Memberships Now Available

Fantasy Football Scout memberships for 2017/18 are now available for the pre-season price of just £12.50.

Last season’s memberships expired on June 1 but you can now renew to get access to the members area.

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

Payments can be made through Paypal or via Stripe using debit or credit cards.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

We’re hugely grateful for the support shown by our members each season and, having invested in a redesign of the main site last year, we’re now fully focused on building on the members offering.

Mat – our new dedicated developer – is currently working on an array of fixes and new features, with the first update set to go live in the next 48-hours. You can find details of the work in progress in our previous “Development Squad” post – the first of many to come over the summer and the season ahead.

You can also see our immediate task list and progress on existing tasks right here.

That task board demonstrates our intent to be transparent on our future plans and work with you to ensure that the member’s area can become even more valuable to you as Fantasy managers.

If you’ve any feedback or suggestions of content that you’d like to see added to the members offering, then please feel free to drop me a line at support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Phew, at least some respite from having to listen to United fans babbling about Griezmann every single day. Will be funny to watch Ibra go from being old and worth moving on to worth retaining for his experience and big match play.

I don't use the members content to be honest, I have the time to watch the games and prefer to be a little less stats driven.I spend way too much time watching football and playing football manager as it is haha!
But, I will renew to support the site (I don't get this 'the site is too big now, they don't need it' rubbish - a pound per month is not going to break anybody!).
I really enjoy the scoutcast and the DZ community (I live in Shanghai) is great and def helped me acheive a top 5k OR! During the DZ there is time for detailed opinions and banter on posts, which is my favorite part of the site, cheers!

It's all stored in an excel spreadsheet using big chances/ shots: chances created and the teams home and away and last 4 weeks forms both for and against.

Okay, daily Hot Topic - one I'm thinking over as we approach the player list date.

How will European Qualification influence your approach to next season?

We saw what Chelsea and, to an extent, Liverpool benefited from not having midweek European ties so, with that in mind, will you adapt your strategies for this coming season.

Just a reminder - here's the teams in Europe:

    Chelsea Champions League group stage
    Spurs Champions League group stage
Man City Champions League group stage
Man Utd Champions League group stage
    Liverpool Champions League play-offs
    Arsenal Europa League group stage
    Everton Europa League 3QR

For me, it makes Arsenal more attractive since I anticipate that they will look to field a second string in the early stages at least. This will hopefully make reading rotation straightforward.

How do we think it will affect Conte's teamsheets and do we see Liverpool's midfield assets being disrupted should they progress?

Spurs - surely rotation at full-back will be on show.

City - nightmare all round, I imagine.

United - are we going there anyway?

    Let us know your thoughts.

You also need to add in the hectic Christmas / New Year schedule. It is going to be rotation galore. Hence for me it is about trying to find the gems in clubs like Southampton, Bournemouth, West Ham etc. Particularly if they get knocked out of the EFL Cup early as they will then play every game in the PL.

Yes, Southampton are a very different prospect this season and I'll be scouting them in pre-season. There's no doubt that the fixtures and rotation around midweek hurt their progress.

Still not totally convinced on Puel, though.

There's one or two players like Boufal and Gabbi, who could have very good seasons at Southampton.

Puel looks like he should be teaching Physics rather managing a football team, though.

        Yes, ridiculous.
Man Utd win the lesser European trophy and go straight into the Champions League Group Stage.
Last time Liverpool won the real Champions League they had to start in the extra preliminary round the following season.

Arsenal: Depends on Alexis or his replacement. Will monitor.
Spurs: Ataack and Midfield. No defense.
Liverpool: Defence will be considered if a decent CB is bought.
Chelsea: not sure yet. Probably ignore because of the prices next season.
Man utd: defence is being monitored. Depends on rotation.

For Spurs, Eriksen worries me and it's a shame. He's my favoured option but I just don't see him being rolled out for CL and PL fixtures back-to-back. If they go for Mahrez, he'll be vulnerable. It looks like Kane or nothing if you want security.

I always start every season filtering for players who are afraid of flying since that adds a certain level of confidence to their domestic nailed on ness. Haven't found anyone using that filter since Dennis Bergkamp though.

A bit early to tell but I agree Liverpool assets will suffer and City will be a rotation headache. If Aguero stays it may be all about who will threaten in Europe more, maybe him so Jesus could be nailed for league games.
I think conte will keep rotation to a minimum and play all the nailed guys in both comps, maybe rotate wingbacks if he makes the signings.
      United isn't worth going there.
Arsenal could be good but is there a guarantee he'll play fringe players in the Europa? If he confirms that he will then I'm all over a defender atleast.
As some people have already mentioned, I'll be looking for gems elsewhere. I'll be keeping a particular close eye on:
Bertrand, Daniels, Begovic, Andre Ayew (maybe Jordan aswell?), King, Gray (if Mahrez leaves), Knockaert, Tommy Smith (Huddersfield)

The Summer Transfer Window ends on 1st September.

Liverpool's Champions League play-off round matches are on 15th or 16th and 22nd or 23rd August.

Everton's Europa League 3rd qualifying round is on 27th July and 3rd August, and their play-off round on 17th and 24th August.

