The Knee Jerk – Gameweek 32

If only there was a different Fantasy Premier League chip – one that allows you to extend the allowed allocation for one particular team in our squads – then we’d be far more content tonight.

As it is, we can only choose three members of Mauricio Pochettino’s irrepressible Spurs side and, right now, that proves rather problematic.

I almost felt like curling up in a corner after deciding to sell Son Heung-min. But, having played the percentages with my late acquisition of Dele Alli, my ill-fated Gameweek 32 transfers were undoubtedly driven by this very issue.

With Harry Kane returning to the picture and both Alli and Eriksen maintaining relentless form, even the brilliant and combustible Son struggles to justify selection.

There’s no questioning his value to us at present – priced at 7.0, his goal threat and flair is a hugely tempting proposition. His devastating 19-point return is destined to see him earn a flood of new owners and yet, as mentioned, the likes of Kane, Alli and Eriksen surely have to remain Spurs’ top three assets.

Alli’s sublime strike for Spurs’ opener means he has now produced 13 goals from his last 15 Gameweek starts. He is by far the top scoring midfield asset over that spell and simply has to claim a berth for the run-in.

Meanwhile, Kane’s return shakes up the situation up front but, like Alli, his potential surely has to force our hand.

He scored 12 goals from 10 Gameweek starts before being derailed by injury and, in this efficient Spurs attacking unit, he promises to go on delivering at that kind of rate. With 6.7 points per match, he remains peerless among FPL forwards.

Then there’s Eriksen, perhaps the most disposable of the three, but still a prime Fantasy asset. His assist today took him to 14 for the season, with ten arriving in his last nine home matches. Only Alli and Bournemouth’s Josh King has scored more points than the Dane over the last 15 Gameweeks.

It’s so difficult to justify looking beyond this trio, then, even with Son’s obvious appeal on offer.

Significantly, we have to consider that, should Pochettino revert to a three-man defence with wing-backs, Son’s starting role will no longer be assured.

Eriksen and Alli will likely support Kane, with the wing-backs providing width and Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele sitting deep. Son would be reduced to rotation and cameo roles at that point – and that point could arrive very soon.

Spurs take on Chelsea in an FA Cup semi-final following the Gameweek 33 home clash with Bournemouth. Pochettino seems set to go into that Wembley tie with a formation that mirrors Chelsea – reverting to 3-4-2-1, with Rose perhaps fit to return. Will he switch back following the semi-final? It’s certainly a consideration for those pondering a move for Son.

At least today’ teamsheet at White Hart Lane offered an obvious fall-guy to free-up a spare Spurs slot.

With the 36% owned Kyle Walker benched for a second Gameweek in three, he is already topping the sales charts as managers clear the decks for investment in midfield and attack.

It’s unfortunate that, with the Chelsea defence still unable to claim clean sheets, we can’t look to Spurs to help reinforce out backlines.

But with such attacking riches on offer, if we’re being forced to overlook Son’s form, then a rested Walker and even budget proposition Ben Davies, have little hope of claiming one of our now treasured Spurs allocations.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Drawing against Everton and Kane coming back early has changed the landscape for Ibra (IMO)

Even if they win today, if they drop points against Chelsea, that DGW could be a massive banana skin for United assets.

Kane has Palace, Lukaku has West Ham (who he always scores agaisnt) that week, both could easily outscore him even though he has 2 games.

I still think I should keep the wc till before gw36 in order to prepare for dgw37.
The need to bring Kane will force me to lose another spur, probably Eriksen.
If I don't bring Kane, the midfield spurs and Davies can stay.
In this case, I think of getting Ibra but still not convinced if ManUtd can score much in a dgw with 2 away matches vs Burnley and MCity.
I thought I wouldn't ditch Siggy but he and Swansea have been underperforming, which is enough to make me want to lose Llorente and Mawson too.
As for Hazard, I think I can save this week since he plays at ManUtd, but get him next week.

        What do you think?

What is the best Spurs trio going fwd?

Imo Kane and Alli are the two obvious picks.

    Who is the third best?

Walker - rotation risk it seems eventhough I think he remains first choice RB. Trippier was excellent yesterday

Eriksen - on set pieces, nailed on, but plays a bit deeper when Pochettino plays with a back four, and especially when Son, Alli and Kane are on the pitch.

