Solid. Hopefully Walcott plays, otherwise you can always downgrade. You could trade Azpi for Koscielny, but that's really a nitpick. :]

Not a fan of Chelsea defence, or just think Arsenal offers better value?

Don't know whether only the mods are supposed to reply, but I'll still give my opinion.

Overall I like it. Reasonably punty.

The only problem I see is that your bench seems very weak : in case of injuries you'll have trouble fielding a suitable replacement

Brave to go without Hazard. Looks good but I feel it's missing a 'kick', especially seeing the lack of Hazard. I spent ~2.0m less on defence than you, yet still have Azpi & Jenkinson in defence, along with two 4.5s and a 4.0 (with a loan 4.5 in goals). This is my attack:

      Hazard Ozil 7.0 7.0
      Aguero Rooney 5.5

I think a funds distribution favouring attack heavily is more flexible (seeing as the crucial trends are usually in attack) at the start. Just my opinion.

No Hazard is a risk. Reliable captain option for Chelsea early on I reckon. And the 53% ownership is scary.

Shaw over Arsenal defence? I'd have Mertesacker.

Rusell Martin over a Sunderland defender? Sunderland probably v. slightly more reliable and rotate well with Huth

      1. Melvin Udall

I'll wait for kneejerkers selling hazard after week 3 when he scores 3 pts a week and fab gets the points. Should be able to buy him cheaper then.

And what if everybody captains him week one, he scores and gets max bonus and his ownership goes up to 60%. There's no guarantee of what's going to happen but Hazard is more likely to score points than Fabregas

Take your point, however I will gamble on fab going by his previous form leading up to Christmas and over 2 million helped upgrade sakho to benteke. I guess that's the fun of fantasy football.lol

Goalkeepers - I like the Pantilimon pick but what happens if he get's injured? Will you have to waste a FT to get in another keeper? I think you should have a rotating pair, get Krul as your second choice.

Defence - Very Nice, Huth is a good pick along with Shaw and Jenkinson but will Azpilicueta do as well under the new BAPS?

Midfield - I like this midfield very much but the only problem I see is that you do not have Hazard. I know this term get's used a lot but in my opinion I do believe that Hazard is "essential" - preseason has shown us this. I like the Walcott pick but once Sanchez is back in GW2 will he not be a rotation risk?

Attack- Pelle is someone who I have as I beleive he is the best Southampton pick as they have awesome fixtures. Rooney is also a good pick but I'm worried points might be spread in the United attack. However, Benteke is a risk in my opinion because I am worried he might not feature in the opening game at Stoke so that's 8.5 wasted in GW1. I don't this he's trained yet with the team.

I'm pretty happy with Benteke and him starting.

I'm also likely to make a team that contains Hazard before the season starts so point noted on that for sure!

I still think Azpilcueta will do well, although I know Doosra doesn't agree.

I get what you mean about Pantilimon but I like the fixtures so think I'm going to go with it until about GW15

    Hi, RMT please:

    Ruddy/ Rudd
    Azpilicueta/ Mertesacker/ Huth/ O’ Shea/ Francis
    Hazard/ Fabregas/ Sterling/ Ozil/ Mata
    Giroud/ Defoe/ C. Wilson

Planning to wildcard sometime within the first 10 GW’s, so I’ve set my team up with those fixtures in mind. Only players I’m really nervous about leaving out at this stage are Milner, Ritchie and Rooney, and to some extent Chadli. But considering fixtures, and the coverage I’ve got, I’m quite happy with my team. Will probably do Fabregas  Milner in GW2 for Liverpool’s home game.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you!

Thanks so much for your response!

I think there are plenty captain options in the midfield, and will downgrade a midfielder, to upgrade Giroud to Aguero when he's fit.

Too much spent in midfield for me - if you're planning on a 3-5-2 I'd suggest having a 4.5 forward who you don't use and try to beef up another of the forward slots.

With this strategy I would advise you have at least one of Kane/Rooney/Costa/Aguero (i.e. a big hitter) in order to maximise your forwards' points.

I prefer Mane to Tadic AND 2 4.5s to 1 5.0 so it's a no brainer from me.

Aguero's not nailed for week one so I wouldn't have a 13.0m guy not playing week one. His price aint going anywhere week one if he doesnt score. Spread the cash around and plan for a return week 4

I like this. Good spread of money across the positions...some good captain choices.

