Double Gameweeks 36 and 37 Confirmed

Earlier this lunchtime, the Premier League confirmed new dates for a number of fixtures, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to fine-tune their wildcard plans for the run-in.

Double Gameweek 36

Arsenal – Man United (H), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H)

Only two teams – Southampton and Arsenal – have been handed a double Gameweek 36 after their head-to-head, which was postponed due to the former’s progress to the EFL Cup final, was shifted to Wednesday, May 10.

Claude Puel’s men hardly have the easiest of schedules, with a testing weekend trip to Liverpool before entertaining the Gunners.

Similarly, Arsenal host Man United in the weekend prior to making their way to St Mary’s.

Double Gameweek 37

Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Leicester – Man City (A), Spurs (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)
Manchester United – Spurs (A), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Middlesbrough (A), Man United (H)
Sunderland – Swansea (H), Arsenal (A)
Spurs – Man United (H), Leicester (A)
Watford – Everton (A), Chelsea (A)
West Bromwich Albion – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)

With ten teams set to play twice in Gameweek 37, this, as expected, offers a prime opportunity to use the remaining chips.

Obviously you are unable to play two chips in the same Gameweek, so if you are wildcarding in Gameweek 36 to set up your squad for Gameweek 37, it’s worth remembering that you cannot then also use a Triple Captain or Bench Boost in Gameweek 36.

Dealing the second wildcard in Gameweek 36 to catch the early potential offered by Arsenal and Southampton, then following it up with a Bench Boost or Triple Captain chip in the next Gameweek, looks the best solution.

In terms of the teams involved, the Gunners go to Stoke before welcoming Sunderland to the Emirates in Gameweek 37, while the Saints travel to Middlesbrough prior to facing Man United at St Mary’s.

Despite his recent drought, Alexis Sanchez is likely to find a place in many second wildcard teams, though non-owners may now choose to overlook him until the Gunners’ two pairs of fixtures, focusing their short-term plans instead on double Gameweek 34 attackers from Man United and Palace.

At 5.1, the likes of James Ward-Prowse could emerge as a decent midfield enabler, while the fitness of Manolo Gabbiadini will also play a part in our thinking.

For those looking to load up on Arsenal and Southampton for their back-to-back doubles, it’s worth bearing in mind that they also offer home matches in Gameweek 38, entertaining Everton and Stoke respectively.

Chelsea will now travel to West Brom before hosting Watford on Monday May 15, while the Hornets have consecutive road trips for their double Gameweek 37, with a visit to Everton preceding their Stamford Bridge encounter.

Crucially, moving the Chelsea v Watford match to that Monday evening has had a significant impact on the Gameweek 37 deadline.

Essentially, Gameweek 37 will now get underway on the evening of Friday, May 12, when West Brom host Chelsea and Everton entertain Watford. The deadline – an hour before the first match gets underway –will be 6.45pm.

Man City, meanwhile, are the only side set to play twice in front of their own supporters, with clashes against Leicester and West Brom on the agenda for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Having scored in each of the last four Gameweeks, Sergio Aguero will stake a claim for consideration here but – as we saw in the case of Raheem Sterling, who was rested for the second match of double Gameweek 27 – Pep’s tinkering could prove a spanner in the works.

For Man United, this means that all four of their matches across double Gameweek 34 (Burnley, Man City) and Gameweek 37 are away from home.

While those extra fixtures heighten the appeal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored ten of his 17 goals on the road, the veteran has still offered more threat in front of his own fans, firing an effort every 18 minutes at Old Trafford compared with 30 minutes away.

Encouragingly for those eyeing up their backline, Jose Mourinho’s men have chalked up six of 12 clean sheets on the road this season – indeed, United have conceded less away goals (13) than any other side.

In spite of the Red Devils’ fine away record, faith in Spurs’ trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen is likely to remain resolute as they welcome United to the Lane before heading off to Leicester in the final fixture of Gameweek 37.

As always, we’ll look to publish ‘Scouting the Doubles’ articles assessing the prospects in greater detail in the build-up to each double Gameweek.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering..

Top by fixtures look to be

      Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
      Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)

But if Chelsea have the league wrapped up by then we can expect considerable rotation.

Early thoughts are - how we could do with a central striking Sanchez for that wonderful GWK 37 match up.

Aguero v Jesus could be interesting if the young Brazilian is fit.

So if we're all planning to BB in GW37 (Assumed), then we need to wildcard for GW36. Meaning we need to load up on Arsenal/Southampton in the wildcard.

I'll probably get Forster in, 4 fixtures pretty much nailed on.

I'm definitely getting 15 DGW players in for GW37. Why the hell not? There's enough teams in there and they are all good. Go hard or go home.

For me I'm going to butcher my team with hits to get in lots of Palace and Boro players for DGWK 34...then wildcard them all out in GWK 35 to prepare for DGWKs 36, 37 and the final set of fixtures.

Yes, but you cant double chip, so GW35 is the best time to WC if you have TC and BB left

          Yeah.

I have Zaha and Valencia at the moment,

Will get Zlatan in and take a hit for a Boro defender (probably Gibson) and leave it at that...

