FFS Cup

The Scout Cups Reminder

With 13 days remaining until domestic action resumes, we thought we’d remind you of the two Fantasy Football Scout cups that are still open to enter.

As mentioned last week, we have launched our 14th open-to-all tournament, along with a tenth Members competition.

We are offering up £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Non-members can sign up to the open tournament here.

Our members can sign up to both tournaments, via entry forms here and here.

Timetable

The qualifying round for both Cups was Gameweek 29, with the first round running in Gameweek 30.

It’s not too late to get involved, though, if you haven’t done so already.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 27 – ie, a week today – when we’ll stop entry and make the first round draws shortly after.

The first round will consist of 512 teams and, as usual, all the previous winners who enter will gain a bye into the first round draw, where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 29.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames to gain their bye.

Both these cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

FFS Cups Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline. The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 27.

Double Boro or double United defense for DGW 34?

I've been trawling through the player form stats searching for a glimmer of a left-field choice for the run-in.
I have to say I'm not overly inspired and with Arsenal. ManU & Southampton with an extra fixture I was hoping for someone amongst that trio and barring Redmond, Tadic & maybe JWP I've not been inspired.
Any lurking blind side choices on your wish/watch list?

I don't know if this counts but I'm looking at Borini. At 5.1 he's a good enabler for BB 37 and easily benchable in a 3-5-2 other weeks. Seems to be nailed and could pop up with a goal. Defoe is obviously the best Sunderland option but that 2.7m could make a big difference in the rest of your team.

Without Defoe I'd only be tempted Pickford and a defender

Could be, I've had Defoe since GW7 and I'm concerned about Sunderland scoring. I may stick with him but Borini doesn't appeal much.
Long might be a shout at 6.1m regardless of whether your getting a Saints midfielder, just see more goals.
All said and done Borini has performed before in the relegation run-in for Sunderland so I wouldn't totally rule him out.

At 7.3m he's hard to resist, just want to see Arsenal playing like a team again but worth a punt.

Not really. I'm looking at JWP too.

Too much rotation in United midfield.

If people are planning on using BB before 37 to maximise TC in 37 wouldn't the Arsenal Southampton doubles be better for BB as their better fixtures and teams compared to 34

Who to captain out of Alli, Mane, Siggy, Alonso or Valencia? Never would normally captain a defender but slim pickings this week

    1. Sweetboi
      • 8 Years

Never a defender imo. Alli has Burnley who are very solid at home. Mane's a beast at home and Liverpool are up for the big games, so him imo.

As another Shakespeare used to say
    There the rub

If holding WC til say 35 how do you get the players you want between now and for the dgw 34 without destroying you tv which will be critical for all the big hitters required for BB in 37.

I just cant justify losing value on Sanchez or Mane with decent fixtures from now until 34 and including 34 to fund Ibra. I can find Ibra with 6 upfront and two fodder. Seems pointless.
Anyone saying nay to Ibra for 34?

I could lose Lukaku too but dont see that happening either. The utd 34 fixtures are just too bad.

34 isn't a great DGW, not many options. Don't destroy your team over it. Valencia, Ibra, Boro defender and maybe a United mid or Palace punt.

Lukaku > Ibra 34 looks decent tbh. Keep Lukaku for those nice fixtures in 32/33.

Thoughts on my team for gw 30. 1ft & 0.6itb

    Foster (Valdes)
    Walker, Alonso, Jones (Coleman, Pieters)
    Sanchez, Mane, Siggy, Antonio (King)
    Costa (c), Lukaku, Llorente

I would like to get Alli in but all my midfielders have good fixtures. Sanchez & Mane are locked. Siggy (midd h), Antonio (hull a), King (soton a). Fair enough after soton King is probably a sell but with only 0.6itb it's not enough to move to Alli. I'm actually thinking of selling Foster but to who. Or should I just save my ft. As you can tell I'm pretty confused. Thoughts & thanks.

Antonio is injured. Out for a few weeks most likely this might let you get Alli for a hit as not enough ITB I think. Not sure when Antonio is back but out of England squad.

    Pickford (Foster*)
    Alonso Walker Coleman (Baines* Brunt*)
Firmino Coutinho Siggy King* (De Roon)
    Lukaku Llorente Defoe*

Fixture wise my team is brilliant and would not want to change any of the core players.
My team value is 105.3 which is average but my sell value is pathetic at 102.8. With that sell value i cannot (i have tried) have a decent bench for GW37.... Kone Yoshida JWP/king the best i could come u with.
'This got me thinking of BB34.

    GW30 ----> baines to valencia
    GW31 ----> king to alli
    GW32 ----> defoe to ibra
    GW33 ----> Save FT
GW34 ----> brunt and foster to valdez and mid defence (could have a punt on someone else for llorente as well for -4)

and then proceed the way majority of the people are going on here

As we have seen with the TC chip it is a gamble and so is the BB but it could be a good differential as well.