Son - not nailed on but explosive and in brilliant form. Tempting to keep him if you have him, at least for BOU at home... but whenever Pochettino goes bac to a back 3 he could start on the bench.

Davies - immense value right now but Rose will come back before the end of the season... right?

Vertonghen - absolutely nailed on until he end of the season and cheaper than Alderweireld

    Thoughts?

But not having Son vs Bournemouth is a scarier thing than not owning Eriksen.

Steady - Davies (6 points) but return of Rose at end of April

Steady - Eriksen (3-8 points each time)

Explosive - Son (3 to 18 but with Kane back will those high return chances surely lower)

      Choices choices

Not sure Davies has steady 6ptrs. Bournemouth Palace and West Ham could all sneak a goal. I wouldn't expect 3 clean sheets. They got caught out against Swansea, granted they had 2nd keeper but still.

Not sure if anyone's interested but just planning dgw 37 in my head an these are my thoughts. My team is

    DeGea Grant
    Alonso Mawson PVA Gibson Britos
    Sanchez Alli Siggy Son King
    Kane Kaku Tekkers

Next week (into gw34) : save free
    Into gw35: DeGea/Britos -> Pickford/Yoshi
Into gw36: Gibson/Son/Tekkers - Luiz (if Chelsea can find some defensive form) /Hazard/Anichebe or Barnes (-8)
    Into 37: Grant/Mawson -> 2dgw players

    GW37 BB Team

    Pickford Caballero (unless he's dropped)
Alonso (dgw), Luiz (dgw) PVA (dgw) Yoshi (dgw) Mawson replacement
Sanchez (dgw) Haz (dgw) Alli (dgw) Siggy (sun) King (BUR)
Kane (dgw) Kaku (WAT) Anichebe/Barnes (SWA,ars / bou)

This is the plan anyway. Hopefully Chelsea sort out their defence, double gameweek against wba and WAT would be nice. They're last 4 fixtures over 3 gw's are MID, wba/WAT, SUN. 4 cleanies there if they can re organize themselves and stop conceded single goals.

Problem is if Chelsea win all their games, they will be champions after the 1st game of DGW37 at the latest.

In that case I would expect some rotation in the 2nd one, and that makes their star players probable one-games in DGW37

If Pep shows that he still prefers Jesus's pressing over Aguero's proven goal scoring record, then Kun.

If Wenger refuses to learn and continues to play Welbeck up front and Sanchez out wide, then Sanchez.

If Mourinho decides United have no chance of top 4 and goes into rotation mode, then Ibra.

      Whatever Poch does, not Kane.

B: siggy >> zaha.....doesnt solve the lloriente issue as next week i can do mcauly/Kun > gibson/ibra (-4)..unless i take additional hit. Bear in mind that siggy has a good home fixture in gw34

    Cant think of anything else

This week looks like a good time to do it if you want to, before GW 35.

    Thoughts on this side?

    Heaton
    Valencia Stephens Holgate
    Coutinho Alli Eriksen Redmond
    Kane(C) Lukaku Aguero(vc)

    Robinson, Carroll, Chambers, Ake.

Would be on -4 after shipping Walker & Vardy to Kane and Holgate.

    Worth it?

      Essentially what I'm asking.

Is it worth losing Walker and Vardy who both have nice fixtures for Kane(C)

So that's a yes. Even though Vardy plays Palace?

I would. It might not work, but look at the potential upside. Far greater than not doing it.

No. There's no price lock when going from yellow flag to no flag.

    2 FTs, 1.2 itb

    Pickford
    Alonso Baines Brunt
    Alli Coutinho Siggy Barkley
    Aguero Lukaku Carroll

    Heaton Tadic Nyom Maguire

I'm thinking Aguero -> Kane and then have 2Fts for DGW34

Do it after the games tonight?

Yeah just give yourself a bit more time to see if your players come through ok.

    Grant (jaku)
    Bavies, Valencia, Alonso (Cedric, Maguire)
    Siggy, Sanchez, Ali, Firmino (King)
    Carroll, Kane, Kaku

    1ft, 1.5itb,

Thinking to save FT? Defence looks like it won't return much this turn, but thinking of double gameweek players, mid and palace won't return either. Will access options next turn, maybe do kaku to ibrah and bring in Hennessy instead of grant.
