Dugout Discussion – Wednesday

The extended Gameweek 34 continues with a big night that delivers three hugely anticipated matches.

There could barely be more Fantasy interest across the trio of encounters, with a scattering of key assets in action.

Firstly, Middlesbrough’s Alvaro Negredo, signed by 201,000 and backed by an improbable 155,000 (3.5%), will bid to improve on a dismal 2-point return from his first fixture when he faces Sunderland at the Riverside Stadium. A crunch encounter for both teams, there will also be keen interest in the Boro defence with Ben Gibson signed by 118,000+ ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke was undoubtedly the weekend’s star performer with a brace at Anfield to provide his 506,000+ ownership with a 12-point return. Backed by 96,000 (2.1%) with the armband, he will look to build on that return in tonight’s encounter with Spurs.

But the title-challenging visitors will boast their own cast of key figures, with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen supported by an army of Fantasy owners. Kane is himself backed by 244,000 with the GW34 captaincy.

Finally, at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will host Leicester City as they bid to revive their top four ambitions having navigated to the FA Cup Final at the weekend.

The big news from north London is that Alexis Sanchez may just be restored to the central striker role, with both Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud benched – Theo Walcott comes in and could also be a contender for that position if Wenger retains the 3-4-2-1 system.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyone think I can get away with Sterling and not Sane for the rest of the season? He might see just as much game time, and similar to others in his bracket like Pedro, Fab, Walcott etc and still seems good value for 7.5. Any Sterling owners out there?

Sané is favored over Sterling by a long shot. If your getting any city player, at least get one that Pep actually seems to like

Yes we know that now, the question is whether I can justify Sterling > Sane amongst all the other moves I would like to do!

I think both will be rotated, Sterling more so because Pep loves Sane, but Sane is due a rest soon.

Yeah it's not the price but number of transfers and worthiness of a -4. Last league game Sterling started he got two assists 3 bonus. It's not like he's perma benched either, and Silva has picked up an injury

    OK,
Here's a first airing of WC.
Any obvious flaws? - still have 1.2m itb.

    Cech Pickford
    Kompany Alonso Monreal Yoshida Stephens
    Sanchez Alli Fabregas Fernandinho Albrighton
    Aguero Costa Gabbiadini

      Cech-Pickford is standard.
Kompany is a slight risk, not sure Pep will risk two games in a week. Alonso & Monreal safe. Yoshida-Stephens again standard.
Sanchez-Alli no brainers. Cesc is a good option but always a rotation risk. Dino plays so deep that he's not even worth getting. Not big on Albrighton but at that price.
      Standard frontline.

Hard to see where the way the fixtures have panned out. I'm all in on DGW and nailing Arsenal & Citeh in particular will be key with their fixtures.
Agueros leg falling off and Wenger declaring his undying love to Walcott or Giroud would be helpful signs.

So my ML season has been over for ages after a series of joke injuries... Smacked the WC button today and came up with this for exact cash. Pretty excited about it, seeing as I've had very little interest over the last few weeks/months.

    Cech - Bravo
    Luiz - Monreal - Clichy - Yoshida - Stephens
    Sanchez - Hazard - Alli - Coutinho - King
    Vardy - Gabbiadini - Afobe

Looks very promising to me through these two double game weeks. Can field a very similar strength team this week as before I hit the button, even with the money on the bench. I'll have 2 FT's for GW38 and a luxury transfer for GW36 if there's any emergency. Wish me luck.

Bravo has played 3 in a row now after some not-so-impressive Willy games. There shouldn't be any reason to change him again now.
Maybe. I really like Stephens' fixtures though and I'll probably play him this week and in 38. Sot'n have been up and down a lot this season but they always have potential for a solid clean sheet, especially at home.
Definitely agree, but that's gotta happen somewhere, especially with trying to get the GW37 Bench Boost team 2 weeks early. I would love a Kane/Costa/Aguero, but they're just too expensive and I like those midfield options way too much. Aguero also isn't nailed now. I'll grab Costa for GW38. Gabbiadini is nailed for me; great player, great price, great fixtures.

        Thanks for the input!