Now i know Mid are crap but then their fixtures are brilliant for the DGW when compared to the 37 ones....

My point is if you have both TC and BB chips available the use of TC will depend on the Arsenal DGW.

I blew my TC on Kun the idiot. I think either of Ibra or Alexis will outscore that gw27 haul easily. So whoever still has the TC can easily get a good haul.

To simplify if you have both the chips and we get DGWs in 34,35 and 37 you have lot of flexibility.

Personally I would use TC in one of 34 or 35 and BB in 37 just to protect my rank in 37 and to avoid confusion over who to TC in 37.

i think Kun was the right decision.... It just didnt pan out.... Sanchez has the same fixtures now in 37..... If i had all the chips it would be BB34 WCsotars game TC37

This idea has been the subject of debate. If you can't really field great bench players in DGW37, could be a good shout. Fill up your bench with Mid and CRY DGW34 players, most of which you would only want on your bench anyway, bring in Ibra and Valencia and use your bench boost. Allows you to keep your good single week players while taking a punt on the DGW teams via your bench players.

Another option would be to use it when Arsenal/SOU have their double game week. But if you are struggling with SV, that may not work for you.

If you have a good TV/SV and plan on fielding 15 DGW players while avoiding any real cheapo/fodder type picks. DGW37 is still probably the best time to use the BB for this case.

thats the best summary i have read so far.... so looking at the team above should i go for the BB in 34?

Obviously your call, but it could work, especially since you still have your WC up your sleeve. I.e you can maximise your starting 11 for the run in using your WC and have fodder on the bench for the most part so you can have as many good players for DGW37 as possible.

Having not qualified for the cup either, there is nothing much left to play for other than OR. So please help me with your " differential " suggestions to help me gain rankings? Cheers in advance.

    1. Holmes
      • 10 Years

      - Having all template players is a good differential in itself
      - You can try some double ups in midfield like Alli-Eriksen, Lanzini-Ayew, Mane-Firmino or something like that. They do have high individual ownership but probably going to have low combined ownership.
      - Dont take unnecessary risks when there are obvious picks available.
      - Defense is where you can try some differentials. Ceiling is low but can help to gain ranks if and when they do well. Someone like Bertrand, Rose or Mustafi can do well in coming weeks. Even Mawson looks like he'll score 2-3 more goals before season ends.
      - Try to optimise hits. Save FTs whenever possible.

        Sound strategy.
With regards to optimising hits, I find it is always less painful if the hit is for a player you will captain.

If I decide to use my BB for DGW34 or whenever the ARS/SOU game is, then I have tossed around having a front 7 of, Sanchez, Alli, Sterling, Pedro, Kane, Ibra, Lukaku. So even then, I can't get Haz or Kun. definitely going to be some tough choices !

Of course, nothing ever goes to plan, so will have to see where I am at the time.

        FPL
        Sky
        Sportsdeck
        Draft team

At the beginning of the season I had to write myself a list and check them off to make sure I did them on a Friday night. As the season went on I am doing fairly badly in 3 of them so have devoted less effort to them as a result.

I just want to win my H2H league which is very tight in FPL any decent rank is beyond me now.

If Sanchez is hurt and will miss more than a week then maybe. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it this week. You've got Eriksen already and Spurs play at Burnley, which may not yield many goals anyway. Maybe swap Mane for Alli after Liverpool play Bournemouth in GW31. Of course, if you have a spurs defender, you'll want to keep an eye on any Kane if you are interested in bringing him in when healthy. wouldn't want to max out on spurs players, as that will require two transfers to get Kane in (and you'd have to choose which spurs player to drop, which usually results in the 50/50/90 rule)

Ah 😛 ... Switch near the dbgw then .. those moves look good. ..may get De Roon as bench fodder too... costa is a good cap option vs palace

There is one more plan but not sure if it'll work or not. Looks like this:

GW30: Snodgrass, Coutinho, Abel to cheapie, cheapie and Costa for -4pts (4-3-3)

GW31: Aguero to Ibra, Markovic to Alli and Matip/Coleman to Yoshida/Kone for -8pts

Would give Kun-Costa-Luka this week and Costa-Ibra-Luka from next week onwards

I'd cap Kun or Mane from what you have. Costa hasn't scored big for most of the year anyway.

Although CPL have tightened up since Sakho arrived there's a danger we overestimate how solid they are v the best side in the PL. I fell into this trap when I didn't cap Alexis v HUL, thinking their defence had improved etc etc etc lol 😉

Ah but it was an error on my part to trust that improved defence v Alexis and the 'gulf in class', could well be the same to ignore Costa this week so playing it safe lol

Rotation could be an issue with your team. Defence looks strong & i'm guessing you'd rotate your MF & Strikers too based on fixtures. My humble advice is for you to figure out which system would you want to play? 4-3-3 / 4-4-2 / 3-4-3 / 3-5-2 & then make a decision on the players.
