The Stock Check – Gameweek 25 – Monday

Raheem Sterling displays his improved consistency by bagging the opener in City’s win at Bournemouth. The Gabriel Jesus bandwagon comes to a halt prior to blank Gameweek 26 as he limps off early with a foot injury.Meanwhile, Junior Stanislas’ tumble down the Bournemouth pecking order continues as he’s benched for the second successive Gameweek. Here’s the Stock Check following Monday’s Gameweek 26 finale…

On the Rise

Raheem Sterling
Having started the last ten Gameweeks, Sterling has now returned two goals and eight assists over that spell; he could have had a ninth had substitute Sergio Aguero managed to divert his initial touch to the winger’s cross on target.

That outstanding run of form has unfortunately coincided with the emergence of Gabriel Jesus and the doubts surrounding City’s missing fixtures.

Once we’re beyond Gameweek 28, Sterling will surely enjoy greater interest having delivered so consistently. However, it should be noted that City face Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in their three matches to follow the potential Gameweek 28 blank.

Leroy Sane
On the opposite flank, Sane also sparkled against the Cherries.

He’s now started the last four Gameweeks and has delivered a goal and two assists in that spell – like Sterling, he was unfortunate not to find further profit from Monday’s encounter having struck the bar.

However, priced at 7.5 to Sterling 7.8, it’s unlikely that he will enter into the equation as more than a differential.

In Decline

Gabriel Jesus
Missing Gameweek 26 and, in all probability, also set to sit out Gameweek 28 should City progress to the FA Cup Quarter Finals, Jesus picked up a foot injury at the Vitality Stadium to compound matters.

Handed his third successive start by Pep Guardiola, the young Brazilian suffered an apparent foot injury challenging for a cross and, despite his best efforts, was forced to limp off after just 15 minutes.

Guardiola confirmed post-match that Jesus would be assessed, but offered little more than that by way of a prognosis.

Brought in by more than 210,00 ahead of Monday’s outing, his owners will at least have the comfort that they were forced to go into the next Gameweek benching or selling the striker.

The will now wait on the verdict from City, in the hope that it puts no doubt over Jesus’ starting role for the Gameweek 27 fixture away at Sunderland.

Opportunity may just knock for Sergio Aguero.

Junior Stanislas
Benched at Goodison Park in Gameweek 24, the winger suffered the same fate in Monday’s encounter as Eddie Howe opted to hand Jordan Ibe a first start in three months.

It was felt that Stanislas missed out at Everton due to a shift in formation but, on the evidence of Monday’s teamsheet, he now faces a battle to reinstate himself in the starting XI – an unwelcome development for his 133,000 owners who were looking to him to help cover the Gameweek 28 blanks.

The fact that Marc Pugh was introduced as Ibe’s replacement with 15 minutes to go offers further indication of Stanislas’ rank in the current pecking order.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A few things mods (mark) if you are still here.

Did you manage to mention the issue regarding having the total goals and assists totals in the history section rather than having to count manually.

How about for next year with pricr changes free any transfer activity until the gw is over? Surely will help with price changes being so erratic.

I actually just made a list of some posts on previous page but it got bottomed. I doubt it will be changed this year but be good to get thoughts across for next season.

      Anything I missed?

      Bring back forum
      Bring back notes section
Change how blank gameweeks are displayed on the fixture list
Overall tally of goals, clean sheets and assists in history (including for the season we're currently in)
Ability to split mini leagues into quarters and not just overall

Bring back the 'game statistics' - the bit under each result where you can see everyone who played (not just the top 5 BPS players).

I think if the transfers were frozen until after each round it would take away from the game. A lot of gambling with early transfers. Why take that option away from players.

Same rules for everyone. Sometimes they work in ones favour and sometimes not.

But no need to be screeming for change when something goes horribly wrong. It is going to happen time and time again.

Just need to learn to suck it up.

It all adds to the fun of the game!