Lack of Hazard could be a worry, but Mata, Sterling, Cazorla, Fàbregas could make up for that.

Jags - you are a spoiling me. I'm very keen on him this season with the change to the bonus points, but beware after gwk 1 fixtures turn very nasty for Phil

The only reason for not picking up Hazard is the first 2 chelsea games and mourinho's mentality. Might bring him in after 2nd GW.
And If I drop Jagielka, any decent replacement. Don't want to go with Ivan too in the start.

I reckon Mata/Fab in gwk 1, Pelle gwk 2 look good and slightly different captain choices. But yes there are no big hitters that everyone will have. That could be costly.

For many Rooney/Hazard/Costa/Walcott will be the stand out gwk 1 picks. I'd perhaps consider one or two of them.

Basically any RMTs I answer are based on the following. Every one will have a different set of criteria but here's mine -

Is there a good balance with at least one good defender, a good captain choice in midfield and a good forward captain choice.

Does it follow the early fixtures? EG - ManU and Arsenal have a good start for captain options, Chelsea, Manchester City less so.

Is it dominated by sure things and top table teams. I’m not keen on seeing too many punts. If you are to take punts try and go cheap or have the odd one. For example Depay, plus Ritchie, plus Deeney, plus Payet is too many risks for my liking.

Are you able to get Aguero in with no more than two transfers? He looks the best capt bet in Gameweek 4.

My personal opinion but I don't like the idea of rotating attackers. I'd rather downgrade one and spend the money on the other.

As for defence I think there's probably better options than Clyne initially, especially when he's your most expensive defender.

    Speroni Butland
    Azpilicueta Alderweireld Cedric Morgan STaylor
    Hazard Ozil Henderson Chadli Ki
    Rooney Benteke Deeney

    Just a general RMT.

I’ve tried to plan and leave a bit of money in the bag to do transfer Ozil to Sanchez when required. However I did also plan to spend this elsewhere should Ozil go super turkman on us.

STaylor seems like the only long term nailed on 4 priced defender apart from Targett, still considering doing Targett for first few fixtures and maybe switching back to STaylor, double Southampton didn’t hurt last year!

I really want to do Wally, he was on fire end of last season, and this pre-season. Just prefer my players to be at least 90% nailed on starters and I can't see him being that just yet, this coming from an Arsenal supporter too! I can definitely seeing myself with double Arsenal midfield before Christmas, so you never know!

    Hello guys 😀

    Could you please RMT please:

    Pantilmon--Butland
    Azpi--Alderweild--Francis--Huth--Targett
    Hazard--Ozil--Ritchie--Sterling--Milner--
    ----Benteke--Rooney--Deeney-----------

I am quite happy with my team but my main query is Deeney or Wilson and is Alderweild necessary?

I think Wilson is the better option. Don't rate Spurs defensively from an FPL p.o.v. maybe Jenkinson? Or a 4.5 and upgrade Targett as he won't play.

You may suffer from bench points every other week.

    MID- Sterling, Tadic, Depay, Walcott
    ST- Aguero, Deeney, Rodriguez

Aguero's probably injured for GMWK 1 so I wouldn't bother having him in there.

Also City have bad fixtures week 2 and 3 so most people are looking at week 4 to bring him in.

Think JRod will be eased in so Pelle would work better. Having 2 Arsenal defence players could be a handicap if they are scoring well. Not sure on Baker.

      Pelle.
      Depay.

Mertesacker might be a roation risk so you are better off upgrading him to Koscielny.
Jenkinson is a good pick with great attacking potential.
Huth is a steal at 4.5.
Francis should get the odd assist here and there.
O'Shea yes I like the pick and he should be nailed on.

Arsene Wenger has managed Arsenal in 7 Charity/Community Shields.

After three of those (including last season), he named the same line up in the pre-season showpiece as in the opening match of the league campaign a week later.

In the other four, he made only one change to that starting eleven.

One was due to Bergkamp being injured, two were due to a young player getting a start in the CS (Flamini and Pennant, then replaced by Gilberto Silva and Ljungberg in the league), and only one was a like for like switch (Wiltord for Bergkamp in 2003).

Basically, expect Wenger to start with the team he intends to use in GW1 this weekend, and pay particular attention to the back four - to date, he's always used this competition as a way of bedding in his defensive line up.

