Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Bournemouth

Just a few weeks ago, today’s opening fixture at Old Trafford would have been the main attraction, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic the sole focus of our attention.

But rivals City and Sergio Aguero now dominate Gameweek 27 – our thoughts already running ahead to Sunday’s encounter with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

For now, we need to concentrate on Saturday’s events with Ibrahimovic still capable of making a major impact on our weekend.

Again the most popular captain pick and surely skippered by the majority of those who have ignored Aguero, his owners will be willing the Swede to translate recent cup form – six goals in four outings – back to the league.

A goal and an assist in his last four Gameweeks is a modest return by Ibrahimovic’s standards but, in Bournemouth, he now faces an ideal opponent.

The Cherries arrive at without their captain Simon Francis, having failed to stem a relentless tide of goals. Without a clean sheet since Gameweek 19, Eddie Howe’s side have conceded 20 in the seven matches since.

The scene is set for Ibrahimovic to deliver a big return to kick-start Gameweek 27, as Fantasy Premier League managers begin the chase for a three-digit tally.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

100 pts behind in 2 separate ML's, the leaders in both haven't bought in any City players and are going to have poor GW28 teams, next two GW's could be huge.

    GW 28

    Jaku
    Coleman Brunt Smith Lovren*
    Siggy Mane Phillips*
    Lukaku Rondon

    Grant, Hazard, Alonso (Allen, Aguero)

    1FT 1.1 ITB

Keeping Hazard and Alonso because CHE fixtures is good after the blank, meanwhile Allen and Aguero fixtures are horrible.

    A. Allen -> 6.0 (King or Snod for me)
    B. Aguero -> 13.8 (Llorente or Carroll for me)

I'm not considering GW29 because I can go either way,
if I go A, I'll transfer Kun prob for Kane on 29,
if I go B, Ill transfer Rondon prob for Kane on 29.

So my focus is getting the most point on 28

Not sure what you're getting at - Aguero in a DGW with Sunderland and Stoke would have been a top transfer for most in any season. What do you expect - he's possibly the most explosive, free scoring asset in the history of FPL.

It's not notifying, it's producing content about FPL and this, week, you can't do that without talking about Aguero.

You'd rather continue to play a game where half the player base are in the dark?

Of course, we all debate and research far more than the level of information included in the FPL content. That's the point of this site and others about.

The difference is, we have to accept that the Premier League aren't going to allow half their FPL users to be unaware of blanks and DGW's, or that captaining Aguero is a good idea.

not sure what you're on about.
only 4.8% have played TC this GW.
Ibra is the most popular overall (c) - Kun only 15.8% (c).
This site doesn't reflect the game as a whole - and seems to have a lot of people who have been playing for years and so are probably making their own decisions.
Realistically there are only a few decent TC options over a season if you accept that DGW and TC should go together (shouldn't need a website to tell you that anyway).

Yeah, and 377928 brought in Aguero this week, compared with 366258 who brought in Mane last week - that's less than 10% of the overall player base and probably just over 20-25% of the active players. Of the top 100, only 51 have even captained Aguero, let alone TC'd him.

There's a massive split between those backing Aguero and those not. Hardly boring - Sunday and Wednesday will be fascinating for Aguero backers and non-backers.

Yeah you can't use you're MLs as a tiny sample to represent the whole player base. I'm one of the few in my MLs that have TC aguero.

I think posting on an FPL tips style website saying official FPL give out too many tips is ridiculous. People choose how 'active' a player they want to be and at the end of the day it's a game where we all ultimately make our own decisions.

It's a game for everyone. Only 3 in my main ML brought Aguero in, so I suggest that just because FPL decide to give everyone advice doesn't mean everyone watches it.

No such thing as "casuals" these days. Most of my ML clearly use this site.

It means there's a level playing field, but it is annoying at times when independently you think you've found a good pick/strategy and someone else on here thinks it as well and suddenly it snowballs and everyone is doing it.

While I have no problem letting them know of blanks, not to WC before the blank, giving them stats/differentials and at a stretch TC'ing Aguero, I thought it was appalling that they did a feature which explicitly listed "Essential players" for GW 28. It said Lukaku, Coleman, Siggy, Liverpool mid, Hull def etc. are musts. The Hull defender had two options in Maguire and Robertson. That is not fair I think. There have been tons of debates here on the best Hull defender but the feature basically told people to only transfer in the listed 7-8 players. You cannot take decision making out of a players hands. This is just encouraging a template and how are people to make up ground if there is a template on such a large scale now?

I agree. The information on here is a collection of opinions. The FPL site is clearly making the decisions for players. It's not even a game. Log in, oh what does the scout say: I need Coleman, Siggy and Lukaku, done. Logs off. The info is far too direct. Where are they aiming to take this next season? Are they going to do you're jobs for you and scout incoming players and give us fixture difficulty articles and set up a forum for all the players.

The thing is it's everywhere....look at this from Friday...

              http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/fantasy-football-scout-tips-gameweek-27-a7609436.html

              http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/593204/Fantasy-Football-Scout-Tips-Premier-League-Gameweek-27-double-sportgalleries

Neither of those articles were supplied by us - they've been passed off as our content but by using our name, again, they provide FPL tips. As you can imagine, I find that very frustrating but what can be done?

if the Premier League commission an article - "The top 6 players for GW28" - how can that be stopped? They just hire a writer to come here and on other sites, read the material and write the article. Then use their social media to push it.

And, as you see above, everyone is at it so you can't blame the Premier League when it's their game and they're seeing others farm the traffic.

It's also frustrating for me given that we were among the first to be writing articles on FPL of this nature, but I had to make the decision to get involved, or watch why they hired others to read the sites and write the articles.

I don't see a solution - FPL is huge, others are jumping on the tips/article bandwagon all the time and the Premier League aren't going to sit back and not do it themselves.

Can you not ask the websites not to indirectly use the site name? Most fpl players are aware of FFS, so reading that headline suggests to some degree that it came from here.

We can try but I doubt we can do much about it.

The point is, this "spoon feeding" is everywhere. Everyone has caught on that folk want tips articles and so everyone is doing it, bit by bit. It's grown every season and will continue to do so.

If the Premier League weren't doing more themselves, then it would be done elsewhere by someone else like the papers above.

It's not difficult to commission a writer, who can read some stuff here or on other sites and then write an article telling folk to triple captain Aguero. Nobody can stop that. I imagine very football site in the land is thinking - how can we get some traffic from those four million FPL managers?

FPL knowledge is not exclusive to us here, or anyone - it's got less exclusive by the season and that will go on being the case.

It's how you take that knowledge, expand on it and use it to guide your decisions that remains exclusive.

I still believe the best and most successful FPL managers will be among the visitors to this site and other great FPL sites/communities who have and still go well beyond the FPL's own and press content.

I have to believe that, or I'd stop writing articles on Sunday morning, walk away and start spending more time with the family 😉

People need to stop being cry babies, that's life, you just up your game and worry less about everyone else. Simoly find a better way to win, competition is now steeper. If you are good, you are good regardless of information and spoon feeding.

        Rough stats..
4 out of top 10 went Aguero TC.
Very many went sterling C, non Aguero users.
        One wildcard too.
Seems like about 50% in the top went FFS way of playing the game..
No Zlatan owner in top 10.