Why is Lukaku flagged when the club have issued an official statement saying that he'll be fit for Sunderland?

Maybe so but it's still them playing God with the game, you can't get any clearer than an official statement declaring him fit and not a doubt (which is how they justified other flags) yet they still flag him.

Remember flags are for doubts. The club says he has an injury but also that he will be fit. So its an injury that isn't an injury? Very confusing. And it is in that confusion that doubt emerges...with local journalists now asking whether he'll be fit - which will be Koeman's first press conf question next week.

FFS doesn't flag players, FPL does.

The system hasn't every changed from what it looks like. Club raises injury report - player gets flagged - that's been going on since I first started playing when Henry and Ronaldo were the must haves.

The R Yorks presenter I chat to each week is a Huddersfield fan. They are doing great things but it would be unfair if they unseat either of our teams.

Trouble is Btn are very familiar with this position and know that a team that falls into the play offs tends to do much worse than a team that moves up into it. Last season against Sheff Wed our team just fell part in the play offs - injuries and ill discipline abound. By the second leg we just had nothing left to throw at them.

Will have a look, get that flags are for doubts but the club has stated there is no doubt so there's no need to interpret what they say any other way, fully understand the flagging for doubts before pressers can happen but in this case, the club have already cleared it up.

'The club says he has an injury but also that he will be fit. So its an injury that isn't an injury? Very confusing.'

He has a minor injury that is preventing him from going to a training camp in Dubai - what is confusing about that?

Why would FPL managers care if he is available for a training camp or not? As it stands, he is not a doubt for GW26.

I've decided on B cause i want to keep Sanchez,
Likely to lose more value but Sanchez is much more explosive than Ibra, fixture proof, will probably score more points against liv than Ibra will against bour on current form and Costa will match Ibra for points whereas Hazard won't match Sanchez.

disagree that sanchez will outscore ibra at home to Bournemouth, but fair enough. If you have lots of value tied up in sanchez then worth keeping and benching. I don't so am selling sanchez to haz and benching ibra (then captaining him next week)

Ibra has only scored more than one goal at home once this season and that was in gw2, sanchez has scored 2 or more 3 times away and another 2 times at home.

Is it worth hitting -4 this GW and next GW to try and squeeze out 7-8 players for GW28?

It's a calculated risk really, the last thing you want to do is go -4 for a player that plays GW28 and he only scores 2pts.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

Welcoming Oumar Niasse into my team, a 5.6 steal! Great fixtures and tempted to play him ahead of Siggy, GW26. Even if he has the big-game form, the absolute maximum limit is surely one goal or assist.

A goal machine who has led defenses across the country into a false sense of security, and now is ready to strike!

Of the teams confirmed to play in GW28 the only players i'd take a hit for would be Lukaku, Siggy and maybe Coleman/Baines.

Wait and see what happens in the FA cup.

0.3 tied up in Sanchez, switch to Hazard for this GW or play 10?
Would be difficult to get back in...

    Jakupovic
    Azpil, Chambers, Holgate,
    Alli, Siggy, Zaha, Davies, Sanchez*
    Costa (C), Kane (VC)

realistically I am looking at 9 playing as Holgate probably will not play...

I have 4 players which dont play next GW so should i do my transfers now or after FA-cup games?

    Foster, Jaku
    Coleman, McAuley, Pieters, AMAT, VALENCIA
    Snodgrass, Sigurdson, Phillips, Stanislas, SANCHEZ
    Lukaku, IBRA, AGUERO

    Im thinking Amat & Aguero ---> Robertson/Maguire & Costa -4?

GW 28 is near, but even if i take Costa now i can still easily get 11 playesr for that GW 28.

Am I the only here to consider that on City's second goal, the touch from Aguero was going directly into the net? The goal should be atributed to Aguero and the assist to Sterling in my opinion. What are your thoughts?

DGP no longer exists - the goals are reviewed immediately after the matches I believe.