First of all - the CL and Europa qualifiers will have taken place by the time the summer transfer windows shuts on 1st September (a pet hate of mine), so we should know what PL teams' European commitments will look like as they are fine-tuning squads. Logical to assume that Liverpool and Everton will come through their play-off rounds and be in the main group stage of the CL and Europa respectively.

Chelsea - ultimately won the title at a canter and will be looking to make an impression in the CL next season. Conte is solid at the back and not big on rotation, so a nailed on Defender (perhaps Azpilicueta) should still be a reliable option. Potential re-classification of wing-backs will be interesting, particularly if Moses is far cheaper than Alonso. It's a watching brief further forward for me. And with Atletico having their transfer ban upheld, it looks like Costa will be hanging around for another year. Perhaps there will then be more PL pitch time for (title winner) Batshuayi.

Spurs - struggled in the CL this season and may find it difficult to adapt to playing at Wembley as well. I'd be interested in Tripper (assuming Walker moves on) and (like everyone else) Kane. Rotation among the midfielders likely to kick in. That puts a question mark alongside Alli and Eriksen.

City - it looks like they are going to go big in the summer transfer window and their Chairman, Mubarak, is already talking about "a Quadruple". An attacking full-back, say, Walker or Mendy, could be gold. They are going to score A LOT of goals. It depends on formation and whether Pep will play both Aguero and Jesus. One of those needed. And I'm expecting big things from KDB.

United - should improve next season and have a squad able to fight on both fronts. Plenty of rotation likely, however, with a few exceptions. Pogba should play 90 minutes each week and I fancy him to have a better second season. More information on Zlatan's return date is key. If United spend big bucks on a new Striker, say Lukaku, then I'd fancy him to bring home plenty of bacon.

Liverpool - got to back them to get through their qualifier, but then balancing PL and CL commitments will stretch their squad. Re-classifying rotation-proof Milner as a Defender could be FPL gold. And given he takes a bunch of set pieces, he might be good coverage until things settle down and we know how the land lays for Coutinho, Mane, Firmino and Lallana.

Arsenal - it all depends on how seriously they take Europa. If a second-string teams plays in that, then there should be some good options for PL. Particularly if there is an Emirates feel-good factor in light of Wenger's new deal. Sticking with 3-4-1-2 (coupled with wing-back re-classificastion) could make AOC an interesting pick. Monreal too on the opposite flank.

Everton - extremely difficult to see them breaking into that top 6, so perhaps they give Europa a real go? If so, not many of their assets immediately stand out. Particularly when their best option (Coleman) is crocked long-term.

Opening fixtures will dictate, but better value might be found around the likes of Bournemouth, Stoke, West Brom and Southampton. TM32

Starting to think about my potential team next year and a City fullback makes a lot of sense. We know how Pep loves his attacking fullbacks Alaba and Lahm, Alves and Alba lots of potential assists to be add. With that said City are linked with two attacking fullbacks Walker and Mendy. Who do people think will be the better FPL pick assuming they were the same price?

Obviously we'll have to wait til pre-season to see who the more advanced one be but my guess would be Mendy he played more like a wingback for Monaco than a conventional right back. My guess would be Walker would act as a more orthodox right back while Mendy would play as a wingback.

Mendy had 5 assists in 25 league games whereas Walker has 5 assists in 32 league games at this current moment I'm leaning towards Mendy what do people think?

      I am with you 100%
City defence got much better, if Kompany stays fit, there should be plenty of cleansheets, even without him they should be stronger. Walker and Mendy would be FPL gold imo, only issue may be rotation during champions league. I think they'd be nailed formation wise, unlikely to be wing-backs though cos of all the attacking talent pep has to fit in? Cleansheets, bonus points and the odd assists potential put them close to the summit for me. And if walker leaving makes Trippier nailed, even better!

There's no indication that Guardiola fullbacks have more offensive returns than fullbacks at other clubs. Dani Alves had 2 goals and 13 assists at Sevilla. He is a beast offensively with or without Guardiola. Lahm had 1 goal 4 assists in his best season with Guardiola. Alaba had 2 goals 6 assists. In the current season Alaba has 4 goals 4 assists and Lahm has 1 goal 3 assists. Alves's returns tailed off after Guardiola left the club, but that has just as much to do with Messi moving centrally and Alba replacing Abidal as a left back.

If anything we're seeing an evolution in Guardiola's philosophy where fullbacks will move into central midfield when the team is attacking, rather than being wing backs. Rather than providing width, they are providing more stability and control. That philosophy is consistent with B. Silva, D. Silva and De Bruyne being the central midfielders in the team. All those 3 players are well known for pushing out wide in attack. Whether Mendy suits this philosophy is difficult for me to tell, so we'll see.

What do you think of mancity signings and those which are about to happen Has they really strengthened ?

    Jesus Navas➡Bernardo Silva
    Willy Cabellaro➡Ederson
    Geal Clichy➡Benjamin Mendy
    Bacary Sagna➡Kyle Walker

Until they sign a quality centre back and defensive mid they are still vulnerable. imo

The problem isn't the quality of their CB's but rather how they play. The defence is left vulnerable because the midfield go missing too far up field....but I doubt Pep is as bothered by it as we are.

I expect they'll continue to only play to score at least one more goal than the opposition for a good time to come.

News outlets, and football journalists should be ranked in tables like the teams they cover.
