Crabtree Clinches FPL Crown

In yet another tense final day, Ben Crabtree has been crowned the Fantasy Premier League champion for 2016/17.

Nestled in the top ten since Gameweek 28, Ben – who made just a single four-point hit in the final 11 Gameweeks –
claimed top spot for the first time in the very final round of fixtures.

Trailing Uwais Ahmed by two points heading into today’s deadline, Ben went ahead before kick-off following Uwais’ four-point transfer hit.

That saw Liverpool pair Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho swapped in for Spurs’ Dele Alli and Leroy Sane of Manchester City – trades that would eventually prove decisive in the battle at the top.

Ben – with two free transfers – made equally radical transfer moves, shifting out Eden Hazard and Victor Anichebe for Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas and Chelsea’s Diego Costa.

Starting on Ben’s bench, the Cherries midfielder was the makeweight for the gutsy signing of Costa, although, on the day, it was Stanislas who was to prove the unlikely hero.

He scored the opening goal of the day and, with Josh King in Ben’s starting XI but missing out through injury, those points from the bench helped him extend an early lead.

The Stanislas strike, together with assists from Christian Eriksen and Leroy Sane, saw Ben seize a 12-point advantage heading into half-time.

While Uwais quickly countered with early second-half goals from his signings Lallana and Coutinho, Ben edged further ahead with an assist from his own Gameweek 38 capture, Costa.

The tide looked to be turning back in Uwais’ favour when Cesc Fabregas produced one of two assists in the second period. However, Ben Davies’ strike for Spurs on 84 minutes in their 7-1 rout of Hull City was to deal the killer blow.

While Uwais edged the bonus points on the final whistle, the two awarded to Stanislas on Ben’s bench, introduced as the auto-sub for King, were to take him to a final tally of 97. That surpassed Uwais final tally by three points on the day, and by a five-point margin in the overall ranks.

A proven FPL manager of some pedigree, Ben bettered his previous best rank of 353rd back in the 2011/12 season to become the FPL’s latest champion.

Huge congratulations go to Ben from all at Fantasy Football Scout, and also to Uwais who fought a valiant battle to give us a dramatic final day.

Elsewhere, Bibek Thapa from Nepal stormed to a 99 – 68 victory over Polish manager Peter B to claim the FPL cup.

Many congratulations go to Bibek.

We will have further post-season coverage coming up in the next 24-hours, as we round up the winners of this season’s Scout Leagues and Cups.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Most goals scored in Europe's top five leagues.

    Messi: 37
    Cavani: 35
    Aubameyang: 31
    Kane: 29
    Dzeko: 28

None of them won the league

surprised at so little being said on terrys send off on here when its the talk of the town everywhere else, for such a damp squib of a final day it was for me the most incredible display -one of self love an self importance the likes of which ive never seen from a player. he is not the only one club legend to retire and not in their wildest dreams would they have resorted to this. even diego at Napoli. it completely made fools of an already pretty foolish looking sunderland team who are at the end of the day trying to win a game of football. for moyes to have agreed to it kind of sums up where they are as a club.sure lets sink lower than we can. imagine sean dyche being given the same proposition?he would still be laughing. it would happen. dont get me wrong , Terry is one of the best CB's to have ever played the game, am not disputing that, but the 26th minute thing points to other less savoury facets of his character which arent worth celebrating

as somebody said on football 365 "it means the entire Sunderland side was clock watching for the first 26 minutes just in case one of them was on the ball when the clock struck 26 rather than playing football" . has this what hero worship has come to? jesus, theres plenty of time after the game for whatever you want to to do but to involve the other team during the game is unheard of. it wasnt a firendly or a charity match with ant and dec. jose has already made a mockery of having to fulfill these irksome prem league fixtures, it didnt need to be done here to

        I disagree, it's an issue.
I thought it way disrespectful to any one who decided to slide him in their fantasy team. I bet its cost a few people their ML chase as I doubt anybody protecting a lead would use Terry as "defense". Anyway, the point is he's a narcissistic noob and deserves a mention for being a pillock.

Still, it's nowhere near as bad as people make out. Drogba was subbed early and carried off by his teammates. It's a club that cares about its legends

I thought it was a great send off to a club and country legend, although agree it was a little bit contrived. Watched him after the match and thought he came across really well. Obviously, he splits opinion but seems a real family man and cares passionately about his club.

I actually thought it was one of the more embarrassing moments I've ever seen.