Then i'll start the wildcard antics!

You would only WC in 35 if you still have TC no (and BB obviously), otherwise WC in 36.

I am going to largely ignore DGW34, use FT to get in a few more Arsenal and Soton for 36 and produce a totally current and bespoke DGW team in 36 specifically based upon up to date information going into GW36 for BB GW37

Same here... I've been taking consistent hits over the last few weeks leading up to a GW34 BB (hopefully won't get caught up on the wrong side of rotation), then WC in 35 for a terrific(ble) run-in

Why not WC ahead of 34, getting 8/9 DGWers, fill rest of squad with Spurs/Arsenal/Southampton etc......then ease your 'butchery' over the next 3 GWs ahead of big DGW in 37....that way you get the benefit of 2 big DGWs without massive minus points any week?
(Trying to convince myself this is the way to go!! :-)).

Why does no one consider BB for GW34. At the end of the day, you are boosting only your bench. Does it matter which week you use it? Bench boost in GW34 gives you the option of a cheaper bench in GW37 and lots of TC options with your 11 all doubled up in games.

Thanks indeed mate. My point is that if I BB in GW34 with 4 Boro/Palace "subs" (i.e. players whom I would normally only bench) and then WC and then in GW37 have 11 players of DGW. The aggregate is the same. Is there a logic in BB'ing 15 players over BB'ing 4 DGW subs + playing with 11DGW's later? Indeed, in GW37 I have the luxury of choosing more players for only 11 slots. I can choose my subs from the cheaperst options. (and in GW34 I can opt for de Roon, Zaha, Valdes+Pickford)

so it's about using BB in 3

                BENCH BOOST IN GW34
                GW 34 (BB) = 4 DGW + 11 SGW =  19 players.
                GW 37 = 11 DGW = 22 players.
                TOTAL = 41 players.

                compared to

                BENCH BOOST IN GW37
                GW 34 = 4 DGW + 7 SGW = 15 players
                GW37 (BB) = 15 DGW = 30 playets
                TOTAL = 45 players

Yes - You can then optimise your GW37 11 and use bench for fodder only.

                So 4 DGW BB in GW 34 + 11 DGW in GW 37 = 15 DGWers.

All makes sense - BB when the bench is at its strongest ... but it is possible (with a GW36 WC) in GW37 to have a stronger than normal bench of DGWers by creatively spreading the Team Value

I think that kind of sums it up; methinks I fear by "spreading" team value, I will be able to achieve less, than by fielding a 11-dgw-man strong GW37 team with a triple captain. That's why your message sums it up; if you have an all-scoring sterling-walcott-tadic kind of team that performs well, then, yes, your point will just nail it.

If I had my TC left I would use it in GW37, preceded by a WC36 for 11 premium DGW players with a bench of the cheapest fodder possible.

With a few hits I would BB GW34

Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City clearly have the best fixtures here. However... Who do you want to own from Arsenal? 4 games in 2 weeks will mean lots of rotation, maybe even for Sanchez. City have Sane/Sterling but Aguero will probably face competition from Jesus by that time, this could also affect minutes for Sterling/Sane with rotation in that forward line. Chelsea, good options, but could easily have won the league by the second game, and could make wholesale changes.

Yep, I will be looking at people like Janujaz/Kone for a differential option, Pickford for save points. Maybe a Capoue-type as a 5th mid if Matarazzi is done with his powerplay of dropping key players. Albrighton/Ndidi could be outside bets for that 5th spot also...

Think using TC in 38 has some logic to it. Likely to be lots of goals with many teams having nothing to play for.

Maybe Hazard at home to Sunderland is the one? Chelsea will surely want to put on a show at the Bridge before collecting trophy?

Would have preferred Soton v Arsenal on 35.

No WC left but will probably bring Gabbiadini and Sanchez for GW36. Will already have Yoshida too by then.

Will have 3 Spurs, 2 City (Aguero or Jesus + Sané probably), but not sure about Chelsea. If they win in 33, 34, 35 and 36 they will be Champions or will only need one of the two DGW37 games to become champions...which should mean some rotation in the second one. Might steer clear of Chelsea for DGW37.

I wildcarded last week and already have 4 players for DGW 14 and also 2 Soton and 2 Arsenal players. Will bring in Benteke for Lukaku next week and then switch to Gabbiadini the week after. For 36 I'll have 3 Arsenal and 3 Soton and 14 DGW players for 37. May use a hit or two for BBing in 37 depending on form/injuries, but quite happy with my decision to WC last week. 3 Spurs as well in my team

A couple of FTs in to 35 to get Arsenal & Soton, WC 36, BB 37 (no TC left) with decent nailed DGW players, 2 FT for GW38

May mean something like ditching Aguero, Sanchez or Hazard ... Erik instead of Alli etc to finance it.

Can't have them all. Rotation will abound. I think Southampton look most essential unless Arsenal seriously improve.

Arsenal and Spurs both have United at home - a lot depends on whether united are still in the Europa by then.

Chelsea: if they keep 6/7 pts advance on Spurs, it means the Watford at home game will be the game where they officially win the title -> might be a goal feast so Hazard seem to be the prime prospect, but if title is done probably Willian will get game time.

