The Stock Check – Gameweek 7 – Friday

A tale of two halves and two Belgians. Romelu Lukaku added to his goalscoring repertoire, conjuring an unfamiliar strike, only to see it wiped out by his compatriot Christian Benteke, doing what he does best. Here’s the Stock Check from Friday’s Gameweek 7 opener.

Romelu Lukaku
Lukaku seems capable of scoring any type of goal.

Everton’s Belgian took his tally to five goals in just five starts with a beautifully executed left-footed free-kick.

Kevin De Bruyne provided the assist – his recent strike for Manchester City under the Bournemouth wall, seemingly convincing the Crystal Palace defence to keep their feet on the ground, only to watch Lukaku’s effort sail over their heads and into the corner.

Now in the pecking order from dead-balls, should Lukaku also be confirmed as Everton’s designated penalty taker, he will be cleared to challenge for 25 goals and the Golden Boot.

The goal, coupled with two bonus points took Lukaku to the top of the Fantasy Premier League forward rankings. That could now lead to another surge in ownership over the international break – a trend that would be accelerated should Zlatan Ibrahimovic fail to figure amongst the points at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Christian Benteke
Right now, Crystal Palace’s Belgian is only scoring one type of goal, although Alan Pardew and Benteke’s Fantasy owners won’t be complaining.

Five starts, three goals and three typically impressive headers – the 6% owned Benteke furthered his case to claim our third striker spot with his Goodison Park display.

Palace have not taken long to hone their supply to feed their new striker and, with a constant stream of crosses flighted in his direction, Benteke looks set to thrive.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looking at wildcarding for next gw, on the assumption kane will be fit, my first draft is below. Weak on defence i know but that seems the way to go this year. Any comments very welcome thanks.

    Cech pickford
    Lovren stones pieters smith amat
    Sanchez snodgrass capoue lallana antonio
    Aguero kane rashford

    Thanks all!

    Bottomed. I'd love some help...

I've got 2 FTs to play with this week (and 0.2). I think my defence may be a little bit heavy?

Where could I improve with a bit of cash?

    Foster/pick

    Baines/ walker/ stones/ holebas/ amat

    Sanchez/sterling/ lallana/ bolaise/ Capoue

    Aguero/ Janssen/ lukaku

Baines and Bolaise look like the best candidates for the chop??? What do you think?

Yeah at least one of the everton has to go. Maybe bolasie to snodgrass. Saving 1ft could be worthwhile knowing that janssen is at risk when kane comes back and holebas is on four yellows.

Holebas at 5.5 and Gueye at 7.5 seem the best enablers - although they have been poor last game.

Defour at 7.5 one to keep an eye on

                  Sterling looking close to essential.

I have no fit subs at the moment, which will become a big problem if any of my XI are rested. Baines has the most money tied up in him, and we still don't really know how serious the hamstring injury was. He could drop multiple times before the deadline.

Thinking four changes for a -8 possibly myself:
      Baines/Cazorla/Puncheon/Ibra > Clyne/Walcott/Lallana/Defoe(or Austin)

-8 might not be so terrible if it means a vast improvement in our teams!

Yeah, I've been trying to take fewer hits this season, after spending 92 points on them last season. But a -8 here would see me over take where I was last season! Apparently I was fairly conservative at the start... I have no fit subs ATM, so if I decide alleviating that and getting Sanchez is worth -8, I'll probably do it.

Depending on how games play out this GW I prefer: Lovren (save £0.6 on Clyne), Walcott (save £3.5 on Sanchez) Austin (save 0.5 on Rashford). However if you can afford both Walcott and Sanchez then go for this combination.

I'm 4th in my league and only 13th place has Sanchez as (c) so that could make up missed points for me!

Morning friends, not about to make the move yet but any thoughts on getting Sanchez in to this lot? Need to find 1.1m assuming it's for Caz!

    Stones Shaw Williams McAuley 4.0

    Antonio Sterling Mane Cazorla Capoue

    Lukaku Aguero Rashford

I feel like swapping for Caz and downgrading Shaw is the only route really, maybe Antonio if he bricks this weekend. Cheers.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Coping with the GWK 8 fixture shift.

Stoke's fixtures start to pick up (SUN, hul, SWA, whm, BOU, wat) and so too do Hull's (bou, STO, wat, SOT, sun, WBA) for those on the look out for cheap fillers. T

Then there's Watford with some nice games on the horizon as well (mid, swa, HUL)

Meanwhile the next six for Man City look like a prime time to double up on their assets (EVE, SOT, wba, MID, cpl, bur)

Liverpool put forward a good case for doubling up with WBA, WAT and SUN over the next six and then there's Arsenal, for more tempting double up options with SWA, MID, sun and BOU over the next six.

Elsewhere, Chelsea, Burnley, West Brom, Middlesbrough, ManU and Southampton's fixtures take a nose dive with Palace's schedule getting shabbier too (lei, LIV, MCI over the next six).

How are you coping with this fixture shift?

Wildcarding? Taking hits? Or looking to double up on the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and City. We can't have them all so which team looks the best for double attack investment?

I've already prepared with a couple of hits to bring in Lallana and Sanchez and looking to say goodbye to Ibrahimovic over the next fixture or two and use his cash for either Sterling or Walcott in midfield.

I think with those fixtures and the top teams form doubling up looks key.

So not like you Jonty to take a -8 hit and before international break. What happens if a player or 2 pick up injuries? Are you worried or do you think it is a season where more hits are justifiable? I thought your team was good tbh.

I took the hits prior to GWK 7 btw not after.