How does this look? (I do not want to WC early so I am planning ahead)

    Steklenburg Ruddy
    Azpilicueta Williams Huth Cameron O'Shea
    Hazard Walcott Ramsey Chadili Westwood
    Pelle Rooney Wilson

    GW1: Walcott to Sanchez
    GW2: Ramsey to Ki/Shelvey/Sinclair
    GW3: Rooney to Aguero

    Steklenburg Ruddy - Rotation Pair.
Azpilicueta Williams Huth Cameron O'Shea - Williams/Huth rotate and Cameron/O'Shea rotate.
    Hazard Sanchez Chadili Shelvey Westwood
    Pelle Aguero Wilson

Does the team look good or do I have to sacrifice one of the "elite players" to balance it out? 🙂

I changed up my team , it sucks now but rate it and tell me what to do. Just starting to mess around with it after Costa left the game due to hamstring problems. I know its nothing serious yet but I wanted to make a team without him because hes injury prone and mourihno likes playing mind games.

    Myhill-Hennessey
    Bellerin-Huth-Azpil-Francis-PVA
    Hazard-Cazorla-Walcott-Tadic-Anya

Hi lads, what do you make of that team, for a 343 ?

    Pantilimon - 4.0

    Azpilicueta - Cedric + rotation (Mings/O'Shea/Huth)

Hazard - Sterling - Ramsey (or any Arsenal) - Chadli - Wanyama

    Rooney - Benteke - Wilson

1.5 ITB so that I only need to find 1 million to adjust for Aguero if he explodes fast.
My concerns are on 1. Chadli for gametime, 2. Benteke for efficacy, and 3. if an extra million to get Ivanovic is worth it.

    1. Blame the Ref
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 9 months ago

      1. Chadli's gametime should be largely similar to last season or better imo - Spurs definitely haven't signed a replacement.

      2. I feel that Benteke may take a little time to adjust and certainlyn Liverpool's fixtures aren't the kindest, so I'd consider someone like Pelle or Lukaku in this price range.

      3. I think Azpi is fine - if you use 1m to get Ivan it will be even harder to bring Aguero in when you want without using a wildcard.

i'm currently planning to use my wildcard around gm4 with this team

    Fabianski // Kasper

    Ivanovic // Stones( jenkin after GM1) // Cedric // O'shea // Francis

    Hazard // Mane // Payet // Milner // Anya

    Rooney // Kane // Deeney

Seems silly making a defensive transfer after GW1. If you want to save your WC, you need to plan for a longer period and use transfers in attack over defence. If you want Aguero, someone needs a nice downgrade.

For me that would be insane. Arsenal are capable of really punishing weaker sides and they face a fair few early on. They could easily score four or five against West Ham in Gwk 1.

No - we saw against Lyon that Arsenal mids tend to share the points around them, with Sanchez and Walcott likely to be the standout options. So it's probably not the end of the world whichever you pick as they will all likely pick up some points.

I still consider Benteke a slight risk in terms of early starts - he hasn't had a Liverpool pre season and may be eased in with a gwk 2 start. Similar for Adebayor - who is a massive risk wherever he plays.

Like the midfield though, but I'd consider a prem defender in the backline - Chelsea perhaps. Always reliable. Azpilicueta if low on funds.

    Here we go then:

    Butland-Ruddy

    Azpi-Mertesacker-Huth-O Shea-Targett

    Hazard-Walcott-Ozil-Milner-Surman

    Rooney-Kane-Deeney

Main issue is the 2nd and 3rd strikers. Kane yet to play any minutes in pre-season but the alternatives worry me, Lukaku fixtures, Benteke also yet to play, Giroud not nailed. Deeney is very popular on here but let's face it, he plays for Watford and they can't all be Charlie Austin (and even he started pretty slow).

Do you favour a cheap defence from the start?

From GW1 I see it as crucial to stay flexible to attacking bandwagons, and therefore important to keep cash in midfield and attack. Spare £££ will soon arise from bringing in bandwagons which you can then invest in your defence.

I'm hugely against the Gmwk 4 WC. This season more than ever with the chips you're gonna want that 2nd WC for a double gmwk sometime around wk 30. That's 26 odd weeks between wildcards which for me is a big risk with the busy Christmas period where there's lots of rotations and then January transfers.

Plus it's always so difficult to plan your transfers, especially during the first few weeks when players nobody thought of start scoring and you want them in.

You're team actually looks pretty solid, but I'd look at Hazard over Costa if you're only going for one or the other
