Double Gameweek 34 Confirmed

Earlier this morning, the Premier League kindly helped to relieve the monotony brought on by another international break by confirming the rescheduling of a number of fixtures that were previously postponed due to FA Cup ties.

The following matches have now been moved into Gameweek 34:

Chelsea v Southampton
Arsenal v Leicester
Crystal Palace v Spurs
Middlesbrough v Sunderland
Manchester City v Manchester United

As a result, we now have three teams set to play twice in Gameweek 34 – Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Manchester United.

Palace hardly have the most appealing pair of fixtures – Big Sam’s will now travel to Liverpool before hosting Spurs.

Middlesbrough face two vital relegation clashes, with a trip to Bournemouth preceding their home encounter with Sunderland.

Man United, meanwhile, will hit the road twice – making their way to Burnley before rolling up to neighbours City on Thursday April 27 in the final match of Gameweek 34.

As a result of this rescheduling, those holding West Bromwich Albion players should be aware that the Baggies are the only team that will face a blank in Gameweek 34.

The Premier League have also revealed that the remaining postponed fixtures will be confirmed “on or around Friday, April 7”, which is just prior to the weekend of Gameweek 32.

At present, there are six matches yet to be afforded a new date:

Arsenal v Sunderland
Chelsea v Watford
Leicester v Spurs
Man City v West Brom
Southampton v Arsenal
Southampton v Man United

We’ll go into more detail on the knock-on effect of today’s news in future “Scouting the Doubles” fixtures nearer the time but, for now, this is just a heads-up.

    Pretty uninspiring DGWs in 34.

Are there any more games that can be announced for that week or is that it now except for GW37 and one Arsenal fixture?

Might actually start looking at a GW36 wildcard again....

Between now and GW34 I can probably get in the players I want with a few hits.

It's likely to be 35 or 36 right? So these are the triple captain options left?

        Ibra v Man City (a) / Burnley (a)
        Sanchez v Southampton (a) / Spurs (a) or Man Utd (h)

Also same - 5 free transfers between now and then can easily give you Valdes Ibra Valencia and anyone else worth having, leaving potentially a few more for Southampton and Arsenal players after

Not a set of DGW's that promise huge hauls, however, initial thoughts on players would be:

MNU: Valencia, Ibra, DDG. All fairly nailed and have scored well in FPL this season. Would avoid the midfield and other defenders as its a nightmare of rotation, and they are all very inconsistent anyway.

PAL: Sakho, Van Aanholt, Zaha. Sakho a bonus point magnet and van aanholt has attacking threat. However, with those fixtures id say clean sheets are unlikely, so maybe just van aanholt (if fit by then). Zaha is cheap enough to be worth a 1 week punt I'd have thought?

MID: They just don't score goals, so I'd be reluctant to go near their midfield or attack. Of course with a new manager this may change over the next few weeks! If they do find some scoring form then Ramirez or Negredo might be ok, but I'm not very inspired at this point. In defence its a bit more promising, any of their regular starters in defence would be worth investing in and are affordable, Gibson seems most nailed at this point but there may be cheap options after others return from injury

In summary, at this early stage I personally would invest in:

Valencia, Ibra, Van Aanholt, Zaha, Gibson

I think wildcarding for this set of doubles would be unnecessary. I think a more wise strategy would be to save 2 free transfers for the gw, then bring in 3 double gameweekers for a -4. What do others think?

Parent club for Sahko so could be goals. Palace vs Pool is normally a goal fest and Palace have a decent record.

          Nah, don't see it.

Might bring in Zaha if I have one FT left before GW34 but knowing me I doubt this will be the case.

Two difficult away games for United, two difficult games for Palace - don't think taking a hit for any of them, even Zlatan, will be worth it.

          And Boro is Boro.

That DGW34 is not interesting at all

Was just about to do a hot topic on this...so thought I'd hulk up yours instead...Really good initial summary and echo those views too.

Its a horrible DGWK with Only Ibram, Valencia appealing. Will take a punt on a palace or manU mid maybe as well but really don't want to have their players long term.

Hulking much appreciated Jonty, my first on the site, delighted to help the community 🙂

Agreed, its possibly, at this early stage at least, the least attractive set of double gameweek fixtures I can remember! Even Ibra is very hot and cold this season, for his price, although if you get him in for this its an easy switch out to Kane (if he's back by then).

Sunderland don't have a double in 34 though do they? Or are you saying playing Middlesbrough once would be fruitful (which it might well be!!)

I think I would be not loading up too much, other SGW players have good fixtures

so for me Mid GK, MID def, Valencia and Ibra

then only left with 2 players to move out and can deal with via subs if required until

I know DDG has another double so may still be considered

I've had a look at the other fixtures that week for the popular mids and forwards:
Alli/Eriksen/Kane (if fit) - Palace away
      Sanchez - Leicester home
      Siggy - Stoke home
      King - Boro home
      Lukaku - West Ham away
      Hazard/Costa/Pedro - Southampton home

I'm not sure you would want to transfer/bench any of those for a Palace/Boro mid bar maybe King. Plus you want most of those above for the other double game weeks. So you're looking at King + 4 versus Zaha probably.