In defence I had Collins, Evans (bad fixtures), Valencia (not looking as good as Blind), Amat and an injured Baines.

In midfield I had a huge Sanchez shaped hole, filled by Ozil - who let's face it is currently the third best Arsenal option.

I've kept the more reliable ones, looked to set myself with some flexibility for GWk 8 and beyond. Currently have a pretty nice squad so can cope with an injury or two over the break and then makes some more moves in GWK 9 to further shore up the team over the next few.

For me keeping Benteke has been key with WHU GWK 8.

Keeping Lukaku for same reason he's ticking over to Gw 10 West Ham who he has a good record against anyway , now taking a free kick or 2 may be worth keeping him if he scores aginst bigger teams to

Your defense was pretty bad I agree. Baines proving to be one of the worst buys. he is just so injury prone. I am surprised you shipped Valencia before the Stoke game. And I don't see Blind as the better option of the 2 especially when Shaw is back. Blind will be back to CB or could be dropped. How did you fund Sanchez though? Sold Ibra as well?

I haven't shipped Valencia. Just saying that I may soon if he continues being overshadowed by others.

Going into the gwk with Ibra AND Sanchez....a differential combination it seems as very few have both.

I think this is perhaps the best time to wildcard looking at the way the fixtures are moving and the value now on offer for the likes of Walcott and Lallana. ManU's tricky fixtures really help Ibra owners out as it makes the decision to part with him much easier.

Having lost in the big derby this season, don't you think Mourinho will want to beat Liverpool (historic rivals) and Chelsea (old team) to make a statement? We all know his ego. They don't have the best defenses. Also Ibra will want to perform in these big matches. What happens if Ibra gets a haul tomorrow?

Not really as my team was even worse then - Ramirez etc.

I think whenever you wildcard there's always another week that crops up that you will think is a better one.

I made an error getting Ozil instead of Sanchez that was the problem. Wildcarding then though was a good idea as we had lots of info by then.

      Arsenal - Sanchez
      Liverpool - Firmino
      Man City - Aguero/Sterling

I could downgrade Benteke with CP fixtures turning but he has WH at home next.

I'm looking at Antonio >> Snodgrass to get a Arsenal defender in.

Already have double City (Sterling and Aguero) and double Arsenal (Sanchez and Theo)

Have Benteke and I'm slightly worried by those fixtures but he always seems to have a goal in him and Palace look good.

Took a hit this week to treble up on Arsenal players this week and also have a double up on Man City in place.

Want to add a Liverpool mid but can only do that with a cheap third striker and right now I'm leaning towards Slimani replacing Costa next GW still leaving me short of cash for that.

I think you can add Bournemouth to the list of teams whose fixtures have turned and may warrant investment

      Would you WC this?

      Foster - Jaku
      Valencia - Stones - Williams - Friend - Amat
      Sanchez - Sterling - Walcott - Antonio - Capoue
      Aguero - Costa - Rondon

I am going to swap Rondon this week for one of Defoe/Deeney/Rashford/Austin, and unless it's one of the latter 2, will take a hit for Valencia --> Lovren to fund it.

Players I want are Son or Lallana (but Antonio could match them). Maybe Lukaku for Costa. Defense is fine, but GK situation is bad with Foster's fixtures now bad

had snodgrass since season stared so see how he goes upto huge 9 if he is bring in points , Antonio has great home games but will look to get in second Ars mid or if wait will be Liverpool one, boring Milner maybe an option as on pens

also looking at Dawson if he's back for hull as a cheap def

I wonder is a five man mid and a 4.5 / 6 mill striker a better option now

My defence isn't looking too good after this week, so may do some swapping there. The lack of clean sheets has meant it hasn't been a priority.

Then after United play away at pool and city will do Rashford back to Zlatan and Payet to whatever 7.5ish mid looks best value then.

I'll be looking to shift Ibra out, bring in Lukaku on a free transfer. I may well also sell Antonio to bring in Snodgrass, but a more pressing concern is defence - I quite fancy Arsenal and Liverpool to start keeping clean sheets so Stones and Azpilicueta may be jettisoned. I certainly don't mind taking a points hit to get them in early.

As with everything, the international break is key. Injuries could throw my plans into disarray.

Why are many people getting rid of Antonio? West ham still have decent fixtures and goal scoring hasn't been much of a problem for them.

I think it's because West Ham were so bad last week. Hopefully he's back in the points this week

Someone has to make way for them to fix their trash defences.. Antonio fits the bill ahead of the likes of Sanchez and City or Liv midfield options

Better options to replace him maybe in the names of Lallana and Walcott

      Indeed.
Tho what I find funny is so many people diving into Lpool & Stoke for that period.
L'pool who have equal chance of a CS in the next 6 gw as they did in the first 6. - Total 0.00 so far
Stoke who have a very inverted CS record so their 'good' fixtures are the ones they DONT get clean sheets in.

Wanting to offload Costa soon, maybe very soon if he gets booked today, but it's annoying that Arsenal/Liverpool don't have any classified strikers worth getting. Might have to reshuffle so that I can play 3-5-2 and upgrade Capoue to a Liverpool mid.

On Oct. 25th. And he is away to West Ham. There's like 4 PL gameweeks between then -- On the bright side, he might serve his suspension then?

    Heaton Pickford
    Baines McAuley holebas kone wilson
Sanchez firmino Antonio capoue DE roon
    Ibra Kaku kun

    Baines-> arsenal defense

Yes to the Baines>ARS defender move. I'd hold off on Antonio -- at least see how he does this GW and reevaluate.