Ah, you're part right, it exists but is done a heck of a lot quicker lol

The match centre also features the famous goal accreditation panel. That means the process of deciding the ultimate scorer of a strike has been streamlined.
If the identity of a goalscorer is up for debate, a three-man panel - usually consisting of a PGMOL representative and two football experts - reviews the strike.
That decision is then passed onto Opta and the Premier League's digital outlets.

Yep, and it's the outcome of this process that FPL use to determine goalscorers. (Which means the whole McAuley thing is absolutely nothing to do with FPL however much people whinge about it!)

It's good to know too that it wasn't Opta making the final decision but the panel. Cheers for that.

I remember 3 years ago, with Luiz Suarez, they reviewed the decision and atributted to him an assist 1 or 2 weeks after the gameweek (PL paused on those weeks to be played Cup League)

Looked from the reverse angle that it was probably going wide, but the rule of thumb should be that if there is any doubt at all, the goal should go to the striker.

Not sure if this is taken into account but from what I remember of seeing it last night there wasn't anywhere near enough pace on it from the Aguero touch - the defenders would have likely covered it anyway so that's probably more so why it went to Mings

    6. Ramboros
      • 12 Years

For me it's a goal to the attacking player until you can clearly see that the ball wouldn't have gone in without interference from a defender. Should have stood as a Kun goal for that reason, but it hardly matters.

Planning on -4 for the following...
    Opinions very much welcome.

    Ibra >
    A)Negredo
    B)Gabbiadini
    C) Other £6.5 or less

    Alli >
    1) Hazard
    2) Pedro (allows for 3.3 more for Ibra sub)

    > Mane
    X) Phillips
    Y) Stanislas (Means it has to be Pedro for Alli)

Leaves me with a playing 11 for GW26 of...
    Courtous (Jaku)
    Baines, McAuley, Pieters (Olsson, Amat)
Hazard/Pedro, Mane, Stanislas/Phillips, de Roon (Sanchez)
    Lukaku, Kane, Negredo/Gabbiadini

Seems to me like there is too much happening.

I think Alli is worth holding especially now that he has 2 home games coming up.

The following is also worth considering:

Sanchez Stanislas > Mane / Pedro

      Leaves:

      Courtois
      Baines McAuley Pieters
      Alli Mane Pedro Philips
      Lukaku Kane

      Jaku: Ibra Olsson Amat.

Only concern I see is the defence then week.

The above team is good for 2 weeks and allows Ibra to come off the bench for you in GW26.

        Nice mate. Thanks for that.

          Like it 2.

I sold alli to siggy last week otherwise I have the same mid.

I would like to see another defender maybe for amat.

Someone like Brunt or Reid to cover the blank GW28.

          Something to keep in mind.

          Also pedro or hazard!

I dont think there is much beyween them. Pedro has found his feet and nice to see the overall leader of the league choose pedro over hazard last week despite having the funds for hazard. That speaks for itself..

There is also a slight eisk with the sanchez - mane move.

If Leicester manage to only draw with Millwall in their cup game next weekend the Leicester vs Liverpool premiership match scheduled for GW26 WILL be postponed.

So long as you know that risk is there before you pull the trigger.

              I have already gambled.

9/4 on them drawing (Skybet) - most likely draw out of all the FA Cup games according to that.

Could wait and just suck it up that I'll pay for the inevitable price rise of Mane and falls of Stanislas and Sanchez.

    Should I do:

    A) Friend/Cedric ➡ Maguire

    or

    B) Ibra ➡ Costa

1 FT and I can already field 11 players this week (assuming Friend will be fit).

What's happening with Stanislas currently? Any chance of a return to the XI or is he now no longer an option?

There's always a chance, but he's always been a squad player. Personally I don't like the risk

I did B. 100% sure I'd want Sanchez back, Ibra not so sure.

that has to be the worst set of 5th round FA Cup fixtures in recent memory, and not even 6 nations on to ease the pain