Think I would rather bring in PVA and Gibson for bench fodder defenders in terms of investing.

Well, that's wildcard decided in 36, ready for 37 right? Five free transfers between now and 34 will be plenty for this I think. Thinking maybe 2 Middlesbrough, 3 Man United..? Boro have decent fixtures between now and then too (though Man City at home in GW 35...)

Feel a bit uneasy about my season basically coming down to what will be a bit of a dice roll bumper DGW in 37, when the title will be wrapped up and half the teams' seasons will be over

Smooth 89 for me and highest gwk rank of the season. Alli in for Coutinho....went for him as he looked really up for scoring in interviews post Kane injury - had no idea he's extend that to pens too - so nice bonus there.

9/11 gave returns - even Charlie Daniels in his testimonial for me.

Did same move and happy I don't have to worry about Phil now post IB either. I think he looked the least threatening of the Pool mids again.

so Smooth = Solid 76pts and up to 5k odd rank.

Surely you can't complain about Valencia? Had they not conceded, he would have very likely not scored. So you ultimately gained 2 points from the "brain fade".

I can moan about anything I like mate. 🙂

The two incidents were not related in any way either. So your "2 points gained" is nonsense mathematics.

Haha, yes, of course you can complain, that's the reason for the hot topic. However, basic "butterfly effect" theory means that the second event would not have happened without the first.

All in all: smooth. While my AOA chip didn't yield a wealth of results, I wouldn't have done better not using it. My DEF of Pickford, Alonso, Coleman yielded 22 and Lukaku (C), Kun and King brought offensive returns.

80 pts for the week, which is also my ML lead, moved into Top 20k and most importantly, saved my FT which should be helpful ahead of GW30.

Smooth; Lukaku (c), didn't sell Firmino.

Rough; Costa in for Ibra didn't yield much but at least he didn't get sent off! Other option was Gabbi and he got injured so actually as much smooth as rough!

Brought in Alli and played AOA - a 9 point gain from choosing that move instead of the other alternative I had considered of taking Carroll out for Costa.

Only real rough was Mane bringing in just 1 point to now have got me only 3 points in 2 weeks since I brought him in.

Very smooth week for myself. Took a -4 to bring in King/Sanchez and removed Snod/T.Carroll, decided to bench Kane and play Carroll in a 3-5-2 rather than take a hit for Costa which paid off, scored 28 points from defence/GK resulting in 87 point overall, my highest GW rank of the reason and up to 12k OR - my highest ever ranking.

First impression for those with all chips left:

Up to GW32, get in Man U
        GW33, get in Palace
        GW34, get in Boro
        TC Ibra in GW34

        Then,

If Southampton v Arsenal is GW35:
WC GW35 with lots of Arsenal and Southampton, fill rest with GW37 DGWers

If Southampton v Arsenal is GW36:
WC GW35 or GW36 with lots of Arsenal and Southampton, fill rest with GW37 DGWers

        BB GW37

Why would anyone want Palace? Have you learnt nothing in these part years? Boro is a bit iffy too...

Who cares, if they have 2 games? They're more than worth getting as long as you aren't sacrificing a single GW player with a good fixture. We saw Stoke keep 2 unexpected clean sheets in the last one. Depending on when you WC, you can get rid of them straight after.

Zaha for Leicester at home followed by a DGW doesn't sound tempting?

I don't really like to WC in Arsenal and Southampton players in GW35. Arsenal have Man Utd in GW36. Southampton have Liverpool away. Chelsea play Everton away in GW35 and Tottenham play Arsenal at home. Man Utd is the most solid bet for GW35, but I think they have the worst value out of the top teams with those fixtures. If I WC in GW35 I'd have to keep United players. When I WC in GW36 I can get rid of all of them. We can't forget about the good Crystal Palace fixture in GW35 either. If I WC in GW35 all hits taken in GW34 feels a bit wasted if I am going to WC out all those players.

In the midst of everything it's also important to remember that value is very important for composing a good BB GW37. Arsenal, United, Spurs, City, Chelsea and Leicester are the most expensive teams in the game. Watford, Southampton, WBA and Sunderland offer some decent options, but the fixtures aren't great for any of those teams. Ibra and Sanchez could make BB difficult to pull off.

Arsenal and Southampton both have a decent run of fixtures until GW35. It's in my eyes better to do some long term planning from now on in case we do get DGW35. It's likely you will have at least two players from Arsenal and Southampton by GW35 whether they have a DGW35 or not. Sanchez and Gabbiadini are difficult to pass on. Why WC a week earlier when you already have the two players you'd want the most?

Thoughts on Lukaku to Vardy just for the next two?

Lukaku has liv (a) and mun (a). Vardy has STK (H) and SUN (H), much better fixtures.

          Then swap back afterwards.

All these rearranged games are closer to the start of 35 than the start of 34. Why are they part of 34? Would have made slightly kinder fixtures all round if it was a 35 DGW.
