Sky Sports Fantasy Football – Mid Season Stock Check

Following up from November’s Stock Check article, we touch base again with the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game with a look at the key players so far as well as the latest picture of transfers made.

Man of the Match Awards

First up, let’s take a look at the Man of the Match (MoTM) darlings so far, listing any player to have earned the award at least three times.

Pic1

Points of note

  • Five of the top six teams in the league feature in the four awards and above category, which is perhaps, to be expected. Less predictable perhaps was that the three promoted teams also feature in the four and above group. The big fish, whether in big or small ponds dominate.
  • Creative midfielders and big name forwards are heavily featured the list.
  • Despite Philippe Coutinho missing the last seven games he remains top of the pile, with the Brazilian due to return to action shortly, it seems a sensible move to find a way to fit him into our eleven.
  • Sergio Aguero has started just 12 games this season mainly due to suspension but has managed to pick up four awards. Granted one of these was from the bench but the Argentinean still seems to offer a strong captain option given his  MoM award every three game average.

Bonus Magnets

There have been a few tweaks in the bonus department this season by Sky, making it slightly easier to obtain these extra points. Pinpointing bonus magnets this season is therefore crucial.  Lets now take a look at the players to have been awarded bonus in any shape or form ten or more times so far.

Pic2

Points of note

  • Every player listed is a central midfielder, aside from Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
  • Jordan Henderson is in a league of his own; his total bonus points are equivalent to 12 midfielder goals.
  • Everton’s Idrissa Gueye, Oriol Romeu of Southampton and  Bournemouth’s Harry Arter offer a high chance of bonus at a relatively low cost.
  • Ander Herrera and Granit Xhaka have high bonus per start stats, suggesting they could challenge the upper reaches of this table if they can nail a permanent starting role.

Transfers

Lets now take a look at the average amount of transfers Fantasy managers have left in the higher reaches of the overall leaderboard.

pic 3

With 20 games having been played in the league we are just over the half way point in the season and therefore a transfer count of 19/20 would put you on course for one a week from here on in.

Of course injuries, dud picks and even a busy festive period mean many of us will be short of this number but I would suggest if you are somewhere in-between the average for your rank and that benchmark then you stand a chance of climbing the leaderboards before the end of the season. That is assuming your buying the right players of course.

Harry Arter ...another gem that passed me by. Definitely looking at him as a long overdue replacement for Capoue.

      He is awesome for Bournemouth

Not sure if he is a FPL asset though

Yep. Eg Henderson is a legend in Sky, not so much in FPL.

I've had him for months now. 4 points a game for 6.6 is pretty tasty. Occasional flirt with more and the motm award too. He seems the go to cheapie on offer

Loving Sky this season. So much better than FPL

Love the cpt feature this season - lots of cpts without the stress.

also loving no price changes making us feel we have to sign certain players or miss out later on (fpl).

Yes. This is exactly why I like it.

Somehow I seem to be a lot better at Sky and it must be in part to do with both of these factors.

3 good captains and your rank rockets and one failure is no big loss as most people fail once.

Pluse having to find captains for random monday night games or similar really does create differentials

          Yeah indeed.

Rewards individuality sometimes and the occasional punt whereas FPL seems to reward safety in numbers (opinion)

Me too...for both reasons Luke has stated.

Suits the patient manager who follows stats. My kind of game.

Yes. It's funny, I had never done Sky before but I thought I would give it a punt this season as I felt it was more similar to the Euro's game which I did well at. I am doing well in this as well for a first shot.

I agree. Somehow my Sky rank is 7k compared to FPL of 1.2m!

Thanks D1sable. I was starting to think my 18 trannies remaining was a little shy but it still looks like I have lots of scope compared to the people above me.

    Great work

I have been wondering this. DO we know how many people actually play Sky? Being UK only must hamper it a bit

      There are 738,414 teams

      There are 628,564 unique managers

      (correct as of November)

You're doing well those Cheese... Especially for a first time.

Everyone knows I love this game, doesn't get the numbers it deserves.

Definitely could. Need to keep it going and continue getting some luck, but frankly you definitely could too inf act anyone in the top 100ish could. You can make a couple hundred points up pretty quickly, I did myself.

As a side note Adam Forshaw is also in the ten or more bonus table at the bottom but had to be culled due to IT issues lol.

    His stats:

    Price: 6.3m
    Apps: 18(2)
    Bonus: 10 times
    Type: 5 x pass, 5 x tackles (one tier 2 passing)
    Total bonus pts: 21
    Bonus per start: 1.2

Always nice to see a sky article on here!

I'm looking to bring Coutinho in, his stats before the injury made him the best in the game at one point! I missed his points before, not this time. The fact he is still at the top for MoM's just shows how good he was.

Since I realised how many points Hendo was picking up for bonus a few months ago I don't think I've made a better transfer since! He always gains points. I'm also thinking about upgrading Romeu to Gueye when he's back, your stats confirmed it Disable!

I have 15 transfers left, been a bit unfortunate with injuries and suspensions mainly, trying to use them wisely now..

I have a BLOG for SKY PLAYERS, feel free to check it out people: https://skyfantasyfootballguide.wordpress.com/

Still ages to go. Anyone in top few hundred can still make a huge dent and even win it. Where are you ranked? Transfers left?

Sorry. You said that above. My bad. You're looking like a natural at this game. My top finish was 101 a couple years ago, last year was in the mid thousands due to not jumping in vardy and mahrez quick enough.

The season before last I was 5k around about now. I transferred in Wes Morgan amongst others remember when they started that run and I ended up 352nd. So anyone in the upper reaches now certainly has a chance!

Sadly not for me though just worked my way up to 7k over Xmas from 20k.