By all means give the bloke a send off (I'll leave personal comments out and just focus on his on-pitch behaviour) but to do it in the early stages of a live Premier League match, doesn't matter if it's a dead rubber or not, surely that qualifies as damaging the integrity of the game? Possibly borderline spot fixing?

Can you imagine Roy Keane having anything to do with this nonsense whatsoever when he was Sunderland boss? I can tell you there would be a few 4 letter words flying round the dressing room if such a stunt was even mentioned. I think it actually looks worse on Sunderland for agreeing to it than it does Chelsea, they were at best caught up in the own glory, I don't think it was malicious just very misguided.

Bringing the game into disrepute is usually how these things are described.

Everyone at Sunderland who agreed to that farce should hang their heads in shame. No spine whatsoever.

More than a bit of a cringe moment. Same applied when the United team all wore Ibrahimovic shirts for the warm up because he was injured.

On the plus side I think the new trend for players wearing a shirt with the mascots name on and the mascots wearing a shirt with the players name on is kinda nice. I'd like to see that done a few more times for the kids.

Agreed, the Ibra shirt thing was just as crass. But is it any surprise knowing that Mourinho is their manager. He is brought the crass and trashiness over to a club that used to be admired by all for their class and doing things the right way.

Don't like the shirt tribute to injured players. I understand that its a nice gesture from the players to a team mate but it feels like that level of tribute should be for something bigger, like a legend of the game who has died, not done his knee in.

The standard in my usual minileague has surely gone way up this season, and they all used to be super average and punty. They all seem a lot more solid in their choices now there is so much information and analytical tool out there.

      107.1

Had a significant advantage last Gws because my rival had 102, and chasing I had players he could not afford, like Jesus for example, but thats all about tactics as i played with 5 in midfield, and Ani as cheapie forward. But he also played spectacularly bad last 14-15 gws, so it all depends on how you play, not value in itself imo. But it ofc helps, especially when chasing so you could do things your rival can´t afford. Then again, Fabregas had more points than Hazard last 6 GWs and is 3 milion cheaper, etc, so what I´m sayimng is it can help but it can also be a trap.

    defender 469 120 3.91 16.5 28.42 16.86

    total 2781 609 4.57 100.0 27.81 100.00

The argument that taking hits does not pay in this case, is proven wrong. On average it cost me 19% of my budget for the bench. It can be as low as 17.5% with defender rotations. The numbers suggest keep it as low as possible. My subs averaged 2pts per game so basically a waste of time. I had 609 players earning points; the forwards being the most productive points per player. Surprisingly, the best value for money are the goalkeepers when using the points/% of budget factor.
I suppose it is fairly boring but I would be interested if others had similar numbers. My rank was 5k so I think a fair indicator.

Is there a way of amalgamating two FPL accounts for HOF ranking? I used one email address up to 2012/13 before a hack (then switched over to a different one which I still use). Have regained access to the other one and make a team to keep it active, but it's a placeholder really.

I used to use our family email address for gaming for me and the kids until the wife got sick and tired of adverts and spam from our accounts and so I made another email address just for gaming. We still get the rubbish and spam on the other account though.

Got lucky in the money h2h with average and a pile of poo ghost team in 37 and 38 respectively. My opponent got the best of the crop and lost his 1 match lead in gw37 never to recover.

@Misery loves Kompany and anybody else.

Nothing wrong with taking hits and no need to reign it in. Next season we're making a "hit a week" league for the sole use of us reckless funsters. The only rule is you end up with 38 hits at seasons end....or more.

    1. Misery Loves Kompany
      • 9 Years

But you have to take a hit every week, right?

That'd be ok by his rules. The only time is having to take 38 hits or more by the of the season.
Suppose you could stick without making any transfers for a while then do a wildcard scenario of 6 or 7 transfers.
I kind of like the format a few of us did at work with a b-team (with the missus's name or whatever)
Had to make 3 transfers a week religiously.
It was fun. 20 bob each and winner takes all.

If you like. Most folk who take hits already know they will before the season starts...and in my case it's always my plan. We just need to get together and stop apologising for how we like to play the game.

A hit a week and top 10k is no easy task and a worthy target.

Once you actually plan to take the hits the game changes for many reasons.

              For example...

Firstly I usually make my first transfer early in the week to catch the rises because I know I have another transfer to remedy things if somebody is injured later on in the week. So none of this "wait for the pressers" lark and my TV builds very quickly.

Secondly. I usually have about 108 mill by Jan because of that, which means I have a squad full of good picks very early compared to most, which also means taking out perfectly good players for the sake of it sometimes. We have to be ok with laughing at ourselves...which I am.
