The ScoutCast – Episode 226 – Beached

Excess baggage checked in, deckchairs reserved and sun block applied – the Scoutcast team are all ready to hit the beach.

Smack in the middle of Gameweek 37, with points flowing from all angles, not even Hal Robson Kanu’s late goal can upset the pre-vacation mood.

Stringing five men across the midfield, Luke and Az join Jonty, Andy and myself for a bumper end of season episode as we tackle another volley of questions from you, the community.

We conduct a post-mortem on the flurry of chips, weigh up the Gameweek 38 punts, put together our final day Wildcard XI and take a look back on our own personal highs and lows of a topsy-turvy season.

After 128 minutes of that lot and sunstroke already setting in, we even forget to chat captains and transfers come the end, only to make amends later.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

I'm behind 40 points from the leader and now it's very hard but i'll try

    My team:
    Caballero (DDG)
    Monreal/Bavies/Yoshida (Holgate/Gibson)
    Sanchez/Alli*/Eriksen/Redmond (King)
    Costa (VC)/Jesus (C)/Gabbi*

    His team:
    Robles/Grant
    Alonso/Mawson/Holding/Daniels/Smith
    Sanchez/Hazard/Alli/King/Albrighton
    Kane/Llorente/Gabbi

So I'm thinking about Cout&Vokes (-4) to Alli/Gabbi and bench King. Any other ideas?

I think Az comes across really well on the show ! He is personable, reflects honestly on his game and is passionate about FPL. I feel thankful there are people out there who are dedicated enough to put time aside to discuss the game we all love and mull things over. Whilst we are all entitled to our post opinions I think it's important to remember Az is a human being who will almost certainly read your comments on here so I think posts like this are a bit inconsiderate.

Bottomed. Somehow 36 points ahead, but rival still has his TC chip.

He doesn't have Hazard, but has Costa (though no idea if he'll keep him after Kane's antics last night), too maverick to go:

Haz > bench fodder, Anichebe > Costa?

    Caballero / Pickford
    Alonso / Vertonghen / Monreal / Stephens / Holgate
    Sanchez / Hazard / Eriksen / Pedro / King
    Kane / Jesus / Anichebe

I would if I were you. If I was your rival I'd probably stick the triple captain on Costa if I thought you didn't have him.

22 points ahead in mini league after a disastrous double gameweek where the gap was closed by around 70 points. Looking for a bit of advice as to how I can see off the guy chasing...

    My team

    Caballero
    Alonso - Stephens - Monreal
    Hazard - Alli - Sane - Ozil
    Jesus - Costa - Gabbiadini

Bench: Pickford - Holgate - Vertonghen - Morrison

    His team

    Cech
    Alonso - Yoshida - Davies
    Sanchez - Alli - Sane - Pedro - Albrighton
    Kane - Jesus

Bench: Caballero - Stephens - Holgate - Anichebe

Teams are fairly similar but worried about Kane and Sanchez again. I've got 2 FTs and he took hits last week so will only have 1.

    Should I

    a) Do my own thing and trust my own side (thinking of getting Coutinho and Vokes/Llorente for Hazard and Gabbiadini)
    b) Play it safe and try to get Kane/Sanchez in and captain them, given our teams are relatively similar

    Courtois
    Yoshi Davies Gibbs
    Sane Pedro Coutinho Sanchez
    Kane Jesus Costa

    Pickford King Stephens Mariappa

Currently benching King but history says NEVER bench King. Sane and Pedro surely good options this GW though.....

Who should I bench out of my front 8?

Would you just cut your losses and take a hit by getting rid of vardy and de bruyne for Kane and coutinho/son for -4

I know Leicester had 2 tough games in city and spurs but vardy hardly had a kick in both matches BUT this time it's Bournemouth...
