Weekend Team News
The team news for this weekend has rolled in throughout the week and I’ve been updating this page with all the latest rumblings that have been emanating from the various Premiership camps throughout the week.
I’ve changed the format of the team news slightly, to allow me to update this more freely over the course of the week and to allow you to track the changes and to get links to any relevant sources. See what you think…
We’ll get the usual raft of team news updates from the pre-match press conferences today so look out for major updates on this page this afternoon and this evening. I’ll bring you any late team news leading up to Saturday mornings regular pre-match preamble as usual.
ContinuedGameweek 12 - The FPL Captain Poll
I forgot to announce this earlier in the week but most of you may have noticed that the FPL captain poll is live and fully operational. There’s plenty of time to register your vote and, with things pretty tight right now, you might even make a difference.
As always, use this thread to discuss the issue of FPL captains in particular and I’ll help you out by making it readily available under “Featured Discussions” in the middle column.
ContinuedWalcott To Face United As Wenger Lets Rip
Theo Walcott should be fit to lineup against United at the weekend according to Arsene Wenger.
The Arsenal boss opened up on his worries in today’s press conference prior to the Fenerbahce game and he was quick to announce that Walcott and Gallas could well return to face United. Sagna is also fit and should get back to action tomorrow. Wenger, in a forthright mood, then went on to blame his latest array of injuries on poor old Stoke in what was a rather colourful day for the press at the Emirates…
ContinuedInjuries and Bans Leave Gunners In Tatters
Arsenal and Wenger will be licking their wounds this morning after a battering at the Britannia stadium yesterday. The Gunners were on the wrong end of a Delap-inspired defeat and also suffered the loss of both Walcott and Adebayor, in addition to having Van Persie red-carded. They now face United next weekend with a string of absentees…
ContinuedThe Weekend Team News
The initial weekend team news is in and can be found in the usual corner of the site here. It’s been a hectic week with the midweek fixtures, so apologies for the delay in giving this its usual Thursday update.
I’ll be updating this up right through until tomorrow morning and the FPL deadline. I’ll post again if there any major news leaking from the mouths of the Premiership bosses later today.
ContinuedFerguson Reveals More On Rotation Plans
Alex Ferguson made a number of key changes in Wednesday’s win over West Ham - most notably the inclusion of Tevez up front for Rooney and Kuszczak in goal for Van der Sar. The United boss offered some insight into these decisions on Thursday, hinting that further rotation would be on the cards….
ContinuedHughes Applauds Fantasy Ireland
Mark Hughes has handed owners of Stephen Ireland the ultimate reassurance on his starting role in the City side by declaring him their best player so far this term…
ContinuedGameweek 11 - The FPL Captain Poll
It seems like only yesterday we did this (it almost is) but your new poll for the next gameweek - fast approaching this weekend - is now live.
While tonight’s games will obviously be a barometer for form, feel free to commit yourself to an early vote, or use the link in “Featured Discussions” in the middle column, to pop back in here later in the week to make your vote and add your opinion.
ContinuedThe Midweek Scout Picks
Hands up - the picks for this gameweek are more than a little shameful in their lack of originality. In my defence, with the Premiership powers of United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all facing decent fixtures – it’s next to impossible to ignore their players. I have offered a decent array of alternatives though, to hopefully dilute the “bleeding obviousness” of my selection. Read on for the possibly the most predictable picks of the season…
ContinuedUpdated Team News
Torres ruled out by Rafa. Barton will start for Magpies. Barry winning his fitness race for Villa. Samba returns for Rovers. Gordon is 50-50 for Sunderland, with Keane revealing that he’s unlikely to start with Jones at Stoke.
The injury table and team news section has been updated with the latest juice leaking from the Premiership grounds as we push towards that 7.30pm FPL deadline (don’t forget).
ContinuedEarly Midweek Team News
With the gameweek kicking off rather abruptly tomorrow evening (Don’t forget the 7.30 FPL deadline) you’re going to need all the team news you can get, nice and early.
I’ve spent the evening rounding up all the latest knocks and bruises from the weekend in the injuries and bans table and presented you with my early thoughts on the lineups for the midweek games here. Expect updates throughout the day tomorrow leading up to that nasty FPL deadline.
ContinuedGameweek 10 - The FPL Captain Poll
With the deadline for the next gameweek just over 24 hours away (it’s tomorrow night at 19.30 hours), we don’t have long to gather opinion on this week’s best option for Fantasy Premier League captain.
With Ronaldo and Lampard bringing in measly bonus this weekend, this should be an interesting. Get voting and as usual, use this thread for captain related discussion. I’ll link it in “Featured Discussions” in the middle menu bar as usual.
ContinuedRonaldo Starts…
Of course he does. Never had any doubt. The lineups from Goodison’s noon kick off are in and Ronaldo is on the team sheet, as is Wes Brown at right back.
United have Vidic and Ferdinand back as expected, Park is recalled to the midfield and Fletcher and Giggs keep their places. Tevez and Anderson are on the bench with Rooney and Berbatov up front once again.
As for Everton - it’s a 4-4-2 from Moyes with Saha partnering Yakubu - Rodwell is dropped. Baines is dropped to the bench with Yobo coming back into the defence.
ContinuedThe Weekend Scout Picks
I’m a little bit late with these this week so apologies for that - better late than never though, here are my thoughts on a select eleven for the weekend’s fixtures.
If you missed the Midweek Meander detailing my thoughts on the fixture list you can catch that here. Otherwise read on for all the juice on the team you can now see at the corner of your right eye…