Caceres who they paid for is also sitting on the bench. With nothing to play for, it would be silly not to give him a start toward the end of the season

Pep has stated that he doesn't have a first choice keeper. He will base his decision on the opponent and the training sessions.

I looked at that. Really liked it at first, but then I realized I expect Bournemouth to destroy them and Chelsea could put 6 or 7 past them on the final day. Those are the two fixtures I would play him (outside of GW37 double).

Oh I'm actually more or less fine. The bench points don't hurt because logically, I wouldn't play those players anyway.

The benteke (c) stung but I was worried my rival would pull away more if Tekkers scored today. So that worked out for me.

I was happy with my wildcard until I started trying to fit Costa in. My latest tinkering has me 0.6 short of this team:

Thanks - Leicester do have the DGW but vs. City and Spurs it's probably the toughest possible week defensively.

This is based on the assumption that GW37 will be great for the big hitters, less so for defenders in general. Not bothered by the benching nightmare, will take the benched points as long as I get a big bench boost in GW37.

I'm still thinking about holding onto Davies but obviously Rose coming back is the worry but it's worth considering to free up cash instead of Vert. That would let you upgrade Stephens as you would have 4 Saints. Albrighton a not a bad pick btw.

If Valencia plays today, it will be unlikely for him to play again vs Swansea on weekend, right?

It's probably time to get rid.

I think it is a 50/50 situation. I am definitely getting rid of him on my gw 36 WC, but playing him against Swansea even if he plays in the derby. My thinking is that he will either be benched or play the full game.

Guess it depends on your other defenders and if you can use the transfer better somewjere Else.

    Hennessey Pickford
    Gibson Bailly Vertonghen (Holgate Stephens)
Alli Zaha Sanchez King (De Roon)
    Lukaku Kane Negredo

    WC already played. Plans are:

Negredo > Gabbi on the table. Then Zaha > Hazard next week. Would you do both for a hit this week?

No need for a hit imo.

You'll need Hazard to outscore Zaha with 4 points. Can see Palace doing Well at home against Burnley.

My current squad with no wc, thoughts?
I've gone from 11.2k to 6.8k this GW and want to hold a top 10k finish. How many hit do you think would be ok to take in upcoming weeks?

    Season keepers x9:
Pickford, Alonso, Yoshida, Mawson, Alli, Eriksen, Sanchez, Hazard, Kane.

Need to get rid over the next two GWs:
    Gestede, Gibson, Hennessey, Zaha.

    Unsure:
    Benteke, Valencia.

So assuming your XI Would look something like this for gw 35?
      Henny
      Valencia, Yoshida, Alonso
      Sanchez, Hazard, Alli,Eriksen, Zaha
      Kane, Benteke

So if you have 1FT, I Would probably spend it on Gibson. Possible Valencia doesn't play against Swansea. Or perhaps save it you believe your XI will all play.

So no need for a hit this week and see how things are after this week.

      1. jia you
        • 7 Years

Yep, that's my XI. I've used my FT on Ibra to Kane now so no FT. Thanks though you are right, Gibson needs to go first perhaps in a double transfer next week getting Monreal in the process. Maybe 1 hit next week and another the week after might suffice.

Wait until news on whether Valencia looks likely to play. If he doesn't Seem like playing, a hit could be ok. Can't see Gibson or Mawson getting much in 35 with those fixtures.

I think all 6 need to go. If you have a FT now then that a hit each week between now and inc 37 to get it sorted.

      1. Licious Lizard
        • 11 Years
        6 years, 12 months ago

But I wouldn't take a hit this week, as his XI is pretty nailed for the most part. Waiting a week can possibly give crucial news/info on who looks certain to play in 36 and 37.

    Pickford Foster

    Hazard Alli King Sanchez JWP

But do we really expect Pep to drop Aguero in his current form?

          No idea tbh
My only wish is that come gw37 there is still doubt about his gametime.
I would rather get him as a low owned explosive, risky for sure differential than everyone have him because he scores a brace against United.

GW35 is a really bad week for many of the DGW teams. Chelsea face Everton away. Arsenal face Spurs away. It's also a good week for Palace and Man Utd, so your DGW34 players will do really well. It's not worth to WC for a mediocre GW like this when more information is key to future success.
