Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Gameweek 32 concludes at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace – with victories in four of their last five Premier League matches – look to maintain their recent revival against London rivals Arsenal.

Sam Allardyce’s’ Eagles have kept clean sheets in their last two home outings but a shut-out looks unlikely this evening: they face an Arsenal side who have scored in each of their previous twenty matches in the Premier League, with key Fantasy asset Alexis Sanchez a big factor in that statistic.

The Chilean has notched 12 goals and supplied five assists on the road this season – more than any other player – and is backed by 309,000+ or 7% with the captaincy this evening.

He’s supported by an in-form Theo Walcott, with the FPL midfielder boasting goals in back-to-back Gameweeks as he bids to provide us with a cheaper alternative to Sanchez. Impressively, Walcott has scored 18 goals from his last 23 starts in all competitions.

      King -> Townsend for me.

Get him back on WC if still hot or just go with 15 DGW37'ers.

Surely Wenger will change this from this point on - Sanchez - arguably the best player in the Premier League - is on the periphery and having to fight to affect the game.

We can all see it - surely Wenger has to resort back to his early season plan - get him back central and use Welbeck and Giroud as plan B.

Wenger does not change anything - that is the problem. He has gone from revolutionary in the 1997 to caveman in 2017

I think you are right, Mark. It worked out last game vs. West Ham, but it's all about results, and this is a bad one. I think he has to try with Sanchez up top the next game.

I meant what I said a couple of pages back. It's one of the worst decisions I've ever seen in the prem to move Sanchez wide.

What did they stand to gain?...Sanchez and Arsenal were scoring for fun and playing really well....why would anybody change that?

Problem is he is stubborn. Aguero looking better at the moment than Sanchez. I'm Considering keeping Aguero and selling Sanchez instead

That's the worry allright (as in selling Sanchez). But the evidence is right there in front of us. Atrocious tonight. Especially Ozil and Walcott, so where is the supply going to come from for Sanchez even if he is CF? Xhaka or Elneny?

Given their recent away form, tonight doesn't seem any different
What's new to learn tonight ... same old, same old

Definitely not the best team in the prem to watch!

Problem is that sanchez will not be around come the summer.

I think Wenger is trying to figure out his team before the summer as he/whomever will need to get players in.

Playing sanchez in his preferred role up front just covers over the arsenal cracks leaving them guessing come summer tranfers.

I think what he is doing is logical in one way but he needs to at least finish in the top six.

The board could be with him on this one. Ultimately Arsenal need to know how effective they are without sanchez and work from there.

Arsenal do not look good. I kinda flagged this to myself a few games back but I still got sanchez in last week.

      My own twisted logic 🙂

Is this worth a wildcard this week?

Out: Foster, Walker, Valencia, Pieters, McAuley, Sigurdsson, Carroll, Defoe

In: Valdes, Alderweireld, Gibson, Holgate, Yoshida, Zaha, Ibra, Benteke

Would leave me with 0.1m ITB and this team:

    Valdes, Pickford,
    Alonso, Alderweireld, Gibson, Holgate, Yoshida,
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Alli, King, Zaha,
    Lukaku, Ibra, Benteke

hehe...like I say, we can all see it. If Sanchez can't get the ball, he can't influence the game. It's nuts this, having seen what he can do from a central role. He's tried Welbeck down the middle - 1 goal and 1 assist from Sanchez. I don't get it?

      Surely it changes at Boro?

...when in fact what is needed is a GK, whole new back four, a midfield enforcer and at least one top draw striker.

...but sure...let's go buy some more lightweight, mildly skillful midfielders who go missing in games...can't get enough of those! 🙂

But Sanchez & Anichebe - Ibra & 4.8 mid looking mighty tempting.
