Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Bournemouth

Another year another Gameweek.

We take a trip to the seaside for the opening Premier League match of 2018, easing ourselves back into Fantasy Football action with a clash between Brighton and Bournemouth.

Our interest in this match-up is somewhat limited, with a clean sheet likely to be the desired end result for many managers.

The Seagulls have impressed of late with their resilience, recording a shut-out in three of their last four Gameweek outings.

Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk are the key figures in their back four – they are owned by 3.5% and 3.4% ahead of today’s contest.

Pascal Gross remains their most popular asset. The German is still part of 17.7% of squads and hinted at a revival in his Fantasy output with a goal in Gameweek 19 which ended a run of six matches without a return.

Bournemouth go into today’s contest off the back of a win over Everton but without injured key men Josh King and Ryan Fraser, while Nathan Ake is rested to the bench.

Fantasy interest in the Cherries is limited, with Charlie Daniels their top owned asset as part of 6.7% of squads. He has lost over 336,000 owners since Gameweek 16.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    I did Hazard to Eriksen just because haz was dropping in price, but he got a test so he was safer... huge mistake

    What dgw player were you most tempted by but did not get in the end?

    For me it was Lanzini bearing in mind that i also opted to go without Kane.

      Because you'd have used the free hit and still suffered rotation. I think its best to use a free hit when 6-8 sides don't have a game later in the season

        Totally agree. Top sides will go far in the FA Cup and there will be a week where hardly anybody is playing and you don’t want players for the LT where the FH is useful.

        There's usually only 2 major double game weeks each season. Much much better to WC before the first set and use a TC/BB for each double. The FH chip is new and really doesn't have better value over the former two in the doubles. Hence why this was a great week to use it as a chip.

          Not necessarily true. Every year we have to build a team around DGWs fornweeks in advance. This time we can focus on the other gameweeks as normal and bring in all DGWers on the DGW with the free hit. Could be very useful

          The wildcard doesn't let you make as many one-week transfers for the blanks before the doubles. The free hit has better value for the blanks.

    Kind of regretting my last minute captain swap from Eriksen to Kane. Just got a gut feeling about Eriksen. Hopefully Kane will outscore, and if not, then Eriksen's captaincy ownership is low anyway, so Kane is a much safer choice.

      I would have been more worried if he was carrying a knock, but slight illness/cold not so much. Of course its two games in such a short span however. Kane certainly gets 1 bare minimum and even then he has two great matches to continue his prolific form. 😀

        The gamble was always if he’ll play Swansea too.

        In my opinion he was the obvious TC pick as unlikely other players in the big teams would play twice in a week later in the season, given that there will be little to play for.

        BB, FH are better chips when more teams are involved in DGW

      Not having 5 to 6 tot and whm players, plus some non-starting bench players, would have a huge problem now. Tons of players are forced to rest or rotated, as many of us forget that there are many teams will be playing within 48 hours, not only tot and whm. Both tot and whm will feature their best team at their first match this gw at least, making -4 hit highly valuable if you are replacing those bench enablers.