Arsenal: would their defense be finally a good option? Maybe Gabriel?

Southampton: bench enablers like Ward Prowse might be a good pick

Spurs: Attack only, likely not keeping CS on those 2 fixtures...

City: so much rotation risk 🙁

      GW34 - Business as usual
      GW35 - WC
      GW36 - Sanchez Triple Captain
      GW37 - Bench Boost

      Thoughts?

        Thinking this as well

Main factor for WC in 35 is that I can use the TC chip in 36. Good fixture for Saints as well in 35

I'll have Mustafi, Sanchez, Yoshida, Tadic, Aguero, Sane, Eriksen, Alli and Kane.

After that I'm not too picky, those mentioned above are priority

Why does no one consider BB for GW34. At the end of the day, you are boosting only your bench. Does it matter which week you use it? Bench boost in GW34 gives you the option of a cheaper bench in GW37 and lots of TC options with your 11 all doubled up in games.

I think ppl would like to load up on a squad full of DGWers then use BB in 37 to maximise points chance. This means potentially you could have all 15 DGW players points as opposed to 11DGWers points + TC.

Yes but what is the difference if I BB in GW34 with 4 Boro/Palace "subs" (i.e. players whom I would normally only bench) and then WC and then in GW37 have 11 players of DGW. The aggregate is the sanme. Is there a logic in BB'ing 15 players over BB'ing 4 DGW subs + playing with 11DGW's later?

Hey - it's your chip, your team. You do what you want with them, but for me, what you have suggested does not appeal. Firstly its Boro and Palace! Yes Palace are in good form but are against liv/TOT which will be difficult. Secondly, this method means you will have a minimum of 11 single GW players (you may field some DGWers but I'm guessing you're not going to fill up on them) plus 4 DGWers (points potential from 18 games) as opposed to (potentially) 15 DGWers which has a points potential from 30 games! With more choice of players! I know which one I'm going for.

            Good luck whatever you do.

Plan is to get 8 or 9 assets cpl, boro and manu assets for gw34. WC 35 and prepare for dgwk 36 and 37.
The only dilemma is TC chip for 34 or 36. Anyone think benteke for TC, especially because Liverpool sold him, he has something to prove.

WC at 36 then BB at GW37 would be very powerful this season. ARS has DGW on 36 & 37. CHE, MCI & TOT all have double on 37 and at the same time very good fixtures from 36 to 38. If can fit in 12 players from these four teams, plus Pickford, plus any two players from SOT, could result in ridiculous high score.

I think WC anytime earlier than 36 could be a waste. Information is very key in season closing. Will Jesus come back? Will Son still hold out a starting place? Will Rose recover? We want to know all these as close as possible to gw 37.

WC at 35 sounds quite close to 37, but it's actually a bad timing. ARS, TOT and CHE have tough fixture, while CRY and MUN have great fixture. Do WC at 35 just for the sake of TC Sanchez at 36 sounds a bad idea, unless you think MUN & sot are two fixtures easy to score against.

TC on Ibra, Zaha, Gibson or Negredo at 34 is a better choice and without the needs to rush the WC earlier.

That's why it was good to TC Aguero during his last DWG at 27. Although it doesn't pay off too nice, that pair of fixture (sun/STO) is truly too good if you look at the options left here.

      this might help inform:

Hi, I saw that a lot of people (including FFS PODCAST) are talking about Spurs coverage because so many people already have 1-3 players and Kane is nearing a full return. On the podcast they were discussing how similar their PPG (points per game) are but it struck me that if we are talking about 'coverage' then really what we are interested in is their PPG in the games when these players (Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Son) are all featuring. Also because we're interested in mitigating the risk from not owning Kane, we are specifically interested in what happens when Kane DOES get points. So here are three sets of ppg that tell you exactly that:

To what extent do other fielded attacking options mitigate Kane's pointscoring?

      PPG: Home and Away (N9)

      Kane: 11.1
      Alli: 8.1
      Eriksen: 8.1
      Son: 6

      PPG: Home Only (N5)

      Kane: 13.8
      Alli: 6
      Eriksen: 8.6
      Son: 5.2

      PPG: Away only (N4)

      Kane: 7.75
      Alli: 10.75
      Eriksen: 8.25
      Son: 7

What we see (albeit based on a small sample: N9), is that over the course of the 9 games featuring all 4 players, when Kane notches attacking returns there is no attacking alternative mitigating over 74%. However, when differentiated for H/A we see stark differences. At home coverage is even less effective with Eriksen the most effective mitigator at just 62%. Away from home we see that all three options have been very effective but that Alli comes into his own and comfortably outscores Kane.

Order of preference for GW33: Eriksen, Alli, Son

      1. Pacer.
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 8 days ago

So Alli may not be a great option this week, and actually Kane scores very heavily at home (against poor teams) and poorly, relatively, away. I would stay away from Kane (C) in 37

Please pick one for next week....leaning towards C as a bit of a punt....

    A) Vardy > Benteke
    B) Fletcher > De Roon
    C) Both for a hit
