable bench too.
as it stands, jaku is never playing, so you should look for another cheap gk sub like grant to rotate.
      def is nice.
mid also nice, only that hull always depend on Snodgrass and he cant always perform. stanislas is good for now, allen could be too
      I d like a better cheap 3rd striker, like rondon/origi/negredo

I am playing 3-5-2 . Hope to have fit coutinho firing on all cylinders to replace snodgras, I dilemma whether to bring junior in instead of snod. Deciding factor is pk duty and new manager Marco Silva

Conte has seen what Ake can actually do given the chance and I'm certain he's got a plan for him which doesn't involve warming him on the bench every match.

He should play given the injuries to Sturridge, Coutinho(?) and Mane's absence, but he hasn't looked sharp at all when he's played..

If you have him, worth keeping for a bit an assessing. I might even rotate him for Pool's alternating good/bad fixtures.

Penalties provide goals and goals provide points, I get that, however don't you think we all often use them as an excuse to buy or not buy players?

Ita obviously a nice extra but I think people over use it for decisions.

Obviously the Kun example this week. Now the best striker in the league is suddenly not worth having because he's lost pens.

Flip side Callum Wilson is often being talked about but he's not even nailed and in the side all the time.

In 50/50 calls definitely use it as a decider but don't let them drive bad decisions.

People just want an easy excuse to justify not buying Kun and they often can't be bothered to do any research.

Having said that, pens ARE a nice bonus, especially for a striker playing in an attacking team with pacy wingers, or a player in defence who often has a great chance of BAPs if they get a lucky pen and clean sheet (i.e. Baines or occasionally Daniels).

If ake move takes place before hull, wouldn't bmouth be left short of central df cover as Francis is unavailable ?

Not conte's problem, but as a scheming fpl manager , I would think snodgras is a good shout for that kind of defensive crisis
