FFS Paddy Power Cup XI and Members Cup V – Fifth Round Draw

This afternoon we roll out the fifth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the fifth round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup.

The FFS Paddy Power Cup XI’s only surviving former champion Jonty (that’s me) scraped into the next round by the slenderest of margins, with rank deciding my clash with wagwan after we both earned 51 points in Gameweek 32. I will now take on The Flying Nugget in round five.

Mark also progressed after squeaking past Rook by just three points to set up a round five tie with Bartowski. Fuml_akimbo, who has a rank of 50 and was the conqueror of Paul in the fourth round will now face Reggie Boy in round five.

Among other eye-catching round five ties is John Terry’s Dog’s match up with NeedleVor, while Ryansquares up to Super-Hans.

The manager with the highest round four score was arob100, who wins £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power.

The highest ranked remaining manager in the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI is 15th placed BegTets, who has a tough tie against 928th ranked Jon Nurse.

In the Members Cup ties intriguing ties include Billy Ketsu’s match with Footygod19 and Johni00’s clash with Needlevor.

The highest ranked manager in the Members Cup is 34th placed Everybody knows badgers love mashpotato, who faces Green_Libero.

The full fifth round draw for the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI can be found here, while the fifth round draw for the Members Scout V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

I quite like FSG. For some players we need to fend over more money. However, if we be smart in the market and take measured risks, we don't have to pay top, top wages. We just need to sign quality. Coutinho, Can, Sakho, Markovic epitomise what FSG are about. Lallana, Lovren, epitomise what Brenda does in the transfer market.

The Yehven Konoplyanka saga. I think there's a lot of questions about where we lost the league. We are 3 first teamers away from CL football regularly and about 6 + a manager away from winning the title. Frank de Boer, goalkeeper, DM and a striker and I think we'd get into the top 4 next season. We need to be more wise, and FSG are just rebuilding before they sell. I quite like what they're doing.

market value shouldnt be a definite indicator. one have to look at what one needs too. like if your in the desert you'd be willing to pay 10$ for a bottle of water. well fsg wont. they will rather invest 1$ and have a sip

Yes, I agree. But Bony isn't a 30m player. The committee suggested Balotelli and there wasn't another viable option. I have no clue why Remy was passed on but he wouldn't have been a good fit either.

belive they did a reasonable effort trying to haul in sanchez though, but arsenal just swayed it. but i guess if they overpaid another 5/10% a week he would be liverpool player.

More the personality and attitude which is the problem with Remy. He would've caused problems unless we had a Mourinho type figure.

This summer should be interesting though. Reckon FSG want to bin BR as well.

Remy never caused any issues at QPR or Newcastle - very professional, he's also stayed very patient and given everything when called upon at Chelsea. Not sure what he's done to make you question his personality/attitude?

I like Remy but just don't feel he'd have been a good fit.

I was a massive fan of BR but his ego is holding him back. He could become a top manager if he accepts a D.O.F with new coaching staff, and leave transfers to others./

I would be very, very happy some of these:

                        Goalkeeper: Trapp/Leno

Defensive mids: L Bender, Wanyama, Guilavogui

dont think hes ego is too big, and also thinnk managers should have a saying in the transfers. you thinking about the balotelli transfer?

The Balotelli transfer was a suggestion from the committee so I wouldn't hold BR at fault, but he mismanaged him and hung him out to dry after every other loss in the earlier stage of the season.

I think I'm going Fab as my 3rd Chelsea, and hope Remy only gets one game. Especially as no. 1 in the world has gone with Remy, so need some small differentials to cut the 25 point gap.

IDK about Bolasie. He had the huge outlier game, but I have a bad track record of rarely getting big points after a big pointer (see Tadic). Yaya surely has the potential and the opponent, but he's been been so bleh of late. I still may wimp out and take him.

I hear ya, Tuttifruitti. Even though Yaya is playing poorly, he still probably has the greatest potential to have the big game. He is a proven producer, at home, against a struggling team. He even scored a couple of weeks ago in a game in which he was not doing too well, just due to his natural cannon of a shot. Imagine if he actually has a good game?

well imagine if bolasie CONTINUES hes form. but, y, i get what your saying, but think the logic is flauding a little. i watched the derby last week and kinda liked what i saw by yaya tbh, but the media is having another opinion for sure

Well, if you thought Yaya did well last week, that should give you the confidence to consider him. I will lose more sleep if Yaya does well and I take Bolasie than if I Bolasie does well and I take Yaya. I feel like I need to go with the percentages. Yaya is more likely to score more points than Bolasie, IMO. But, I thought he was not intense in the derby and did not force play or try to make plays. That is my biggest concern. He lacked heart, to me.

Which transfer should I use to free up funds for Skrtel next week?

    a.) Siggy -----> Puncheon

b.) McAuley ----> Morgan (got Schlupp)

    ???

Would you play Morgan? If so, then A. Otherwise, B sounds like it would not have any negative downside...

Aswell as saving money, I could do with the transfer improving my chances of points this week (33) as I'm in a head to head league!?

Saurez really is amazing. Would have loved to get another year out of him at Liverpool. Took him a while but he has found his form with Barca, can't see anyone beating them at this point with their form. Could easily get the triple this season.

Suarez has been fabulous of late, and Neymar continues to finish well, too. Messi can score or create chances for others (he is like a point guard in basketball out there). Barca can be beaten by a strong defense and counter-attack, but it will be tough with Iniesta healthy and Rakitic who can score from outside. They are more balanced this year with Matthieu, Mache and an improved Pique.

    Remy out:

    A murray
    B vardy
    C save

    Schmeichel (panti)
    Ivan Bertrand Cresswell (naughton hutton)
    Mane eriksen hazard silva (boyd)
    Kane remy aguero

If you have a WC and 2FT and no other blanks, do it. I am likely moving Remy to Murray so as not to risk another last minute Remy MIA. Can't have that happen again. Just cannot.

-Who to get instead, 1 week punt or dgw player?

Currently tempted by Naughton --> Schlupp
